TROY - Alma (Topsy) Harrell, 82, of Troy, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Elderhaus Inn in Troy.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Troy. The Rev. David Stewart will officiate. Burial will be at Thornhill Cemetery in Troy.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 10, at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Harrell was born July 3, 1921, in Lincoln County to John Joseph and Netti Mae Hombs Schieffer.
She was married to James Harrell. He preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Jim (Kathleen) Harrell of Troy and Terry Harrell of Hannibal; one daughter, Pat (Dennis) Freise of Old Monroe; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Schieffer of Florida and Albert "Sonny" (Betty) of Moscow Mills; and two sisters, Teresa Harrell and Elenora Schafer, both of Moscow Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; four brothers; and four sisters.
Alex Rajt
WALLED LAKE, Mich. - Alex Rajt, 81, of St. Johns, Mich., and formerly of Livonia, Mich., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004.
Husband of 57 years to Rosemary; father of Michael (Gail), Gloria Wallick, Harry (Joanne), Marvin (Diane), Doris (John) Loomans, Mark (Sue), Lucille (Mike) Mulvahill, Rosemary (Richard) Bissell, Eugene, Timothy (Ann), and Daniel Rajt; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Most Holy Trinity Church in Fowler, Mich. Burial will be at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 10, and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home in Walled Lake, Mich.

VANDALIA - Mae Emma Hartung, 87, of Vandalia, died at 2:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the Vandalia Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Franklin officiated.
Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hartung was born Oct. 9, 1916, in rural Vandalia to Claude R. and Elsie M. Day Caldwell.
She was married to Reginald J. Hartung on Feb. 3, 1940, in Bowling Green. He preceded her in death Feb. 25, 2001.
Survivors include two sisters, Clarice Fowler of Kansas City and Eleanor Gass of Durango, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hartung has been a secretary to the Vandalia State Bank president for many years prior to her retirement. She was a 1934 graduate of Vandalia High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, where she taught Sunday s0chool for many years.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Vandalia.
Pallbearers were Conrad Sankpill and Alan Sankpill.
Lester Brosi
Quincy, Ill.
March 6, 1918 - Feb. 7, 2004
QUINCY, Ill. - Lester Brosi, 85, of Quincy, Ill., died at 8:02 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today, Feb. 10, at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Morwell will officiate. Burial, with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post No. 37, will be at Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.
Mr. Brosi was born March 6, 1918, in Quincy to Arthur W. and Lettitia Stout Brosi.
He was married to Betty Schaffer on Jan. 30, 1947, in Troy, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include one brother, Roy Brosi and wife, Ann, of Hannibal; one sister, Lela (Lee) Lindsay of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Brosi was a 1936 graduate of Quincy High School and a member of Union United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 for 59 years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and was an avid Cardinal baseball fan.
Mr. Brosi served his country in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, during World War II. He served in the South Pacific, seeing action in the campaigns in Fiji, New Hebrides, Guadalcanal, Bougainville and the Philippine Islands. He received the Bronze Battle Star and the Purple Heart.
He joined his father and brother in the Hannibal Monument Co. after he returned home from the service. He worked there until his retirement in 1984. The business continues today.

Alma B. Clark

PERRY - Alma Burneita Clark, 89, of Perry, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Twain Haven Nursing Home in Perry.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Bienhoff Funeral Home. Dr. Dale Jorgenson will officiate. Burial will be at Center Cemetery in Center.
Visitation will be from noon until time of services today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Clark was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Perry to Roy Clifford and Daisy Mae Stuller Shulse.
Survivors include three sisters, Lila Mae Poyser and Edna Drake, both of Perry, and Margaret Snow of Lamar; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Lorene Clark and Louise Gee; four brothers, Woodrow Shulse, Eugene Shulse, Wade Alfred Shulse and Roy Lee Shulse; and two sisters, Helen Hogg and Marie Shulse.
Mrs. Clark was a member of Perry Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the WPFA Town & Country Club and Ralls County OATS. She worked as a caregiver.
Memorials may be made to Twain Haven Nursing Home.

LOUISIANA - Betty Louella Bowler, 65, of Silex and formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Silex Community Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Steve Summers will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bowler was born Feb. 1, 1938, in Ashburn to Olaf William and Beulah Corum Anderson.
She was married to Eddie Bowler.
Survivors include one daughter, Rose Mary House and husband, William, of Clarksville; two sons, Mike Bowler of Frankford and James Bowler of Louisiana; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, William L. Anderson of Ashburn and James M. Anderson of Columbia; one sister, Nettie B. Darnell of Ashburn; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Edward Bowler Jr. and Timothy Allen Bowler; and one brother, Donald Anderson.
Mrs. Bowler was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Louisiana.
Kaye Adams

TROY - Kaye Adams, 46, of St. Peters and formerly of Troy, died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy. The Rev. Allen Savage will officiate. Burial will be at Troy City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Adams was born April 9, 1956, in Troy to Ivo and Vera Clark Dryden.
Survivors include two sons, Brandon Adams and Christopher Adams, both of St. Peters; one grandchild, Elijah Adams of St. Peters; two brothers, Arnold (Selina) Dryden of Bowling Green and Clarence (Yong) Dryden of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Hazel Cockrell of St. Peters and Margaret Garner of Orange County, Calif.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Robert Dryden.
Mrs. Adams was a homemaker.

Joseph (Joe) Stamp

PARIS - Joseph P. (Joe) Stamp, 52, of Paris, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bethlehem Cemetery in Anabel. The Rev. John Grimmett will officiate.
Visitation was Sunday at Agnew Funeral Home in Paris.
Mr. Stamp was born March 1, 1950, in Macon to James and Louvenia Bange Stamp.
Survivors include one brother, Herman Stamp of Paris; five sisters, Lomie Worley of Orange, Texas, Elizabeth Stamp of Paris, Kathryn Sellens of Hamilton, Ill., Pearl Patrick of Eolia and Lavonda Nickell of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George Stamp; and one infant sister.
Mr. Stamp was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He worked as a groundskeeper at Mark Twain Country Club before becoming ill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, tractor pulls and demolition derbies.
Ada Dorothy Grimes

LOUISIANA - Ada Dorothy Grimes, 90, of Eolia, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Eolia Methodist Church. Burial will be at Eolia Cemetery.
Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Grimes was born April 28, 1912, in St. Louis County to Edward Henry and Cora Alice Kendall Evering.
She was married to T.J. Grimes on April 5, 1930, in Wentzville. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1974.
Survivors include three sons, Tom Grimes of Middletown, Del., Les Grimes of O'Fallon and Jim Grimes of Eolia; two daughters, Joyce Owens of Palmyra and Sandi Hurd of Lake Saint Louis; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Janoski of Florissant; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Viola Sutton.
Mrs. Grimes was a member of Eolia Christian Church and a former member of the Eastern Star in Eolia.

Orville E. Dowell

VANDALIA - Orville E. Dowell, 91, of Vandalia, died at 11:30 p.m. Feb. 8, 2000, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. The Rev. Bob Hoehn will officiate. Burial will be at the Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Dowell was born Jan. 22, 1909, in Ralls County to Marsh E. and Grace Brice Dowell.
He was married to Etta Frances Storck on May 30, 1931, in Vandalia. She preceded him in death Dec. 13, 1995.
Survivors include five daughters, Ruth Caldwell of Vandalia, Phyllis Dowell of Diamondhead, Miss., Christina Brandenburger of Troy, Helen Rice of Bowling Green and Bonnie Krigbaum of Hannibal; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dowell had farmed all his life until moving to town in 1985. He was a lifelong Vandalia area resident. He attended area schools and the Hays Creek Christian Church. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Jim Tipton, Michael Caldwell, Marshal Caldwell, Gary Dowell, Kenny Burke and Joe Hassien.
Honorary pallbearer will be David Tipton.
