Mark Allen Davis, 47, of Kansas City, passed away on February 11, 2008 at his home. He is survived by one daughter, Samantha Davis, Kansas City; his father, David Davis, Richmond; three brothers, Steve Davis, Blue Springs, Tom Davis, Joplin, and Paul Davis, Kansas City; two sisters, Sandra Pitts, Kansas City, and Linda Moss, Higginsville; several nieces, nephews, great-nephews and a great-niece. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Davis. In accordance with his wishes he has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. Martha C. Hall
Martha Christine Hall, 99, of Excelsior Springs, formerly of Lathrop, Mo., passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 9, 1908, she was the daughter of Steve and Myrtle (Warren) Morse. She was married to Hugh Hall who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Kirby. She is survived by several cousins including Bud and Pat Lamb, Excelsior Springs, and Mirlene Sharp, Kearney, and a very good friend, Ellen Craven. Mrs. Hall was a retired seamstress. She enjoyed painting and quilting and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Liberty. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lathrop Cemetery in Lathrop, Mo. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Monday at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Marta Love
Marta Love, Excelsior Springs, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Lawson Manor and Rehab. Center, Lawson, Mo. She had lived and worked in Excelsior Springs for many years, employed by the Job Service Center and the local library. Marta was born in El Salvador to Carmen and Juan Ruiz-Torres, and immigrated to this country at the age of 18 where she attended business college and found employment as an international translator for the Bank of America in San Fransisco. She met and married Kenneth Love and relocated to the midwest in 1955. Over the years she has lived in Columbia, Mo., Lincoln Neb., Sedalia, Mo., Kansas City, Mo., Liberty, Mo. and Excelsior Springs, Mo. She was very active in International Wifes Association at the University of Nebraska, Altar Society, and YWCA groups in Lincoln. After moving to Sedalia she obtained her insurance brokers license and ran her own business, Love Insurance Agency. She was an active member of Altrrusa International. She continued to work as an insurance broker until she retired to Excelsior Springs, Mo. Survivors include three daughters, Frances and Wayne Powers, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Karen and Jerry Epp, Raytown, Mo., and Marta Love and Bill Allen of Suffolk, Va. and nine grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Margie A. Maxwell
Margie A. (Chambers) Maxwell, 81, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Lawson Manor and Rehabilitation Center, Lawson, Mo. Margie was born on February 26, 1926 near Lathrom, Mo. She was married to Clyde Maxwell on June 28, 1982 in Liberty, Mo.
She was a member of the Vibbard Christian Union Church. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and camping. Survivors include her husband, Clyde Maxwell, of the home; one sister, Jesse Brodgen, Rogers, Ark.; one brother, Leon Stout, Oklahoma; one step-son, James Maxwell, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; three step-daughters, Ruth Wolf, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Sharon Gardner, Holden, Mo., and Karen Chambers, St. Joseph, Mo.; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary "Rita" Holey
Mary Maretta "Rita" Hankins Holey, passed away Sunday evening, March 9, 2008 at the Lawson Manor in Lawson, Mo. Born February 3, 1927 in Relsor, Ark., she was the daughter of Lester and Cora Belle Hampton Adams. She was married to Clovis Hankins and to this marriage seven children were born. In 1983 she was married to William "Bill" Holey who preceded her in death in 2004. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Timothy Hankins; three brothers, Toy Adams, Donnely Adams and Odell Adams, and one sister, Ethel Gunner. Rita is survived by two sons, Larry James Hankins and wife, Helen, Richmond, and Gary Hankins and wife, Marsha, Henrietta; four daughters, Connie Robinette and husband, Winston, Kearney, Carol Llewellyn and husband, Paul, Excelsior Springs, Cheryl Schimmel, Cowgill and Carla Strickland, Dover, Ark.; three sisters, Velma Settles, O'Fallon, Mo., and Faye Dick and Sharon Baughman, both of Sherman, Texas; four brothers, Hoyle Adams, Russellville, Ark., Arnold Adams, Austin, Texas, Kenneth Adams, Albuquerque, N.M., and Darrell Adams, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Holey worked for Whitaker Cable in Excelsior Springs for 15 years where she retired in 1985. She had also worked for the Lane sewing factory and as a house keeper at Excelsior Springs Medical Center. She enjoyed sewing, reading, travel and gardening. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Hardy Oak Cemetery in Jefferson County, Kans., near Lawrence, with burial following. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
L. Frances Summers
L. Frances Summers, 88, Lawson, Mo., formerly of Excelsior Springs, passed away February 9, 2008, at her home. Frances was born on December 12, 1919 in Kansas City, Kans., the daughter of Joseph M. and Cloey M. (Clevenger) Schmitz. She married Harold Summers on October 25, 1937 in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1980. Frances had worked as a photo developer for Straffman studios in Excelsior Springs, Mo. She was later a school bus driver for the Excelsior Springs School District before retiring after 20 years. She was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-laws, Linda Evans and her husband, Fred, Lawson, Mo., and Laytena Nickols and her husband, David, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, James Harold Summers, and one brother, James C. Schmitz. Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, February 14, at Polley Funeral Home in Lawson. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
Donnie Nolker
Martin Donald "Donnie" Nolker, 81, of Rayville, Mo., passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 at his home. He was born July 7, 1926 in Ray County, Mo., to Gus and Mae (Daniels) Nolker. Donnie was raised in Ray County where he attended Crenshaw rural school and later Richmond High School. He farmed and raised cattle for most of his life. He had also built homes and worked in construction and at one time had worked for MFA. Donnie was a member of the Bee Hive Masonic Lodge #393 where he received his 50-year pin, the Ray-Clay Shriner's, Ararat Shrine Mounted Guard, Order of the Eastern Star Acacia #42 and the Elks Lodge of Excelsior Springs. He was also a member of the Old Union Christian Union Church. Donnie is survived by four daughters, Marjorie (John) Baker and Winnie (David) Briant, both of Lawson, and Nancy (Ron) Gamel and Marta (Barry) Sizemore, both of Festus, Mo.; two sisters, Bonnie Cates, Vibbard, and Nora Hutcheson, Rayville; two brothers, Frank Nolker, Pittsburgh, Mo., and Gene Nolker, Vibbard; a sister-in-law, Anabelle Nolker, Richmond; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his beloved pets, his cat, Tom, and dog, Ringo. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Melvin Nolker and John Nolker. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Lawson. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic Lodge service at 7:30 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Old Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Crossroads Hospice.
Muriel Quigley
Muriel Elizabeth Quigley, 94, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away January 10, 2008 at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center. She was born on December 17, 1913. She was a member of the United Christian Presbyterian Church, Lawson, Mo. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Paulsell and husband, David, Kansas City, Mo., and two granddaughters, Christina Geabhart and husband, Shawn, and Melissa Diack and husband, Ibrahima. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Lawrence Eugene Quigley. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, Mo. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Polley Funeral Home, Lawson, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center Van Fund.
Marjory L. Williams
Marjory L. Williams, 74, Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. Marjory was born on November 6, 1933 in Kearney, Mo., the daughter of Lloyd Rae and Hazel Irene (Poulson) Leach. On July 29, 1950 she married Junior Andrew Williams, who preceded her in death on March 22, 1998. She was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling and bowled on numerous leagues. Survivors include two sons, Randy and Lloyd Williams, both of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; one daughter, Donna Moore, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers, James and David Leach, both of Boise, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Marjory was preceded in death by one son, James Wayne Williams, three brothers, and one sister. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Burial will be in the Old New Garden Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Malinda Williams
Malinda Williams, age 100, passed away Saturday evening, December 8, 2007 in the Shirkey Nursing and Rehab Center, Richmond, Mo. Born November 11, 1907 in Richmond, she was the daughter of Pearl and Ora Lee (Lyles) Martin. In 1935 she was married to Richard Vernon Williams who preceded her in death September 26, 1986. "Mama Lindy", as she was affectionately known by her family and friends was a life-long resident of Richmond. A homemaker, she had also been employed by Ray County Hospital, Lake City Remington Arms, also a caretaker and babysitter. She raised five children and was a foster parent. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, spending time with her family and also being a part of her church. She was a 90 year member of St. John CME Church where she served as stewardess, missionary and also as treasurer of various committees. She had the honor of being the oldest member at the time of her death. She is survived by five children, Richard Williams and wife, Alice, Richmond, Margaret Grayson and husband, Delbert, Wood Heights, Charles Williams and wife, Emma, Richmond, Robert Williams, Richmond, and Marilyn Joyce Williams, Kansas City; one foster daughter, Toshia Mizner, Columbia, Mo.; one sister, Anna Dawson, Richmond; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and two nieces.
Along with her husband, Richard, also preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the St. John CME Church, Richmond. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. The family has suggested memorials to the St. John CME Church building fund. Arrangements under the direction of Polley Funeral Home, Richmond, Mo.
Norma Kistner
Norma G. Kistner, 85, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Excelsior Springs Medical Center. Norma was born on October 26, 1922 in Osborn, Kans., to Forrest E. and Aura K. (Adams) Bice. Norma went on to attend Brown-Mackey Business College, which was very progressive for those times. After marrying Elvis Kistner on March 16, 1944 in Granada, Mich., she worked as the front desk clerk at the Elms Hotel in Excelsior Springs for 26 years. Norma was also a member of the Woods Memorial Christian Church. Norma is survived by three sons, Michael Kistner and wife, Barbara, Raymore, Mo., Steve Kistner and wife, Patty, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Randy Kistner and wife, Julia, Lathrop, Mo.; six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and sister, Joan Johnson. Graveside services for Norma will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Visitation will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2007 at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Nancy L. Shearer
Nancy L. Shearer, 79, of Polo, Mo., passed away Monday morning, February 4, 2008 at Liberty Hospital. Born December 29, 1928 in Excelsior Springs, she was the daughter of Glen and Opal Ware. She was married to Bob Shearer October 2, 1946. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband, Bob, of Polo, Mo.; two sons and one daughter, Robert (Spook) Shearer and wife, Linda, Lawson, Mo., Brad Shearer and wife, Ty, Polo, Mo., and Debbie Glenn and husband, Rick, Lawson, Mo.; two grandchildren, Chad Glenn and wife, Lisa, Lawson, Mo., and Tiffany Pennington and husband, Cody, Kearney, Mo.; four beautiful great-grandchildren, Kayla and Cody Glenn and Madison and Morgan Pennington; two brothers, Bill Ware, Excelsior Springs, and Gary Ware, Mosby; three sisters, Pat Wartenbee, Glenda Pulse and Judy Swope, all of Excelsior Springs and lots of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jean Beason, and an infant son. It was Nancy's request to be cremated and that no public services be held with burial to take place at a later date. Patricia L. Gannon
Patricia Lee Gannon, 46, Independence, Mo., died March 11, 2008, at North Kansas City Hospital.
She is the daughter of the late William and Bettie Wyatt Bradshaw and wife of Mark Gannon.

Raymond R. Baxter
Raymond Ray Baxter, 79, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Excelsior Springs Medical Center. Mr. Baxter was born January 5, 1929 in Vibbard, Mo. He was the son of of William and Grace Simpson Baxter. On September 17, 1948 at Olathe, Kans., he was married to Doris Jean Hutton and to this marriage, two children were born. She preceded him in death in 1977. In June 1979 in Oklahoma he was married to Wilma Lee Randolph who survives. Also surviving are a son, Danny Baxter, Excelsior Springs; a daughter, Angela Elder, Excelsior Springs; one step-son, William Myers, Johnston City, Ill.; six granddaughters, Danica, Darla, Deanna, Karissa, Kelsey and Kara; three grandsons, Jacob, Devin and Clint; one brother, Larry Baxter, Vibbard and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, three sisters and one brother. Raymond was a member of Flack Memorial Christian Union Church and the I.O.O.F. #264. His sense of humor, practical jokes and zerbert kisses will be forever missed. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Flack Memorial Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs. Burial wil be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 noon Sunday at Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rose Marie Bleyenberg
Rose Marie Bleyenberg was born May 13, 1927 and went home to God on January 8, 2008. She attended Guardian Angel Grade School and Liles High School. She was a long time member of St. Therese North Catholic Church and served in various volunteer ministries. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Destroyer Escort Association of WWII. She retired from General Motors.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank A. Bleyenberg. She is survived by five children, Connie Davis and husband, Jim, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Vickie Hamilton and husband, Paul, Kansas City, Mo., John Bleyenbeg, Parkville, Mo., Cheri McCullough and husband, Jim, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Tracy Roberts and husband, Todd, Overland Park, Kans.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving companion of six years, Leland Rinehart, Trimble, Mo. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at St. Therese North Catholic Church, Hwy. 9, Parkville, Mo. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Church. Interment will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Gladstone, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Roger D. Cravens
Roger D. Cravens, Jr., 58, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away at home Sunday, December 02, 2007. Roger was born on September 17, 1949 in Liberty, Mo., to Durwood and Katherine Cravens. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War and went on to become a computer programmer working at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Ga. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Anna (Norton) Cravens, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; son, Shaun Cravens, and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Cravens, both of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and his step-grandchildren, Matthew Graham and Jacob Sampson, Excelsior Springs, Mo. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandmother. A visitation for Roger will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2007 between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
