Rev. Corwin Sanders

KAHOKA, Mo. - Rev. Corwin Sanders, 76, of rural Kahoka, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at his home.
He was born on March 13, 1926, in Keokuk, the son of Everitte and Lola Hopp Sanders. He married
Deloris Rube on June 1, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Keokuk. She survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Corwin Dale Sanders and his wife, Cindy, of Keokuk and Steven Paul Sanders and his wife, Shirley, of St. Charles, Mo.; five grandchildren, Chadwick Dale Sanders and his wife, Jannifer, Robert Matthew Sanders and his wife, Shannon, Emma Suzanne Sanders, Stephanie Jane Parker and her husband, Brian, Kimberly Jane Sanders; and a great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Dianne Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He attended Keokuk schools and graduated from Keokuk High School. He attended Northern Baptist Seminary and later graduated from Miami Christian University.
Mr. Sanders was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.
He was the founding pastor of the Bethel Bible Church in Donnellson and also a Bible Church in Harlingen, Texas.
Mr. Sanders was well-known in the area having served as interim pastor in many church in southeast Iowa and Missouri. He last served as pastor in Revere, Mo. in 2001.
He enjoyed carpentry, working in his garden and going fishing.
Funeral services were today at the Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk, with Pastor Craig Burton officiating.
Burial with military rites was in Oakland cemetery, Keokuk.
Visitation was Sunday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.
Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Free Church or the New Tribes Mission.
Lorene Fish
Nov. 18, 1908 - Oct. 21, 2002
KAHOKA, Mo. - Lorene Fish, 93, of Kahoka, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1908, in St. Francisville, Mo., the daughter of Peter and Zena Yates Egley. She married
Joe Fish on March 7, 1930, in Canton, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1998.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Jo Meyers and her husband, William, of Treasure Island, Fla.; a son, John Fish of Treasure Island; six grandchildren, Michael Meyers, Susan Meyers, Daniel Meyers, David Fish, Bill Meyers and Stephen Fish; 13 great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Eden, Faith, Avalon, Amber, Danny, Ariel, Mary Grace, Ryan, Amelia, Andrew, Liane and Tracy; and a host of friends.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Egley.
She taught school at the Sand Hill School near Wayland, Mo.
She and her husband were in business together for 50 years.
Mrs. Fish was an original caregiver and was always helping someone in need. She also volunteered at the nursing home and loved to cook for other people.
Mrs. Fish was a member of the Kahoka Christian Church.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, with the Rev. Shawn McAfee officiating.
Burial will be in the Kahoka City cemetery.
Visitation is after 1 p.m. Wednesday with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Sever Library in Kahoka or the Kahoka cemetery.
Dorothy Eileen Cunningham
March 30, 1924 - May 29, 2000
KAHOKA, Mo. - Dorothy Eileen Cunningham, 76, of Kahoka, Mo., died Monday, May 29, 2000, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born on March 30, 1924, in Hamilton, Ill., the daughter of Carl and Neva Simpson Anderson. She married
Thomas Cunningham on April 15, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo. He survives.
Additional survivors include: a daughter, Jeanette Turnbull of Kahoka; two sons, Ted Cunningham and his wife, Pat, of Muskegon, Mich., and Gerald Cunningham of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Sylvia Fry of Bedford, Texas; a brother, Robert Anderson of Spicewood, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Kahoka cemetery in Kahoka, with the Rev. Gary Payne officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka is in charge of arrangements.
Kimberlie Renae Simpson
Feb. 15, 1987 - Sept. 29, 2000
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Kimberlie Renae Simpson, 13, of Columbia, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at the Boone Hospital Center.
She was born on Feb. 15, 1987, in Hutchinson, Kan., to David Simpson and Tammy Simpson Stiverson.
Survivors include: her parents, David and Jameda Simpson; her mother, Tammy Stiverson of Huntsville; her grandparents, John and Louise Hickey of Hamilton, Ill., JoAnn and Jimmie Wilkerson of Riverton and Donald and Annette Stiverson of Brooksville, Fla.; her brothers, David, Daniel and Michael Simpson, all of Columbia; and her sisters, Shawna and Amie Simpson of Columbia, and Melanie Ashford of Port Richey, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Kenneth Hoyt Simpson.
She was a seventh-grader at Lange Middle School and a member of Christian Chapel. She had also been home schooled for four years.
At Christian Chapel, she had recently earned her Honor Star award after four years in the Missionette program, a girls club based on Bible study. She was also a member of Friends Bible Study, a program for teenage girls.
Sine she was a little girl, she had sung in the children's choir at her church. One of her greatest dreams was to attend North Central Bible College in Minnesota and become a professional Christian singer.
Miss Simpson was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Columbia.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Christian Chapel with the Revs. Gary Denbow, Tracy Cook and Kenneth R. Simpson (her uncle) officiating.
Her organs were donated and burial was Tuesday in Columbia cemetery, Columbia.
A memorial service was Wednesday at Victory Christian Center in Hamilton, Ill.
Visitation was Monday at the Christian Chapel, 3300 S. Providence Road.

Forrest L. 'Newt' Springer

KAHOKA, Mo. - Forrest L. "Newt" Springer, 81, of Kahoka, Mo., died Saturday, April 26, 2003, in the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison.
He was born Aug. 12, 1921 in Lee County, the son of Cort and Violet Kinkeade Springer. He married
Neva Jeffers on Aug. 16, 1943, in Kahoka. She survives.
Additional survivors include: four sons, Brian Springer and his wife, Pat, of Kahoka, Dan Springer and his wife, Jo, of Fayetteville, Ga., Steve Springer and his wife, Brenda, of Coulterville, Calif., and Cort Springer and his wife, Bev, of West Point; two daughters, Kathy Long and her husband, Terry, of St. Francisville, Mo., and Kim Marshall of Waterford, Calif.; a sister, Marjorie Leazer Emmitt of Montrose; three sisters-in-law, Gertrude McCarty of Fort Madison, Mary Case of Los Angeles, Calif., and Joan Evans of Letts; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donnie Marshall.
He graduated from Argyle High School. He was a retired 33-year employee of General Mills of Keokuk.
He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, and volunteering at the Clark County Nutrition Center and the Clark County Food Pantry.
Mr. Springer was a member of the St. Francisville United Methodist Church and had been active in the Wayland United Methodist Church in most recent years.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Rebecca Peak officiating.
Burial will be in Sand cemetery at St. Francisville.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Francisville or Wayland United Methodist churches or to the Clark County Nutrition Center.
Marie 'Helen' Davidson
April 25, 1905 - May 31, 2003
KAHOKA, Mo. - Marie "Helen" Davidson, 98, of Kahoka, Mo., formerly of Wayland, Mo., died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born on April 25, 1905, near Wayland, the daughter of Walter J. and Mary Schreck Pence. She married
Willis Glen Davidson on Dec. 30, 1938. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1969.
Survivors include: three sisters, Rose Maerz of Keokuk, Frances Bliven of LaGrange, Mo., and Nellie Palm of Toledo, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Eleanora Hudson of Wayland.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Hagerman and a brother, John Pence.
She had lived in Clark County all of her life.
Mrs. Davidson had been a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church in Wayland for 98 years. She was also a member of St. Martha's Altar and Rosary Society and the Royal Neighbors Lodge of Wayland.
She had worked at Swift and Company for 28 years.
Mrs. Davidson enjoyed traveling on the OATS bus.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Wayland, with Fathers Roland Carbone and David Cox officiating.
Burial will be in the Ashton cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to the St. Martha's Catholic Church.
Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka is in charge of arrangements.
Roy Lee Huffman
April 5, 1945 - Jan. 9, 2004
JACKSON, Mo. - Roy Lee Huffman, 58, of Jackson, Mo., formerly of Fort Madison, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at his home.
He was born April 5, 1945 at Fort Madison to Hazen and Lucille Derr Huffman.
He was a general superintendent for Fru-Con Construction.
On Aug. 24, 1972 he married
Cheryl Davis in Denmark. She survives.
Additional survivors include: his mother, Lucille Brinkschroeder of Fort Madison; a son, Dyrk Huffman of Charleston, W.V.; a daughter, Brandi Huffman, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Rex Huffman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ray Huffman of Pacific, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
Mr. Huffman served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam.
Visitation was Sunday at King-Lynk Funeral Home, Fort Madison.
Funeral services were today at the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ in Denmark, with the Rev. Daniel Moore officiating.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the VFW Color Guard Post 1805, the Marine Corps League and the American Legion Post No. 82.
Burial will be in Denmark cemetery in Denmark.
Memorials may be made to the church.
