CANTON - Bob L. Brown, 72, of St. Patrick, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Davis Funeral Home in Canton. Burial will be at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.
Mr. Brown was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Canton to Orville and Isabelle Brown.
He was married to Hazel Oenning on Nov. 7, 1952, in Quincy, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of Ewing; two daughters, Debbie Cooper of Keokuk, Iowa, and Cathy Emery of La Grange; one son, Roddy Brown of St. Patrick; four grandchildren, Jennifer Darley of Canton, Tara Emery of Kirksville, and Amy Brown and Gavin Brown of St. Patrick; two great-grandchildren, Meghan Darley and Kristina Darley of Canton; and two brothers, Charlie Brown of New London and Orville (Junie) Brown of Ewing.
He was preceded in death by his father and one infant brother.
Mr. Brown was a U.S. Marines veteran of the Korean War. He had lived in St. Patrick for 43 years, where he retired from farming 12 years ago.

Joan P. Lawson
Hannibal
Oct. 8, 1931 - Dec. 7, 2002
BOWLING GREEN - Joan P. Lawson, 71, of Hannibal, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green. The Rev. Andrew O'Dowd will officiate. Burial will take place at Bowling Green Memorial Gardens Cemetery Saturday following the memorial service.
A luncheon will then be served in the church fellowship hall.
Kirks Funeral Chapel in Bowling Green is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lawson was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Louisiana to Earnest (Joe) and Restora Branstetter Privett.
She was married to Robert L. Lawson. He survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Joni Pulliam of Utica, N.Y.; one grandson; her mother of Bowling Green; one brother, Bill Privett of Palatine, Ill., and two sisters, Elaine Niemeyer of New Hartford and Linda Akers of Corinth, Miss.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green.

Marie K. Wells
PALMYRA - Marie K. Wells, 77, of Palmyra and formerly of Smithshire, Ill., died at 8:50 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Ellison Cemetery south of Smithshire.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the funeral chapel.

Patricia A. Lockhart
Hannibal
June 12, 1937-Jan. 3, 2003
HANNIBAL - Patricia A. Lockhart, 65, of Hannibal, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at her home.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate.
No visitation is planned.
Mrs. Lockhart was born June 12, 1937, in Hannibal to Dorothy Costello.
Survivors include one uncle, John B. Costello of Quincy, Ill.; one granddaughter, Michelle Lockhart; two great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Billy Jack Lockhart.
Mrs. Lockhart worked in restaurants and nursing homes in the Cincinnati area. She was a member of the Holy Family Church in Hannibal.

Glenn H. Duesdieker
Hannibal
Nov. 7, 1918-Jan. 3, 2003
HANNIBAL - Glenn H. Duesdieker, 84, of Hannibal, died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Robert Duesdieker will officiate. Burial with military rites by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Duesdieker was born Nov. 7, 1918, in Quincy, Ill., to Elmer Duesdieker Sr. and Lena Woerman Duesdieker.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Jean Bylling and husband, Stan, of Denham Springs, La.; one son, the Rev. Robert W. Duesdieker of Boonville; one sister, Dorothy E. Fengel of Quincy; a special friend, Margaret Rhoades of Hannibal; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Duesdieker Jr.
Mr. Duesdieker was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a B&B; mechanic for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He retired as BMWE general chairman.
He was a Presbyterian by faith and a member of Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55. He was a 32rd Degree Mason.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Shriners Children's Hospital and/or the charity of the donor's choice.
Pallbearers will be Ray Ball, Leo Powell, Russell Maple, Birney Newlon, John Hayden and Jim Barnes.

Louema Young Keach Howerton
Mexico
Sept. 2, 1904-Jan. 4, 2003
HANNIBAL - Louema Young Keach Howerton, 98, of Mexico and formerly of Hannibal, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Pin Oaks Nursing Center in Mexico.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Wellsville Cemetery in Wellsville. The Rev. Jan Bond will officiate.
No visitation is planned. Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Howerton was born Sept. 2, 1904, near Wellsville to James Frederick and Isadora Heiney Young.
She was married to Harry Keach. He preceded her in death. She later married Elmo Howerton, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Betty Tapley of Elsberry; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one stepson, David Howerton; and seven brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Howerton worked in the office at International Shoe Co. in Hannibal. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church in Hannibal. She had made her home in Mexico since 1992.

Emma Jean Penick
Hannibal
May 5, 1910-Jan. 5, 2003
HANNIBAL - Emma Jean Penick, 92, of Hannibal, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Private services will be Wednesday, Jan. 8, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hannibal. Pastor Richard Ingmire will officiate. Burial will be at Payson Cemetery in Payson, Ill.
No visitation is planned. James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Penick was born May 5, 1910, in Concordia to Francis F. and Mary E. Huffman Bannan.
She was married to Frank A. Penick on Aug. 1, 1965, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, DeLores Jensen of Hannibal and Virginia Holmes and husband, Charles, of Conyers, Ga.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by nine sisters; and one brother.
Mrs. Penick was a retired nurse who had worked at Carrollton Hospital. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.

Robert L. Mook
Palmyra
Feb. 10, 1922-Jan. 3, 2003
HANNIBAL - Robert L. Mook, 80, of Palmyra, died at 5:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Providence Baptist Church in Withers Mill. Pastor Roger Freels and Brother Bob Wathen will officiate. Burial will military rites by the Palmyra American Legion Post No. 174 will be at Providence Baptist Cemetery at Withers Mill.
James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mook was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Warren to Ben Lee and Oneto Bell VanNoy Mook.
He was married to Gladys Luella Butler on Feb. 9, 1946, in Hannibal. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Larry Mook of Albert Lee, Minn., Gary Mook of Palmyra, and Perry Mook, Terry Mook and Jerry Mook, all of Hannibal; two daughters, Rebecca McCarter and Regina Mook, both of Hannibal; one brother, Marvin Mook of Hannibal; and two sisters, Lucy Bell Martin of Emerson and Mary Ann Hass of the state of Maine; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Roberta Meyers.
Mr. Mook was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He was retired from the Missouri State Highway Department.
He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and Palmyra American Legion Post No. 174.
Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Mike Meyers, Darin Toot, Ben Mook, Jamie Mook, Greg Stolberg and Travis Mook.

Charlotte E. Hymes
Hannibal
May 8, 1946-Jan. 3, 2003
HANNIBAL - Charlotte E. Hymes, 56, of Hannibal, died at 12:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at her home.
A graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate.
No visitation is planned. James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Hymes was born May 8, 1946, in Hannibal to Edward and Laura Stone Hymes.
Survivors include her stepfather, Elmer Phelps of Hannibal; one brother, Richard Hymes of Hannibal; and two nephews, Charles Hymes of Hannibal and Michael Hymes of Harrison, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Phelps.

Helene E. O'Hern
Hannibal
Oct. 13, 1910 - Jan. 2, 2003
HANNIBAL - Helene E. O'Hern, 92, of Hannibal, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. today at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor Tom Day will officiate
The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. O'Hern was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Philadelphia to Frank and Bernice Mae Glascock Dungan.
She was married to Joseph Francis O'Hern on June 11, 1931, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1981.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Colbert and husband, Ronnie, of Hannibal; two nieces, Martha Anderson of Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Leonard of Houston, Texas; one nephew, Dr. Tom O'Hern of Springfield, Ill.; two step-grandchildren, Ronda and Jason Colbert; and her favorite pet cat, Baby.
She was preceded in death by her only grandchild, Frank Dean Piper.
Mrs. O'Hern was a member of Oakwood Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship Group at both the First Christian Church and Oakwood Christian Church. She was a Girl Scout leader and volunteer at the Hannibal Courier-Post folding papers for the Lutheran Church for several years. Mrs. O'Hern also served as a poll judge in Marion County for many years.
Memorials may be made to Oakwood Christian Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Colbert, Kenny Tibbits and Larry Catlett.
