Lexy (Maggie) Winget
HANNIBAL - Lexy (Maggie) Winget, 85, of Hannibal, died at 11:39 a.m. April 21, 1999, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Winget will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
Dr. Marvin Jones will officiate.
Burial will be at Cedar Groves Cemetery in Shelby County.
Mrs. Winget was born March 7, 1914, in Cherry Box to Rufus C. and Nora Ellen Humphrey Hollyman Sr.
She was married to Ernest Winget on May 1, 1952. He preceded her in death Sept. 18, 1955.
Survivors include one niece, Jean Schoonover of Quincy, Ill.; and four nephews, Norman Hayes, Bill Hayes and John Paul Hayes, all of Quincy, and Albert Hayes of Morning Sun, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Orville Hollyman, Everett Hollyman, Carl Hollyman, Rufus (Buster) Hollyman and one infant brother; and two sisters, Anna Mae Bauerrichter and Lorraine Hayes.
Mrs. Winget was a retired restaurant worker having worked for Taco King.
She was a member of the Hannibal Fellowship Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Hayes, Norman Hayes, Wayne Schoonover, Archie Hayden, Jerome Foust and Bill Bounds.
Paul F. (Doc) Wright
HANNIBAL -- Paul F. (Doc) Wright, 81, of Hannibal, died at 12:55 p.m. April 21, 1999, at Beth-Haven Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Wright are pending at the Smith Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Vivian A. Hendricks
HANNIBAL - Vivian A. Hendricks, 77, of New London, died at 11:45 p.m. April 20, 1999, at her home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hendricks will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
James Paul Holman
HANNIBAL - James Paul Holman, 41, of Hannibal, died at 3:15 p.m. Oct. 1, 1999, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Holman will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery in New London.
Mr. Holman was born May 29, 1958, in Hannibal, to Joseph M. and Jo Ann Engleman Holman.
Survivors include his mother of Hannibal; four brothers, Tom Holman, John Holman and Dan Holman, all of Hannibal, and Greg Holman of Center; three sisters, Mary Martin of Center, Barbara Mayfield of Macomb, Ill., and Leigh Holman of Hannibal.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Pallbearers will be Joe Holman, James Holman, Michael Holman, Jason Holman, John Holman and Stephen Martin.
Elise Farmer
HANNIBAL - Elise Elizabeth Parrish Farmer, 96, of Hannibal, died at 3:15 p.m. Oct. 1, 1999 at Willow Care Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Farmer will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Chapel.
Rev. Margie McDaniel Woods will officiate.
Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
Mrs. Farmer was born May 17, 1903 at Nebo, Kan., to Jefferson Boyd and Madora Cates Parrish.
She married Delmar J. Farmer on Aug. 14, 1924 in Madisonville, Kan.
He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1984.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, including Don Farmer and Judy Farmer, both of Marco Island, Fla., and Nancy Smith of Wrightwood, Calif.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Shanks and Helen Cox.
Mrs. Farmer formerly worked at Robinson Paint & Wallpaper in Hannibal.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Whatsoever Sunday School Class at the church, and the United Methodist Women.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
Elmer Stratton, Jr.
PALMYRA - Elmer Lee (E.L.) Stratton Jr., 80, of Maywood, died at 7 a.m. Oct. 1, 1999, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.
Funeral services for Mr. Stratton will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hester Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hester Baptist Church.
The Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be contributed to the Hester Baptist Church or Maple Lawn Auxiliary.
George Owens
CENTER - George C. Owens, 62, of Center, died at 6:54 a.m. Sept. 24 at his home.
A memorial service for Mr. Owens will be conducted today at the Apostolic Holiness Church in Hannibal.
The Rev. Roger Grohman will officiate.
Mr. Owens was Born Nov. 11., 1936, in Poynor to George L. and July Rafferty Owens.
He was married to Mary Horn on Sept. 1, 1962. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Carl Owens of Rolla, Gary Owens and Justin Owens, both of Center; one brother, Rayborn Owens of Marquand; and one sister, Ruby Hurst of Poplar Bluff; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Hernandez; and six brothers, Wesley Owens, David Owens, Rex Owens, Asel Owens and two infant brothers.
Mr. Owens had lived in Center for one year, coming from Rolla.
Before his retirement, he was a metal worker for an industrial painting company.
There will be no visitation.
The Wilkey Funeral Home in Center is in charge of arrangements.
W. Ray Merckling
TROY - W. Ray Merckling, 75, of Troy, died at 5:55 p.m., Sept. 30, 1999, at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Merckling will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the McCoy and Blossom Funeral Home.
The body will be cremated.
Burial will be at the Old Alexandria Cemetery at Troy.
He was born July 12, 1924, in Grant City to H.D. and Mary Watson Merckling.
He was married to June Cornwell.
She preceded him in death Oct. 10, 1977.
He was later married to Lettie Cobb.
She preceded him in death Oct. 31, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Ben R. Merckling of Troy and Iona Merckling of Silex; three daughters, Pam. E. Smith of Troy, Constance E. Curts-Lawrence of Lees Summit and Cheryl A. Jose of Troy; one brother, Charles Merckling of Troy, two sisters, Helen Luckett of Freeburg, Ill., and Kathryn Luckett of Troy; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by one daughter, Francine Maxam on Jan. 1, 1990.
Mr. Merckling had worked as a security guard for many years at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy.
He also worked in maintenance at Jones and Vining in Troy and also as an aircraft mechanic at McDonnell Douglas.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Troy.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses building fund on donor's choice in c/o McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home.
