Kenneth W. Parrish Sr.
1918-1998
Kenneth Wade Parrish Sr., 80, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Parrish retired in 1984 after 40 years of service as a yard clerk with the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He served with the Marines during World War II.
Born March 15, 1918, in Shenandoah, Iowa, he lived in St. Joseph most of his life. He was a member of the Carnegie Baptist Church, St. Joseph, where he served as a deacon for 48 years. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Atchison, Kan.
Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Minnie; and a sister, Thelma Ruse.
Surviving: his wife, Dorothy Parrish, of the home; a son, Kenneth W. Jr., Mayflower, Ark.; two daughters, Marty Mears and Marcy Schurman, both of St. Joseph; four sisters, Dorothy Delaney, Agency, Mo., Norma Bonham, Savannah, Mo., Erma Brinton, Gower, Mo., and Rose Tritten, Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight and Friday.
Stella M. Rigney
1894-1998
ALBANY, Mo. -- Stella Mae (Green) Rigney, 104, Albany, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at an Albany hospital.
Born March 6, 1894, in Gentry County, Mo., Mrs. Rigney was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church.
In 1929, she married John Rigney. He died in 1970.
Mrs. Rigney also was preceded in death by a son, Charles Walters; a daughter, Goldie West; her parents, Minor and Emma Green; a sister; and three brothers.
Surviving: three daughters, Pauline Ballard, Stanberry, Mo., Mary Kariker, Gentryville, Mo., and Racheal Jones, Denver, Mo.; a son, Bill, Darlington, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 1 p.m. Saturday, Grandview Cemetery, Albany. Visitation: after 2 p.m. Friday, Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Calvin D. Shreve
1918-1998
SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Calvin Daniel Shreve, 79, Savannah, formerly of St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at a Savannah health-care center.
Mr. Shreve was formerly employed by Swift & Co., St. Joseph, and was a mechanic in Savannah for over 30 years with the Ford Tractor & Implement dealership, the former Symes Motors and Savannah Motors. He retired from Walton Motors, Savannah, in 1984. He also was a farmer.
Born Nov. 28, 1918, in St. Joseph, he lived there and in Whitesville, Mo., before moving to Savannah in 1932. He also lived in Horton and Atchison, Kan., and served with the Army during World War II.
Mr. Shreve was a member of the United Methodist Church, Amazonia, Mo., where he was currently a church trustee and past chairman of the board of trustees. He also was a member of the Dick Munkres American Legion Post No. 287, Savannah.
On May 18, 1941, he married E. Maxine Wampler in Troy, Kan. She died in 1974.
Mr. Shreve also was preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Sabre A.; three brothers, his twin, Carl, and Leo and Leonard; and two sisters, Beulah Eckenroed and Della Emick.
Surviving: two daughters, Diane Miller and Terri Holt, both of Savannah; and six grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah. Burial: Savannah Cemetery. Visitation: after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Valeria J. Stafford
WINDSOR, Mo. -- Valeria J. (Meng) Stafford, 84, Windsor, formerly of Forest City and Oregon, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at a hospital in Fishersville, Va.
Mrs. Stafford worked as a receptionist for a veterinarian. She also did homecare for several families in the Kansas City area.
Born in Wathena, Kan., she moved to Forbes, Mo., and also lived in Forest City and Oregon before moving to Windsor earlier this year. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Oregon, and was past district deputy president of the Rebecca Lodge.
On April 7, 1934, she married Raymond C. Stafford. He died in 1968.
Mrs. Stafford also was preceded in death by a son, Raymond L.; her parents, Chris and Louise Meng; two brothers, Melvin and Darrell Meng; a sister, Virginia L. Wells; and a grandchild.
Surviving: three daughters, Lura Hanson, Windsor, Lillian Boyd, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Christina Davis, Union Star, Mo.; a brother, Lloyd Meng, Oregon; a sister, Roberta Comer, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Friday, First Baptist Church, Oregon. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 7 to 8 tonight, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, and 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Ruth I. Brohan
1916-1999
EASTON, Mo. -- Ruth I. (Hendricks) Brohan, 82, Easton, formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Brohan was employed for 10 years at the former Whitaker Cable Company, St. Joseph. She later retired as head cook from Bessie Ellison School, St. Joseph, after 29 years of service.
A Christian, she was born May 27, 1916, in Frankfort, Kan. She lived in Rosendale, and St. Joseph for a time. She resided the last 50 years in Easton.
On Dec. 23, 1935, she married Harold H. Brohan in St. Joseph. He survives of the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther L. and Lillie M. Hendricks, her brother Kenneth Hendricks, and her half sister, Reba Phillips.
Additional survivor: her brother, Ivan Hendricks, Savannah, Mo.

Kenneth J. Collier

BISBEE, Ariz. -- Kenneth Jerrold ''Kenny'' Collier, 61, Bisbee, formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at a hospital in Tucson, Ariz.
Mr. Collier owned and operated All-Star Frozen Foods in Savannah, Mo., for about 10 years until 1974.
Born in St. Joseph on Aug. 5, 1937, he lived in St. Joseph until moving to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1974. He was a resident of Bisbee for about three years.
Mr. Collier graduated from Benton High School and was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple, of which he was a 32nd Degree Mason, both of St. Joseph.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Hildred Collier.
Surviving: his second wife, Carlie of the home; two sons, Scott, Phoenix, and Monty, Flagstaff, Ariz.; two daughters, Terry Shimer, Phoenix, and Rae Ann Wood, Gilbert, Ariz.; two brothers, Robert, Florida, and Richard, Georgia; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, First Assembly of God Church, Bisbee. The body has been cremated. Arrangements: Desert Rose Crematory, Tucson.
Glenna Fulford
1913-1999
LAURELVILLE, Ohio -- Glenna (Graff) Fulford, 85, Laurelville, formerly of Cincinnati and Waverly, Ohio, and Osborn, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at a Laurelville health-care center.
Mrs. Fulford, a homemaker, was born on Aug. 23, 1913, in Osborn.
She was a member of Cincinnati Unity Church and Westwood Methodist Church, both of Cincinnati.
On Jan. 21, 1942, she married Robert C. Fulford. He died in 1997.
Mrs. Fulford also was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore L. and Mary Graff; two brothers, John and Carl Graff; and two sisters, Frances and Christine.
Surviving: two sons, Richard, London, Ontario, and David, Dundas, Ontario; and a sister, Nellie M. Inman, Fort Smith, Ark.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at the Osborn Cemetery. The body has been cremated. Arrangements were by Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly.
