Kenneth Arnold Redding
Kenneth Arnold Redding, 68, a resident of Fremont, CA, for 40 years, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2003.
Mr. Redding was born May 13, 1930 in Paris. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict, for which he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He belonged to Fremont Senior Center and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by daughter, Tracey L. Redding of Eden, NC; two sons, Kenneth R. Redding of Shelton, WA, and David A. Redding of Fremont; four sisters, Ida M. Warden of Port Orchard, WA, Tommie R. Collins of Pittsburg, Helen L. Easley of Martinez, and Bettie A. Garrett of Albany; two brothers, John A. Redding and Frank Redding, both of Moberly; and 11 grandchildren.
Services were held on Feb. 11 at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA. Among those attending the services, were Frank and Josephine Redding of Moberly.

Miona "Brownie" Blomberg
Miona "Brownie" Blomberg, 86 of Macon, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2003 at Samaritan Hospital in Macon.
Mrs. Blomberg was born July 12, 1913 southwest of Excello, the daughter of Riley and Annie Mae Lunsford Brown. Her father was killed while working in Mine 24 when she was a year old. Her mother then married Finis Miles.
She married Claude Amos Blomberg on Dec. 25, 1941 at Macon and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1997. She was a member of Macon United Methodist Church and was a lifelong Macon County resident.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Richard Stephen; and two half-brothers, Bertram and Arval Miles.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Bro. Howard Hartung officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at Macon.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials suggested to American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.
Robert M. Chapman
Robert M. Chapman, 85, of Moberly died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2003 at 4 p.m. in Moberly Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 25, 1914, at Higbee, a son of William and Margaret Kelso Chapman. Mr. Chapman, who worked for Duplex Products Inc., was a veteran of World War II. He had lived in Moberly since 1971, coming from Illinois. He was a member of the RLDS Church. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Surviving are a sister: Mary Truby, Centralia; one nephew, Don Asbury, Moberly; and two nieces, Roberta Hitt of Moberly and Charlene Shores of Centralia.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home in Moberly. Jack Davison will officiate. Burial will be in Higbee City Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at the funeral home.
Ronald Lee Ward
Ronald Lee Ward, 54, of Columbia, formerly of Moberly, died at 2:07 a.m. Monday in the University Hospital, Columbia.
He was born May 21,1945, in Mexico, a son of Homer Lee and Virgie Simpson Ward. He was a custodian for the Midway Trucking Company. Mr. Ward, who served in the Air Force, moved to Columbia, 12 years ago from Moberly. Mr. Ward was a member of the Latter-Day Saints Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Lee Ward; and one grandson, Gregory Louis Ward.
Surviving are his wife, Donna F., of Columbia; two sons: Derek and Jeffrey Lawrence Ward, both of Columbia; daughter, Cindy Ward Phillippe, and husband, George Lee, also of Columbia; his mother, Virgie Ruth Luntsford; two brothers: Larry Ward of Moberly; and James Luntsford, Springfield, MO; four sisters: Kathy Ward, Rebecca Ward, Marie Ward, and Jan Denning, all of Pawnee, IL; grandchildren: Candice Marie, Derek Franklin, Christopher Michael Ward Walters and Krista Jean and Ashley Nicole Gravitt and Jacob Lee Gravitt; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and step-mother, Bonnie Jean Ward, Pawnee.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home in Moberly. Bishop David Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Moberly.
George A. Rook
George A. Rook, 74, of Moberly died Monday in the emergency room of Moberly Regional Medical Center. He had been in failing health and was taken to the hospital from his home.
Born Oct. 4, 1925, in Chariton County, he was a son of the late George Earl and Leona Winkler Rook. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Wayne.
Mr. Rook had served in the Navy during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge. He was a retired brakeman-conductor for the Norfolk and Western Railway with 30 years of service. Mr. Rook was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and Moberly VFW Post.
He married Altha (Nonie) Dameron on Sept. 12, 1946, at Moberly. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law: Jeanie and Ken Gelski, Moberly; Debbie DeJonge, Columbia, and Patti and Robert Smothers of Moberly; six grandchildren: Scott and Gina Taylor, Tony DeJonge, Ryan, Sarah and Rusty Smothers; seven great-grandchildren: Gaila and Craig DeJonge, Jordan, Abby and Hunter Taylor, Christian Smothers and Aleix Fry; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Virginia and L. A. Terry, Clifton Hill; Mayme and Melvin Harlan, LaFeria, TX; Sue and Dick Eagan, Lee's Summit; Jean and Bill Farnen, Salisbury, and Shirley and Gene Hayward, Garden Grove, CA; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or Diabetes Association.
The body was cremated at his request. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Oakland Cemetery. Dr. Dennis Lake of Central Christian Church will officiate.
Cater Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Moberly, Mo. - Opal White, 93, of Higbee, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Moberly Regional Medical Center.
Services will be Friday 1 p.m. at Cater Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service at Cater Funeral Home.

Perry - Deloress Wanda Tully, 85, of Perry, and formerly of Palmyra and Farber, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Twain Haven Nursing Home in Perry.
Services are pending at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Perry.
Russell L. Rickey
Hannibal Oct. 4, 1925 - Feb. 13, 2003
HANNIBAL - Russell L. Rickey, 77, of Hannibal, died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at his home.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Bear Creek Ceemtery in Hannibal with Pastor Delmar Blase officiating.
There will be no visitation.
The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rickey was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Hannibal to Fred and May Strodoff Rickey.
He was married to Dorothy Utterback on Oct. 22, 1945, in Hiawatha, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Dennis Rickey and wife, Vickie, of Hannibal, Allen Rickey of Moberly and Jeffrey Rickey of Hannibal; one daughter, Pam Lankford and husband, Bill, of Hannibal; two brothers, Roger Jackson of Rapid City, Ill., and Leslie Rickey of Hannibal; three sisters, Aleena Porter of Hamilton, Ill., Katherine Hegwood of Rapid City, and Naomi Wilson, of Camdenton; three grandchildren, Lee Lankford, Lance Lankford and Lori Rickey; and a special great-grandchild, Lilly Nicole Lankford.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Rickey, Melvin Rickey and Marion Rickey; and one sister, Evelyn Rickey.
Mr. Rickey was a self-employed construction worker. He was a Christian by faith.

Robert (Bob) Howard

ELSBERRY - Robert Wilson (Bob) Howard, 74, of Elsberry, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. The Rev. Sue Biggerstaff will officiate. Burial will be at Elsberry City Cemetery.
Mr. Howard was born April 18, 1928, in Elsberry to Other Groves and Gertrude Wilson Howard.
He was married to Kathryn Mae Beaver on Nov. 22, 1953, in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Kay Silver of St. Peters, and Robin Dameron and husband, Gil, and Rhonda Leverington and husband, Niles, all of Elsberry; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Virginia Eberle of Silex; one stepbrother-in-law, Mike Diester of Gladstone; one sister-in-law, Barbara Howard of Elsberry; and several nieces and nephews.

SHELBYVILLE - Jim Christine, 93, of Bethel, died at approximately 7:53 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Chapel in Shelbyville, with the Rev. Greg Linberger officiating. Burial will be in Shelby Memorial Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Christine was born April 1, 1909, in Shelbyville, the son of Charles Henry and Gay Nell Turner Christine.
He married Mildred Pauline Carson on May 17, 1936, in Jewelburg, Colo. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Hawkins, of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother; Tom Will Christine of Shelbyville; and two sisters, Alma Lee McCue and Letha Lucille Brundage, both of Webster Groves.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dennie Lee Allen.
Jewell A. Bruning

TROY - Jewell A. Bruning, 43, of Moscow Mills, died at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Sam Lorton officiating. Burial will be in Sulphur Lick Cemetery in Troy.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bruning was born Dec. 5, 1959, in Troy, the daughter of Louis and Darlene (Howell) Stephens.
She was married to George Bruning on June 12, 1992, in Troy. He survives of Moscow Mills.
Other survivors include three sons: Nathan (Valerie) Stephens of Silex, Alex Bruning of Moscow Mills, and Brandon Bruning of Moscow Mills; two stepsons: Russell Bruning of Truxton and Michael Bruning of Moscow Mills; one stepdaughter, Christie Vanduyn of Wright City; her mother, Darlene Stephens; one brother, Bob Stephens of Hawk Point; one sister, Judy Kay Nealy of Foley; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. Bruning had been assistant manager at Orscheln's Farm & Home Supply of Troy and had also worked at the Lincoln County Sheltered Workshop.
Viola Mae Porter

BOWLING GREEN - Viola Mae Porter, 95, of Bowling Green, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at the Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with the Rev. Ray Hartbarger officiating. Burial will be in the New Liberty Cemetery in Corso.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the funeral home, with an Order of Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m. conducted by Silex Lodge #80.
Mrs. Porter was born Nov. 19, 1907, in Knox City, the daughter of W.W. and Gertie M. Thompson Whiteaker. She was married on Feb. 12, 1926, in New London to Wayne L. Porter. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1974.
Survivors include one son, Donald W. Porter and wife, Clem, of Knox City; one daughter, Dorothy E. Gronek, and husband, Bernard, of St. Peters; one sister, Maude Cockrum of Edina, one sister-in-law, Mary Baxter, of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother -in-law, Paul Cockrum.
She was raised and attended school in Marling. She also attended school in New Hartford. After her marriage, she lived in the Corso area until moving to Bowling Green, where she spent the last several years of her life. She was a member of the O.E.S. Silex Lodge #80 since 1935. In 1954, she was District Deputy Grand Matron. She was a charter member of the Eureka Federated Women's Club from 1933 to 1997. She had been a member of the Olney Methodist Church, then transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church of Bowling Green.
Memorials may be made to the New Liberty Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Gronek, John Gronek, David Gronek, Mark Gronek, Michael Peters, Dennis Briscoe and Phil Stitzer. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Hudson, Michael Hudson, Roland Orf, Kenneth Baxter, Bill Baxter and Elmer Brown.

PALMYRA - Robert L. Rife, 44, of McIntosh, Ala., and formerly of Palmyra, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, in McIntosh.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra with Dennis Fletcher officiating. Burial will be at the Steffenville Cemetery in Steffenville, Mo., with graveside military rites by the Boots-Dickson Post #174 of the American Legion.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Rife was born March 17, 1958, in Hannibal, the son of Bobby G. and Carol White Rife.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Rose of Quincy, Ill.; brothers, Craig Rife and wife, Danita, of Columbia, Gregory Rife and wife, Kelly, of Quincy; paternal grandmother, Wilma Rife of Texas; one uncle, Gary Rife, and wife, Vicki, of Texas; three aunts, Marjorie White of Quincy, Joan Scudella of Quincy, and Jeane Miller of Kansas City, Mo.; nephews and nieces, Dustin Rife, Olivia Rife, Christopher Rife and Kayla Rife.
He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandfather, Leon H. Rife; maternal grandparents, Robert L. and Dorothy M. White; and maternal aunt, Patricia Bross.
He was a 1976 graduate of Palmyra High School. He attended DeVry Technical Institute in Kansas City, Mo., where he studied telecommunications management. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army.
