WEST ALLIS, Wis. - Kenneth Edward Reed, 71, of New Berlin, Wis., and formerly of Louisiana, Mo., died Feb. 3, 2000, at Froedtert Hospital in West Allis, Wis.
Funeral services were conducted Feb. 6 at Krouse Funeral Home in West Allis.
Mr. Reed was born July 20, 1928, in Louisiana to Homer Earl and Nina Edwards Reed.
He was married to Mary Ann Anderson on Feb. 2, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wis. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, John Kenneth of West Allis, Daniel Joseph of Watertown, Wis., Robert Earl of Chicago, Ill., and David Edward of New Berlin; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Kevin Reed, both of West Allis, and Cassandra Reed of Chicago; two brothers, Homer Earl Reed of Corona del Mar, Calif., and John Alan Reed of Keosauqua, Iowa.; and one sister, Sarah Jane Branstetter of Louisiana.
Mr. Reed was a 1946 graduate of Louisiana High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Missouri. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces for two years during the Korean Conflict. He was an agricultural engineer and worked for Allis Chalmers in Des Moines, Iowa, and Milwaukee, Wis., for more than 40 years before retiring in 1992.
George L. Boulware

LOUISIANA - George Lewis Boulware, 70, of Louisiana, died Feb. 8, 2000, at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Boulware will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Gene Nothacker will officiate. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Boulware was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Mexico to Marion L. and Dora Mae Cawthorn Boulware.
He was married to Reba L. Phillips on Oct. 25, 1947, in Mexico. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Dean L. Boulware of Louisiana; two daughters, Connie L. Verpaele and Vicky L. Woods, both of Louisiana; four grandchildren, Sena L. Cole, Jessie E. Woods II, Lori L. Woods and Wesley D. Boulware, all of Louisiana; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Boulware of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Boulware.
Mr. Boulware began his employment with MFA grain terminal in Mexico at the age of 18. He transferred from the Mexico terminal to the MFA grain terminal in Louisiana in 1954. He was the maintenance supervisor for 40 years and retired in 1994.
Mr. Boulware was a member of the Midway Christian Church in Mexico. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Pallbearers will be Jessie E. Woods, Jay Woods, Randy Boulware, Bob Bierly, Marell Turner and Merlin Singleton.
James H. Bastian

MIAMI, Fla. - James H. (Jim) Bastian, 72, of Miami, Fla., died Jan. 30, 2000, at his home.
A Mass of Christian burial was conducted Feb. 1 at the Church of the Epiphany in Miami.
He was married to Mary Jane Zugel in February 1955. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rapheal Boink and Marquette Arnold; two sons, Bartholomew and Boniface Bastian; one granddaughter, Kateri Boink; and one sister, Betty Starrett of Hannibal.
Mr. Bastian was born and raised in Hannibal. He was a graduate of Hannibal High School and the University of Missouri in Columbia. He later attended law school at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He spent most of his life in Washington, D.C. and Miami, Fla. He was an attorney and later became the chairman of the board and owner of Southern Air Transport Company. Mr. Bastian was an active member of several aviation, social and civic organizations.
Joseph F. Hayden

PALMYRA - Joseph F. Hayden, 74, of Palmyra, died at 6:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Palmyra. Father Daniel Lueckenotte will officiate. Burial, with military rites by the Boots-Dickson Post No. 174 of the American Legion, will be at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Palmyra.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with Scripture services at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
Mr. Hayden was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Palmyra to David R. and Mary Crane Hayden.
He was married to Alta Jane Rothweiler on Aug. 14, 1947, in Palmyra. She preceded him in death May 15, 1996.
Survivors include one son, Jack Hayden of Woodbridge, Va.; one brother, Donald Hayden of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two grandchildren, Jacqueline Anne Hayden and Jonathan Hayden, both of Woodbridge.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Chester, James, David and Bill Hayden; and one sister, Florence Smith.
Mr. Hayden was a former postmaster, letter carrier and clerk for the Palmyra Post Office where he retired in 1970. Later, he worked as an insurance claims representative for both Etna Life and Casualty and United Van Lines Insurance companies in St. Louis. He also had worked part-time for Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
He was a graduate of Palmyra High School and served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees in Okinawa during World War II. He was a Past Grand Knight, 4th Degree Knight and District Deputy with the Palmyra Council of the Knights of Columbus. He was a former president of the Palmyra Home and School Club and a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a chairman of the Palmyra Committee for Pony Express History. He was a member and former trustee of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Palmyra.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or Gardner House Historical Museum.
Susie Jane Selsor
Belton, Texas

HANNIBAL - Susie Jane Selsor, 94, of Hannibal, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at her daughter's home in Belton, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Selsor was born March 10, 1906, in Ottumwa, Iowa to George Washington and Christine Wiese Mann.
She was married to Homer W. Selsor on March 17, 1939. He preceded her in death May 14, 1965.
Survivors include one son, Donald Wilson, of Hot Springs, Ark.; two daughters, Betty Johnson, of East Moline, Illinois, and Christina Francis, of Belton; one sister, Alma Stone, of Hannibal; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sons, Junior Lee Wilson, Forest R. Wilson, Barney Odell Wilson, James Allen Wilson, Ronald E. Selsor and an infant son.
Mrs. Selsor was retired from the Lutheran Hospital in Moline, Ill., where she had worked as a cook. She had attended the Calvary Baptist Church and was a long-time member of the Eagles Lodge in Hannibal.

Charles Irvin Harrison

LOUISIANA - Charles Irvin Harrison, 84, of Louisiana, died Feb. 9, 2000, at Maple Grove Lodge Nursing Home in Louisiana.
Funeral services for Mr. Harrison will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Paul Lewis will officiate. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana. Members of the American Legion Post 370 will conduct graveside military honors.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the funeral home.
Mr. Harrison was born July 26, 1915, in Mexico to George and Margaret Morgan Harrison.
He was married to Juanita Penrod. She preceded him in death April 16, 1985.
Survivors include six sons, John Harrison of Louisiana, Carl Harrison of Pleasant Hill, Ill., Charles Robert Harrison of Quincy, Ill., Richard Harrison of Louisiana, Kenneth Harrison of Rockport, Ill., and Ross Harrison of Bowling Green; three daughters, Billie Ruth Wharton of Louisiana, Mary Frances Harrison of Mexico and Juanita Louise McLeod of Hannibal; two brothers, Albert Harrison of Annada and Bill Harrison of Hannibal; two sisters, Frances Painter of Louisiana and Ruth Coolidge of St. Louis; 28 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; one brother, Everett Harrison; three sisters, Betty Winn, Marie Smith and Pauline Forendo; and five grandchildren.
He had been employed by Bose Cascade Pre-Fab Housing Company in St. Charles as a carpenter until his retirement in 1976. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Pallbearers will be John Harrison, Carl Harrison, Butch Harrison, Richard Harrison, Kenneth Harrison and Ross Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Harrison, Kenneth Harrison II, Edward Hoffman, Glen Wharton, Robbie Harrison and Ross Harrison II.
Melvin O. Tompkins

TROY - Melvin O. Tompkins, 72, of Troy, died Feb. 8, 2000, at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy. The Rev. Gary E. Berry will officiate. Burial will be at Troy City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Tompkins was born June 4, 1927, in Qulin to John Wesley and Florence Davis Tompkins.
He was married to Geneva L. Tompkins on March 2, 1957, in East St. Louis, Ill. She preceded him in death May 10, 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Tompkins of Silex and Johnny and Calvin Tompkins, both of Troy; two daughters, Janice Twellman and Carol Wieman, both of Troy; five brothers, Ray Tompkins of Pollard, Ark., Bill Tompkins and Theron Tompkins, both of Patterson, Glen Tompkins of Qulin and Jerry Tompkins of Belleville, Ill.; four sisters, Ruby Pierce of Qulin, Dorothy Martin of O'Fallon, Betty Davis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Margie O'Donnell of Dellwood; 11 grandchildren; and special friends, Jack and Dot Smith of Troy.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Esther Marie Tompkins; and two brothers, Chester Tompkins and Sylvester Tompkins.
Mr. Tompkins had worked as a mechanic at the McDonnell-Douglas Corp., in St. Louis for more than 32 years and also farmed in Lincoln County. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Memorials may be made to the Tompkins family or to the Leukemia Society, in care of the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home.
Frederick E. Norman

HANNIBAL - Frederick E. Norman, 73, of Hannibal, died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Wes Tischer will officiate. Burial with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home.
Mr. Norman was born Oct. 1, 1930, in Kirksville to Frederick C. and Emma Mae Van Buskirk Norman.
He was married to Clara E. Fry on Dec. 28, 1951, in Ocean City, N.J. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Elaine Benson and husband, Denny, of Hannibal; two sons, Kenneth Norman of Hannibal and David Norman and wife, Mary, of Hannibal; six grandchildren, Carrie Benson, Chrissy Benson, Katherine Norman, Jonathan Norman, Matthew Norman and Danny Norman.
Mr. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; and one infant son, Daniel.
Mr. Norman retired from Standard Printing Co. after working for more than 20 years as a lithographer. He was twice past commander of American Legion Post No. 55, past officer of the 40 and 8 Club and a Mason of St. John's Lodge No. 28. Mr. Norman served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Protestant by faith.
Mr. Norman will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather, who was always thinking of what was best for them. To his friends, Mr. Norman was a loyal companion, who loved hunting, fishing and playing cards.
Memorials may be made to the Masonic Temple Association of Hannibal.
Pallbearers will be Jack K. Greathouse, Jason Greathouse, Denny Benson, Tommy Miller, Jim Riley and William Richmond.

John Morris Deason

GLENDALE, Ariz. - John Morris Deason, 71, of Glendale, Ariz., died Jan. 27, 2000, in Glendale.
Burial was at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Hannibal to Leslie C. and Bertha Morris Deason.
He was married to Maria Reyes of Phoenix. She survives
Other survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth Ann, Susan, Joan and Leslye; six sons, Jim, John, David, Robert, Shawn and Don; two brothers, George Deason of Hannibal and Robert Deason of Mexico; one sister, Marie Deason Bastian; 24 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Deason was a 1947 graduate of Hannibal High School and attended Kirksville State Teachers College. He later joined the U.S. Air Force.
Paul E. Jones
Monroe City

MONROE CITY - Paul Everett Jones, 94, of Monroe City, died at 2:12 a.m. Feb. 9, 2000, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe City. The Rev. Peggy Jeffries will officiate. Burial will be at the DeMoss Cemetery in Ralls County.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Garner Funeral Home in Monroe City and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.
Mr. Jones was born Oct. 29, 1905, in Ralls County to Presley Nixon (Bud) and Anna Belle Melson Jones.
He was married to Leta Ione Young on April 10, 1927, in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Pauletta Meyer of San Dimas, Calif., and Susie Hopkins of Ankeny, Iowa; two sons, Jack Jones of Monroe City and Don Jones of Columbia; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, Ronald and Elaine Jones; and one sister, Dilola Turnbull.
Mr. Jones attended the Hereford School in Ralls County and was a graduate of Monroe City High School. For many years he was a dairy farmer and grain farmer in Ralls County. He also raised many horses and ponies. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Monroe City, served on the DeMoss Cemetery Board, the Sheltered Workshop board, helped organize the Monroe City Nutrition Center, drove a school bus for the Shelbina School District and managed the Hunnewell Lake.
Memorials may be made to the Monroe City Nutrition Center or the organ fund of the New United Methodist Church in Monroe City.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Burditt, John Creasman, Wayne Tipton, Mike Turnbull, Jeff Turnbull and Pat Turnbull.
