ELSBERRY - Robert Wilson (Bob) Howard, 74, of Elsberry, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. The Rev. Sue Biggerstaff will officiate. Burial will be at Elsberry City Cemetery.
Mr. Howard was born April 18, 1928, in Elsberry to Other Groves and Gertrude Wilson Howard.
He was married to Kathryn Mae Beaver on Nov. 22, 1953, in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Kay Silver of St. Peters, and Robin Dameron and husband, Gil, and Rhonda Leverington and husband, Niles, all of Elsberry; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Virginia Eberle of Silex; one stepbrother-in-law, Mike Diester of Gladstone; one sister-in-law, Barbara Howard of Elsberry; and several nieces and nephews.

SHELBYVILLE - Jim Christine, 93, of Bethel, died at approximately 7:53 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Chapel in Shelbyville, with the Rev. Greg Linberger officiating. Burial will be in Shelby Memorial Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Christine was born April 1, 1909, in Shelbyville, the son of Charles Henry and Gay Nell Turner Christine.
He married Mildred Pauline Carson on May 17, 1936, in Jewelburg, Colo. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Hawkins, of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother; Tom Will Christine of Shelbyville; and two sisters, Alma Lee McCue and Letha Lucille Brundage, both of Webster Groves.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dennie Lee Allen.

Raymond A. Logal, 91, of Hannibal, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Willow Care Center.

PALMYRA - Helen Maurine Young, 91, of Hannibal and Palmyra, died at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Beth-Haven Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. The Rev. James Croft will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the funeral chapel.
Miss Young was born June 24, 1909, in Palmyra to Claude and America Allen Moore Young.
Survivors include one nephew and his wife, James and Sharon Lovelace of Palmyra; three great-nieces, Kaye Lovelace and Nancy Goellner, both of Palmyra, and Jill Chandler of New London; four great-nephews, Mark Lovelace and Michael Lovelace, both of Palmyra, and Jeff Lovelace and John Lovelace, both of Hannibal; two step-nephews, John Muehring Jr. and Cory Muehring, both of New London: and two step-nieces, Shawn O'Brien of Palmyra, and Jenny Siebers of Payson, Ill.
She was preceded in death by one sister Ethelyn Lovelace; and one nephew, Lloyd Lovelace.
Miss Young was a retired school teacher. She had taught at the Turner School in Hannibal for 37 years and Mark Twain schools for seven years. She had attended the former Todd School and was a graduate of Palmyra High School. Her college studies were taken at Kirksville State Teachers College, Columbia College and Stephens College, Columbia.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Hannibal Study Club and General Federation of Women Club. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hannibal and a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in rural Palmyra.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or Bethel Baptist Church.

MONROE CITY - Anna Lou Sloop, 91, of Monroe City and formerly of the Clarksville and Mexico area, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City. Father Bill Flanagan will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Garner Funeral Home in Monroe City.
Mrs. Sloop was born Feb. 26, 1910, in Monroe County to William H. and Anna Victoria Hays Mudd.
She was married to Raymond Victor Sloop on Dec. 26, 1929, in Palmyra. He preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1952.
Mr. and Mrs. Sloop had no children.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews, including Betty Burditt of Mexico, Nellie Yates of Monroe City, John J. and Joe R. Quinn of Columbus, Ohio and Vickie Quinn of San Francisco, Calif.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Agnes Mudd, Rose Spalding, Alice Quinn and Mary Mudd; and five brothers, Joe, Wilfred, George, Lambert and John Mudd.
Mrs. Sloop attended Holy Rosary schools and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. After leaving the Monroe City area she had lived in several communities. She was a clerk for J.C. Penney stores for many years until her retirement.
Memorials may be made to Holy Rosary Church or the Monroe City Nutrition Center.

HANNIBAL - Marjorie Sue Locke, 73, of rural Hannibal, died at 8:15 p.m. Feb. 12, 2000, at her home in Ralls County near Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Hydesburg United Methodist Church. The Revs. Margie McDaniel Woods and W. Charles Goe will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Mrs. Locke was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Hannibal to Moss H. and Mary Frances Painter Goe.
She was married to Billy Eugene Locke on Dec. 7, 1944, in Hannibal. He survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Phyllis Thomas of Readyville, Tenn., Beverly Calvert of Hannibal, Gayle Stapleton of Arlington, Texas, and Marjorie Biddle of Columbia; five grandchildren, Audrey Calvert and Blake Calvert, both of Hannibal, Ricky Thomas and Rob Thomas, both of Readyville, and Jacob Biddle of Columbia; and one brother, the Rev. W. Charles Goe of Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Eugene Locke; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Blair.
Mrs. Locke was a member of Hydesburg United Methodist Church and the Kum Join Us Class at the church.
She was a homemaker. She was a 1944 graduate of Hannibal High School.

Mrs. Dodd was born Jan. 22, 1968, in Hannibal to Oscar T. and Sandra K. McDonald Rickey.
She was married to James Dodd on Nov. 12, 1988. He survives.
Other survivors include her mother of Hannibal; her grandmother, Florence G. Rickey of Hannibal; one son, William Oscar Rickey Dodd of the home; one daughter, Ashley Rochell Dodd of the home; three brothers, Thomas J. Rickey, William E. Rickey and Kenneth W. Rickey, all of Hannibal; and three sisters, Brenda K. Charlton, Sheila A. Freiling and Mildred D. Dodd, all of Hannibal.
Mrs. Dodd was a homemaker.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Chapel in Shelbina. The Rev. Paul Patterson will officiate. Burial will be at Shelby Memorial Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Kellogg was born in Lakenan on Dec. 10, 1915, to Samuel Gerard and Golda Bell Wood Kellogg.
He was never married.
Survivors include several cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Lyman Kellogg.
Mr. Kellogg was a Baptist by faith and a graduate of Hunnewell High School.

HANNIBAL - David C. Drake, 77, of Hannibal, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Levering Regional Healthcare Center in Hannibal.
There will be no services. Burial will be at the Illinois Veterans Cemetery in Quincy, Ill. The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Drake was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Peoria, Ill., to David C. and Grace F. Newsan Drake.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II.

PALMYRA - Robert L. Rife, 44, of McIntosh, Ala., and formerly of Palmyra, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, in McIntosh.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra with Dennis Fletcher officiating. Burial will be at the Steffenville Cemetery in Steffenville, Mo., with graveside military rites by the Boots-Dickson Post #174 of the American Legion.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Rife was born March 17, 1958, in Hannibal, the son of Bobby G. and Carol White Rife.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Rose of Quincy, Ill.; brothers, Craig Rife and wife, Danita, of Columbia, Gregory Rife and wife, Kelly, of Quincy; paternal grandmother, Wilma Rife of Texas; one uncle, Gary Rife, and wife, Vicki, of Texas; three aunts, Marjorie White of Quincy, Joan Scudella of Quincy, and Jeane Miller of Kansas City, Mo.; nephews and nieces, Dustin Rife, Olivia Rife, Christopher Rife and Kayla Rife.
He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandfather, Leon H. Rife; maternal grandparents, Robert L. and Dorothy M. White; and maternal aunt, Patricia Bross.
He was a 1976 graduate of Palmyra High School. He attended DeVry Technical Institute in Kansas City, Mo., where he studied telecommunications management. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army.
