Austin C. Percell
Austin C. Percell, 89, Lamoni, Iowa, died July 18, 2004, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa.
Mr. Percell was born April 5, 1915, in Blythedale, Mo., and was a 1934 graduate of Blythedale High School.
He married Lois Delaine Fitzpatrick on Feb. 29, 1940, in Mercer County.
He farmed in Decatur and Harrison counties. He also worked at the former Calhoun Manufacturing Company in Bethany. After retiring, he and his wife Lois owned and operated Grandma's Greenhouse, north of Bethany.
In addition to his wife Lois, he leaves three children, Gordon Percell and wife Wyveta of Humboldt, Tenn., Marla Potts and husband Roger of Lamoni and Judy VanMeter of Independence, Mo.; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Imhoff and husband Harry of Osceola, Iowa, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Lamoni, Iowa. Burial was in the Andover, Mo., Cemetery.
Anna F. Moody
Anna F. Moody, 93, Bethany, Mo., died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at a Bethany nursing home.
Mrs. Moody was born April 12, 1911, in Cainsville, Mo., the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Lobba) Pesheck.
On Oct. 12, 1930, she married Leroy F. Moody. He preceded her in death.
She was a registered nurse at the Harrison County Community Hospital.
She leaves a daughter, Cheryl Mossberg, Plano, Texas; three sons, Leroy Moody, Ankeny, Iowa, Laverne Moody, also of Ankeny, and Dannie Moody, Lee's Summit, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services and burial were Sunday, July 25, at the Bohemian Cemetery, near Cainsville, under the direction of the the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany.
Dewey Berry
Dewey Berry, 64, Bethany, Mo., died Friday, July 23, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Berry was born Feb. 10, 1940, in Blanche, Mo., to Sheridan and Viola G. (Crowley) Berry. He had lived in Bethany since 1988.
He married Janet Asher on Nov. 24, 1984, in Elko, Nev. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Sherman, Gene and Darrell, and two sisters, Viola Rackley and Allie Dirskwell.
He leaves daughters Teana Berry, Heyburn, Idaho, Nichole Weems, Okley, Idaho, Loretta Radar, Oregon, Mo., Denise Berry, Bethany; a son, Dewey Berry Jr., Burley, Idaho; sisters, Geneive Reed, West Plains, Mo., Effie Hicks and Bessie Honeycutt, Mountain Grove, Mo., and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 28, at the Bethany Memorial Chapel. Burial was in White Oak Cemetery, Bethany.
Bradley Gardner
Bradley Martin Gardner, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at his home in Pattonsburg, Mo.
Mr. Gardner was born Oct. 2, 1971, to Randall Martin Gardner and Janet Marie (Taff) Gardner.
Mr. Gardner was a lifelong resident of Pattonsburg and a graduate of Pattonsburg High School where he was class salutatorian. He attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.
He attended Pattonsburg Methodist Church and liked to spend time gardening and on lawn care.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Janet Marie Gardner; maternal grandparents, Laverne and Juanita Taff, and paternal grandfather, Virgil Gardner.
He leaves his father and step-mother, Randall and Penny Gardner; his sister and brother-in-law, Shelly and Samuel Warner; nieces, Morgan Marie, Morgan Dawn and Emily Grace; his brother, Christopher Gardner; step-brothers, Wes Collins and wife, Jenny, and Derek Collins and wife, Dede, along with nephew and niece, Hayden and Hadley, and grandmother, Helen Gardner.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 28, at the United Methodist Church, Pattonsburg. Burial was in the McFall, Mo., Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pattonsburg United Methodist Church or the Pattonsburg Senior Center in care of the Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, MO. 64424.
Letta Mae Cordle
Graveside services for Letta Mae Cordle, formerly of Harrison County, were. Thursday, July 29, 2004, at the Willamette Memorial Park in Albany, Ore.
Mrs. Cordle was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Lamoni, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas Robert and Lena Evelyn (Lacy) Stanley.
She lived with her family on a farm east of Ridgeway, Mo. She attended Murphy Elementary School and graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1940. She moved with her family to a farm east of Blythedale, Mo., in 1940.
She was a member of the Christian Church. She worked in a cafe' as a waitress and cook after high school.
She married Francis Myers Cordle on Sept. 21, 1942, in Bethany, Mo., while he was in the Army. She brought a house and property in Ridgeway while here husband was overseas in World War II. They moved to Oregon in October of 1947.
She leaves her daughter, Evelyn Rake, Albany, Ore.; her son, Robert V. Cordle, Hillsboro; grandchildren Bradley Rake, Christopher Myers Rake, Andrew Cordle, Jennifer Thomas and Norma Cook; four great grandchildren, and her sister, Gracie 'Toots' John of Mount Ayr, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 7, 2001; her parents, and her brothers, Truman Stanley and Leo Stanley.
Leland Ross Nicholls
Leland Ross Nicholls, son of Ival R. and Hazel H. (Salmon) Nicholls, was born on March 8, 1916, in New Hampton, Mo.
He spent his early life in Harrison County. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) from 1933 - 1938 in Northern Missouri. On April 6, 1940, Mr. Nicholls married Zelma Maxine Fuston in Bethany, Mo., and they made their home in Shenandoah, Iowa.
He an employee of the Railway Express Agency from 1937 - 1971. He was employed by EATON Corporation from 1971 - 1982. An avid horseman, Leland was inducted into the Iowa Horseman's Association Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Shenandoah Fire Department from 1944 - 1970.
Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eileen (Leo) and Evelyn (Delbert) and two brothers, Eugene (Maxine) and Lester ( Nadine), and his wife of 59 years, Zelma Maxine. He is survived by two children, Leland Nicholls and wife Mary Jean of Menomonie, Wisconsin, and Lynda Lee Stephens and husband Bill of Shenandoah, Iowa; five grandchildren, Ludlo Stephens (Stacey), Lindsey Stephens (Jenny), Michael Nicholls (Amy), Marc Nicholls (Kay), and Melinda O'Donnell (Peter); six great-grand children, Sarah Nicholls, Emily Nicholls, Elizabeth Nicholls, Ryan O'Donnell, Jamie O'Donnell and Payton Stephens; brother Lowell Dean Nicholls (Lois) of Blue Springs, Mo.; and two sisters, Beverly Parker (Raymond) of Independence, Mo., and Crystal Kemp (Joe) of Bend, Ore.; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. A service of remembrance was conducted by the Nicholls family. Attending the memory register were Marjorie Scharp and Becky Stripe. Honorary casket bearer was Marc Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at on the web. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home of Shenandoah was in charge of the arrangements.
Keith Templeton
Keith Templeton, 56, of Bethany, Mo., formerly of Meridian, Miss., died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at a Columbia, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Templeton was born Jan. 28, 1948, in Warsaw, Mo., the son of Clarence and Ella Maurine (Reno) Templeton.
He was a truck driver by occupation and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He leaves a son, Keith Wayne Templeton, Fort Benning, Ga.; two brothers, Doyle Templeton and wife Kathy, Welch, Okla., Betty Ward and husband Skip, Bethany, and Lois Kirchhoff and husband Wayne, Moberly, Mo.
Graveside services and burial with military rites were Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at the Chapel Grove Cemetery, Clark, Mo., under the direction of the Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany.
