Nora M. Adams
Nora M. (Merrigan) Adams, 79, Gilman City, Mo., died September 27, 2003, at a health care center in Springfield, Mo.
Mrs. Adams was born in Clyde, Mo., on Dec. 5, 1923, the daughter of John and Nell Merrigan. She married Wade Adams on Feb. 3, 1948, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Donald Wayne Adams; sister Patricia Seipel, and two brothers, John and Joe Merrigan.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Cooper, Ashgrove, Mo., Carol Jones, Thorsby, Ala., and Diane Adams, Longmont, Colo.; two sons, Joe Adams, Pleasant Home, Mo., and William Adams, Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers James Merrigan, Stanberry, Mo., and William Francis Merrigan, Maryville, Mo.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Roberson Funeral Home in Gilman City. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Gilman City. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Illa McCrary
Illa McCrary, 72, Gilman City, Mo., died December 28, 2003, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo.
Mrs. McCrary was born in Turney, Mo., on Oct. 13, 1931. She married John McCrary on Aug. 1, 1949, and worked as a cook for McDonald's Tea Room in Gallatin for several years. She also owned and operated the Bethany Cafe' and worked as a cook at Charlene's in Bethany.
She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Flo Morey, brother Jack Morey, and two step-brothers, Roy and Lavaughn Blosser.
Surviving are her husband John of the home; five sons, John G., Albany, Mo., Ronnie, David E., Darrell Ellis, all of Gilman City, and Dennis R. of Barnard, Mo.; two sisters, Ruth Lewellan, Kansas, and Hilda Blosser, Turney, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Inurnment will be at the Turney Cemetery in Turney, Mo.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Turney Cemetery in care of the McWilliams Funeral Home.
Anna L. Duree
Anna L. Duree, 84, Coon Rapids, Minn., died April 6, 2004, in Coon Rapids.
She was born in Napier, Iowa, on May 22, 1919. Her husband Joe had been a foreman of the Williams Brothers Pipeline north of Bethany.
Preceding her in death were her husband and son-in-law Larry Baker.
She leaves daughters Joann Nelsen and husband Jim, Cottage Grove, and Donna Baker of Coon Rapids; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Osceola, Iowa.
Tristain J. Skiles
Tristian J. Skiles, 2, formerly of Bethany, Mo., died May 8, 2004, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield.
He was born March 4, 2002, in Trenton, Mo.
Surviving are his mother Amy Skiles, Lampe, Mo.; father Jeffrey A. Malott, Bethany; sister Faith Hope Skiles, Des Moines, Iowa; maternal grandmother Dorothy Oliver, Cainsville; maternal grandfather Terry Lambert, Cainsville; maternal great-grandparents Tom and Pat Lambert, Pattonsburg; Fred Nash, Jefferson City; maternal grandfather Curtis Skiles, Orange County, Calif.; paternal grandmother Loretta Hillyard, Bethany; paternal grandfather Russell Hillyard, Bethany; paternal great-grandmother Mary Wurtz, Independence; paternal great-grandparents Melvin and Betty Hillyard, Bethany.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Bethany, under the direction of Bethany Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Akron Cemetery, Cainsville.
Janet S. Baker
Janet S. Baker, 58, Pleasant Valley, Mo., and formerly of Bethany, Mo., died May 7, 2004, in Pleasant Valley.
Ms. Baker was born in Bethany on Feb. 16, 1946, the daughter of Lawrence and Orlena (Bogue) Baker. She worked for the State of Missouri as a clerical worker.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Craig Stevens and wife Vickie, Kansas City, Mo.; daughter Marlee Dowlen and husband Brian, Platte City, Mo.; brother Don Baker, Blue Springs, Mo.; sisters Carolyn VanHouton, Liberty, and Peggy Bevill, Houston, Texas; grandchildren Megan, Sarah, Ashley, Lauren, Caleb, Madison and Garrett.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at the Miriam Cemetery in Bethany, under the direction of Bethany Memorial Chapel.
Frances M. Russell
Frances M. Russell, 93, Bethany, Mo., died May 8, 2004, at a Bethany health care center.
Mrs. Russell was born in Lakin, Kan., on Nov. 3, 1910, the daughter of William and Alma (Harvey) Kemp. She married Virgil Shain and they later divorced. She married Todd Russell and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Lyle Shain, Bethany, Mo., and Lowell Shain, Grand Junction, Colo.; sister Viola Hansford, Silver Lake, Kan.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.
Services will be in Westminster, Calif.
Della Pearl Fitch
Della Pearl Fitch, 92, Jamesport, Mo., died May 10, 2004, at a Liberty nursing home.
Mrs. Fitch was born in Jamesport, Mo., on Oct. 31, 1911, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle (Croy) Stith. She married Harold Fitch on Feb. 11, 1934, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1991. She was a member of the Pilot Grove #1 Baptist Church.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, William Kenneth Fitch and wife Sara, Riverside, Mo.; three daughters, Waneva Cummings and husband Chub, Gallatin, Mo., Coleen Downey and husband Jerry, Shawnee, Kan., and Marilyn Waterbury and husband Bob of Chillicothe, Ohio; brother Dale Stith and wife Margaret, Altamont, Mo.; brother-in-law Delbert Hiley, Altamont, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 13 great, great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2004, at the Pilot Grove #1 Baptist Church, Gilman City, under the direction of the Roberson Funeral Home, Gilman City. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery, Jamesport.
