Charles J. Myers, 71, of Warsaw, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Lincoln Community Nursing Home.

MARGARET H. (CHILDERS) HARTLEY
Margaret H. (Childers) Hartley, 99, of Lee’s Summit, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004, at John Knox Village Care Center.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Langsford Funeral Home; burial in Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Community of Christ Church, 1101 N.E. Independence Ave., Lee’s Summit, MO 64086.
Longevity is a trademark of her family, for, like her father, she lived to be just months shy of 100.
Margaret was born Jan. 7, 1905, in Grain Valley, Mo., to C.W. and Lucinda Childers.
She married Vollie “Bill” Hartley on June 11, 1925, and together they founded Hartley’s Furniture and Appliance in 1953.
She was a member of the RLDS (Community of Christ) Church since 1922.
She was a member of the Tuesday Girls at church and also a member of the Business & Professional Women’s Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bill Hartley, in 1984; and her daughter-in-law, Melba (Bears) Hartley, in 2003.
She is survived by son, Dale Hartley and wife, Mary Louise, Lake Winnebago; and son, Clifford Lee Hartley, Lee’s Summit; five grandchildren, Ron Hartley, Jana Ferguson and husband, Dennis, Sandra Ford and husband, Mark, Bryan Hartley and Rick Hartley; six great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.

PEARL NICHOLS
On July 9, 2004, angels came to escort Pearl Nichols home to be with her heavenly father.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at First Baptist Church of Raytown; burial in Floral Hills East Cemetery, Lee’s Summit. Donations may be made to John Knox Village Hospice.
She worked alongside her husband as a pastor’s wife, and had a tremendous love for children and young people.
In the last days of her life she would sing, “This Little Light of Mine” to the many visitors that came to see her.
She loved the Lord and her family with all her heart.
In her younger years she worked for National Bellas Hess, F.W. Woolworth, and W.T. Grants.
While working at W.T. Grants, she was the manager in the pet department.
Pearl spent many evenings joyously planting flowers around her home.
Pearl made her home for the last 19 years with her daughter, Retha Hustad and her husband, John.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clyde Nichols, in 1992; two brothers; and three sisters.
Pearl is survived by four daughters, Marie Brown and husband, Glenn, Overland Park, Kan., Velva “Vickie” Piehler, Kansas City, Mo., Naomi “Ruth” Green and husband, Virgil, Olathe, Kan., and Retha Hustad and husband, John, Lee’s Summit; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom, with all of our hearts we will always love you for all the love you have shown us and the care you have given over the years.
Thank you for introducing us to Jesus. We will never forget you!
One of Mom’s last statements was, “My love will be with you always!”
In the last days of her life, she had a wonderful caregiver, Rebecca Nation.

JOHN E. FRIEDRICH
John E. Friedrich, 54, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Overland Park, Kan. and Lee’s Summit, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2004, in Randolph, Kan.
Memorial services are at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, in Springfield, at the Second Baptist Church.
John leaves his wife, Marleen, of the home; a son, Ryan Friedrich; a daughter, Kelly Stephens; and two grandchildren, all of Springfield.
STEVE GOSEWISCH
Steve Gosewisch, 59, of Lee’s Summit, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004.
A sunset memorial service was held June 22, at Unity Village Rose Garden.
He was born April 21, 1945, in Mankato, Minn., to Harold and Helen (Saenger) Gosewisch, who later married Louis “Duke” Rose, Mankato.
They preceded him in death along with paternal grandparents, Fred and Anna Gosewisch, Mankato; maternal grandparents, John P. and Lillian Saenger, Mankato; and a grandson, Hunter, Blue Springs.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Beverly (Zastrow) Gosewisch; son Brian and wife, Kelley (Majors), Blue Springs; son, Skye, Lee’s Summit; grandsons, Chance and Cade Gosewisch, Lee’s Summit, and Gage and Lane Gosewisch, Blue Springs; sister, Beverly Powell and husband, Bob Kulseth, Mankato; brother, Jerry Gosewisch and wife, Karen, Maple Plain, Minn.; sister, Judy Milbrett and husband, Don, Eagle Bend, Minn.; sister, Sandy Morgan and husband, Fred, Savage, Minn.; sister, Mary Lou (Rose) Whaley and husband, Tom, Chanhassen, Minn.; half-sister, Sherry McCloskey and husband, Rick, Cripple Creek, Colo.; mother- and father-in-law, Linus and Lillian Zastrow, Amboy, Minn.; sister-in-law, Barb Kaul and husband, Ron, Good Thunder, Minn.; sister-in-law, Bonita Steppa, St. Paul, Minn.; brother-in-law, Bruce Zastrow and wife, Julie, Easton, Minn.; sister-in-law, Bea Caven and husband, Joe, Lake Crystal, Minn.; and 24 nieces and nephews.
He attended All-Saints Elementary School, Madison Lake, Minn., and graduated in 1963 from Waldorf-Pemberton High School, Waldorf, Minn.
Steve and Bev were married Aug. 10, 1968, in Good Thunder, Minn., and moved to Independence in 1970, then to Lee’s Summit in 1971.
Steve was a Heidelberg printing press installer and mechanic for 34 years.

Joy Arlene Fowler, 86, of Lee’s Summit, passed away Friday, July 2, 2004, at Village Care Center.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Langsford Funeral Home; burial at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Joy was born March 16, 1918, in Pinckneyville, Ill.
She was married to Robert E. Fowler.
She worked for the Internal Revenue Service, and her last job was manager of a warehouse for Bird & Son.
Mrs. Fowler was a member of First Baptist Church of Affton, Mo., and at the time of her death was a member of Lee’s Summit First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by parents, Zoe and Albert Gruner; and three sisters, Lena, Mabel and Ernestine.
Mrs. Fowler is survived by her husband, Robert Fowler; son, Dennis Fowler and wife, Dianne; grandchildren, Matthew, Kayleigh and Benjamin; brother-in-law, Gene Provart; niece, Sally Smalley and husband, Ted; grand-niece, Krista Smalley; niece, Jeannine Cook and husband, Ed; and grand-nephew, Harris Cook, wife, Kitty, and their children, Edward and Andrew.

KATHRYN (GREENE) LANGSFORD HAWKINS JONES
Kathryn Jones, 98, formerly of Lee’s Summit, passed away July 4, 2004, at Appleton City Manor, Appleton City, Mo., her home the past 12 years.
She was the daughter of Frank and Lulu Belle (Longshore) Greene.
She was born on April 9, 1906, in rural Grandview, Jackson County, Mo.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Langsford Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, before the service, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Floral Hills East Cemetery.
Kathryn taught school 21 years in the Lee’s Summit School District, and had taught in rural, one-room school houses before that.
Kathryn graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1925 as Valedictorian.
She had her teaching certificate when she graduated high school and had attended teacher’s college in Warrensburg, now Central Missouri State University.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit and the WSCS.
She had been a member of MPM Club, MFWC.
She was an active member of the Lee’s Summit Hospital Auxiliary and President of the Council of Clubs.
Kathryn was also a member of the So and Sew Club.
After her marriage to Hal Jones, they lived in El Dorado Springs, Mo., where she was a member of Twentieth Century Club, MFWC.
She was also a member of Chapter EI of P.E.O. and United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Louise Williams; brothers, Frank Greene Jr. and Kenneth Greene; her three husbands, John Langsford in 1935, Floyd Hawkins in 1973, and Hal Jones in 1995; two sons, Guy Lacy Langsford in 1992 and Frank Greene Langsford in 2000; son-in-law, Tom Bowlin in 1999; and grandson, John Barton Langsford in 2001.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Ann (Langsford) Bowlin, Grain Valley, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Virginia (Veatch) Langsford, Topeka, Kan.; her former daughter-in-law, Juanita (Wash) Langsford Marechale, Woodland Hills, Calif.; her step-daughter, Evelyn (Hawkins) Williams, San Jose, Calif.; step-son, Bob Hawkins and wife, Mary Kay, Columbia, S.C.; sister-in-law, Ruby Greene, Lee’s Summit; cousin, Mary Jane Thompson, Savannah, Mo.; grandchildren, Karen Langsford, Sharon Lee Langsford, Stephen Langsford (Wendy), Sue Bowlin Stalling (George), Bob Bowlin (Angie), Kathy Bowlin Payson, Jim Bowlin (Deborah), and Tom M. Bowlin; great-grandchildren, Nicole Langsford Malcolm (Chad), Christopher Langs-ford, Heather Stalling, Matthew Stalling, Michael Bowlin, Josh, Blair, Emily and Tucker Bowlin, and Stephanie, Thomas Adam and Whitney Bowlin; two great great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew.

Beulah H. Keller, 83, of Lee’s Summit, went home on Sunday, July 4, 2004.

Ms. Keller was born May 5, 1921, in Windsor, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one sister.
She is survived by three daughters; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, two brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
