JAMES A. LADDON
James A. Laddon, 91, Lee’s Summit, passed away May 16, 2004, at Lee’s Summit Hospital.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Langsford Funeral Home.
Burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Visitation is from 1:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, American Kidney Fund or a charity of choice.
Jim was born in Moorehead, Minn.
He attended Catholic grade school in Minneapolis, Minn., and in 1931, graduated from Central High School in Kansas City.
He was a graduate of A&M School of fighters and bombers at Keesler Field, received B-26 training at Salt Lake City Air Base, and B-29 training at the Renton Washington Factory School.
He was a pilot in the Civil Air Patrol in 1943, based at the Kansas City Airport.
A veteran of World War II, he was discharged a Master Sergeant in September 1946.
Jim was employed at the Chevrolet Leeds Plant for 38 years where he retired as supervisor in security in 1972.
He was a former member and Lieutenant in the Kansas City Power Squadron and an editor of the “Rhumb Line” publication.
Jim was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 189 in Lee’s Summit.
He is survived by his wife, Lutie, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this Sept.; daughter, Linda Lang, her husband, Larry; and two grandchildren, Douglas and Ashley.

Bonnie Ann Markham, 66, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, at her lake home.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, at Langsford Funeral Home.

HILLARY GRACE FARMER
Hillary Grace Farmer, infant daughter of Chris and Christi Farmer of Columbia, Mo., was stillborn at 10:18 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2004, at Columbia Regional Hospital.
A memorial service was held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 13 at Community United Methodist Church in Columbia, with the Rev. Gary DeWitt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Community United Methodist Church.
She will be greatly missed by her parents; her big sister, Meredith Louise; grandparents, Steve and Louise Boone of Lee’s Summit, Barb Farmer of Chesterfield, and David and Melanie Farmer of Dallas; great-grandparents, Louis and Ruth Wrinkle of Blue Springs, Jack and Grace Nansen of Creve Coeur, and Roger and Viviene Farmer of Boonville; aunt and uncle Kelli and Bryant Knapp of Kirksville; uncle Gavin Farmer of Dallas; and many very special family friends.
We will miss raising you as our daughter, but will keep your memory alive.

William H. “Bill” Ostenberg V, 27, passed away May 4, 2004, in Vail, Colo.
A memorial service was held by the Arkansas River and at the Adventure Unlimited Ranches in Buena Vista, Colo.

Bill was born Nov. 13, 1976, in Valparaiso, Ind.
He received a bachelor of science degree in 1999 from Principia College, Elsah, Ill.
He worked at Commerce Bank in Kansas City, Mo., before moving to Breckenridge, Colo., with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Heather, and his one-month-old daughter, Olivia Love Ostenberg, Breckenridge; his father, William “Chip,” and his mother, Rae Ann, Crown Point, Ind.; his sister, Leah, Boston, Mass.; maternal grandparents, Don and Loretta Kirkendorfer, Crown Point; paternal grandmother, Miriam Edwards, Reston, Va.; eight cousins; and numerous aunts and uncles.

T. Jane Stafford, 66, of Pleasant Hill, Mo., passed away May 5, 2004 at her home.

EDWARD WILLIAM THOMPSON
Edward William Thompson passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 3, 2004, at Lee’s Summit Hospital.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday, May 7, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Chapel; burial in Floral Hills Cemetery.
Visitation is from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, at the chapel.
Knowing how Edward felt about animals, he would prefer donations to the Humane Society rather than flowers.
He was born July 30, 1954, to Howard Marvin and Phyllis J. Thompson.
Edward grew up in Lee’s Summit and became interested in scouting and nature.
He became an Eagle Scout and served many wonderful summers on the staff at Osceola.
Edward graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1972 and enrolled that fall at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Later he enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam conflict, and served with the HHC 2nd Battalion of the 15th Infantry on the Russian border in Germany. After release from the service he attended the Institute of Technology, majoring in electronics and computers.
He owned and operated EDG Technology in Lee’s Summit for eight years.
After closing his business, he worked for Vanguard and later for Sprint.
Everyone who knew Edward knew he was an avid Chiefs fan, always wearing his Chiefs jacket and hat.
He and one of his best friends, Frank Soard, spent every weekend watching sports.
Edward is survived by his parents; brother, Harold M. Thompson, Mayview, Mo.; sister, Alice J. Hagerman, Santa Monica, Calif.; daughters, Cari, Lee’s Summit, and Amanda, Pleasant Hill; and two grandchildren, Noah and Rachel.
Edward was a well liked and respected man who leaves behind his heartbroken family and many sad friends.

DENNIS ALAN WASCO
Dennis Alan Wasco, 47, of Lee’s Summit, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Lee’s Summit Hospital.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Blue Ridge Bible Church, 85th and Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, Mo.; burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Friends may from call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at Langsford Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Dennis Wasco Memorial Fund for his children’s education; to the MS Society; or to the Community Blood Center.
Dennis was born and raised in Columbus, Neb.
He graduated from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Neb., with a degree in computer science.
He married Debbie Griffith in Columbus before moving to Lee’s Summit in 1979.
Throughout his career Dennis worked as a database analyst for AT&T for 19 years; UMB for two years; and SBC for three years.
Dennis and his family have been long time members of Covenant Reformed Church of Kansas City.
He faithfully served in various capacities over the past 20 years, including deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, in addition to various committees.
Dennis was a frequent rider in the MS 150 Bike Tour and had recently joined the Kansas City Water Garden Society.
He regularly donated blood at the Community Blood Center and recently achieved the 30-gallon mark.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Debbie Wasco, and five children, Sara Wasco, David Wasco, Phillip Wasco, Hannah Wasco and Rachel Wasco, all of the home; his parents, Bob Wasco, Florida, and Donna Wasco, Schuyler, Neb.; four siblings, Kathy (Ray) Voichoskie, Shelby, Neb., Gary Wasco, Omaha, Neb., Larry Wasco, Plattsmouth, Neb., and Lisa (Joe) Graff, Bellevue, Neb.; and his grandmother, Philus Phillips, St. Edwards, Neb.

WAYNE K. TICE, M.D.
Dr. Wayne Kilmer Tice, 79, passed away Monday, May 3, 2004, at Independence Regional Medical Center, with his wife and three children at his bedside, after a valiant fight with lung cancer.
Cremation.
Memorial services to celebrate his life are at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Noland Road Chapel, 509 South Noland Road, Independence.
Visitation is at 6 p.m. Thursday, prior to services, at the funeral home.

Wayne was born Sept. 21, 1924, in McPherson, Kan.
He was a 1942 graduate of Rosedale High School in Kansas City, Mo., graduated from the University of Kansas in 1946, and graduated from KU Medical School in 1948.
He married the love of his life, Jean Bell, of Chetopa, Kan., after his junior year of college in 1947.
He performed his internship and residency in radiology at the University of Iowa from 1948 to 1950, where his daughter, Beverly, was born. He proudly served his country as Captain of the U.S. Army Medical Corps, where he was Chief Radiologist of the 35th Station General Hospital in Kyoto, Japan from 1950 to 1953.
He returned to Iowa City to complete his residency from 1953 to 1954.
From 1954 to 1958, he practiced radiology in Lincoln, Neb., where he also served as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Nebraska.
In 1958, he moved his family to Independence, where he practiced radiology at the Western Missouri Radiology Group until his retirement in 1986.
Wayne was an active contributor to society outside of his work and family.
He was elected and served as City Council member of Independence from 1960 to 1962, where he worked long hours to make the city a better place to live.
He was president of the medical staff of Independence Regional Medical Center from 1973 to 1974, and was Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine from 1973 to 1976.
He was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Independence.
In his youth, he was a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say in Osceola, Mo., in 1940.
He was an active member of the Radiological Society of North America and the Jackson County Medical Society.
He was also a member of ACBL.
His great loves in life outside of his family were fishing and jazz music.
Wayne will be missed immensely by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean B. Tice; daughter, Beverly Deering and husband, Frank, Seattle, Wash.; sons, David Wayne Tice, Dallas, Texas, and Robert Galen Tice, San Diego, Calif.; two granddaughters, Abby and Katie, Dallas; sister, Betty (Tice) Stewart, Kansas City; niece, Sheryl Foreman and husband, Kelly; nephew, Mical Stewart and wife, Tami; uncle, Dr. Raymond Tice; and many loving cousins and dear friends.
