KAHOKA, Mo. - Erma F. Spray, 85, of Kahoka, Mo., died Monday, April 6, 2009, in the Clark County Nursing Home, Kahoka.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1923, in Williamstown, Mo., the daughter of Henry Frank and Jettie Mae Webster Brookhart.
She married
Delbert E. Spray on Nov. 28, 1946, in Kirksville, Mo. He preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home, Kahoka, with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Live bluegrass music will be performed beginning at noon in the funeral home lobby.
Burial will be in the Ballard cemetery, southwest of Kahoka.
Visitation is after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Delbert and Erma Spray Musical Scholarship, which will be offered through the Clark County R-1 School District.
Vernon L. Schmid
July 25, 1928 - April 10, 2009
KAHOKA, Mo. - Vernon L. Schmid, 80, of rural Kahoka, Mo., died peacefully on Good Friday, April 10, 2009, in Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Ill., following a lengthy battle with cancer, lovingly surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 25, 1928, in Clark County, Mo., the son of Lewis and Katie Kirchner Schmid.
He married
Darlene Bash on June 14, 1952, at the Shrine of St. Patrick in St. Patrick, Mo. She survives.
A mass of Christian burial service was scheduled this morning at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Hartley officiating. Julie Kirchner was organist. Special selection was “Be Not Afraid.”
Burial was in the Kahoka cemetery.
Visitation was held after noon Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home, Kahoka, with the rosary beginning at 6 p.m. followed by family receiving friends until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Kahoka cemetery.

KAHOKA, Mo. - B.J. Wiss Jr., 82, of Kahoka, Mo., died Monday, April 13, 2009, in the Clark County Nursing Home, Kahoka.

BRIDGETON, Mo. - Suzanne Ritenour Larson, 85, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
She was born on Dec. 5, 1923, the beloved daughter of Albert and Lenna Borden (Ritenour) of the Shenandoah Valley, Va.
She was the wife of the late Ross Winfield Larson; mother of Ross Jr.; sister of the late Garland Borden and Jane DeVries (Borden); aunt, cousin and friend to many.
She spent a lifetime caring for others.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Collier's Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd., Bridgeton, Mo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Baptist Church, 12061 Natural Bridge Rd., Bridgeton.
Visitation locally is from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lamporte - St.Clair Funeral Home, Warsaw, Ill., followed by burial in Oakland cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, Bridgeton.
Walter W. Fishback
SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. - Walter W. Fishback, 80, of Sun City Center, Fla., died Dec. 17, 2008, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home, Kahoka.
Burial with military rites will be in the Kahoka cemetery.
Pastor Mike Shea will officiate the service.
Family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of the services.

UNIONVILLE, Mo. - Gilbert Sargent, Jr. 81, of Unionville, Mo., died Friday, May 15, 2009, in the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Mo.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1927, in Keokuk, the son of Gilbert and Ethelyn Mathes Sargent.
He married
Constance Herwick Buck on July 13, 1991. For the past five years he had enjoyed living in different places with her job as traveling nurse.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home, Kahoka, Mo., with Pastor Jim Brown officiating.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Playle-Jones Funeral Home, Unionville. Locally, visitation is after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from noon until the time of services.
Burial with military rites will be Oakland-Sand cemetery, Vincennes.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

ST. FRANCISVILLE, Mo. –– Larry David Dochterman, 62, of St. Francisville, Mo., died unexpectedly Sunday, July 5, 2009, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 10, 1947, in Keokuk, the son of James Willis and Grace Roberts Dochterman.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Newman on Sept. 17, 1971. She survives.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Sand cemetery, St. Francisville, with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating.
There will be no visitation. However, friends may register at Wilson Funeral Home, Kahoka, Mo., until 5 p.m. today.
Memorials are requested to the family.

Adalynn Grace Pitman
WAYLAND, Mo. - Adalynn Grace Pitman, the daughter of Adam and Ashley Shuman Pitman of Wayland, Mo., died at birth on Thursday, May 21, 2009, in Keokuk Area Hospital.
She is survived by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Tracey and Mark Shuman of Wayland; her paternal grandmother, Rosa Pitman of Keokuk; paternal great-grandmother, Betty L. Day of Basco, Ill.; maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Ruth Shuman of Keokuk; two uncles, Ryan Shuman and Mark Shuman and his wife, Tabetha, all of Wayland; an aunt, Stacey Pitman of Keokuk; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandfather, John R. Pitman; and her maternal great-grandparents, Mary Shuman and Rachel and John Happs Sr.
Graveside services were scheduled at 9 a.m. today in Babyland, Oakland cemetery, Keokuk, with Pastor Ray Gilbert officiating.
Family and friends were asked to meet at the cemetery.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Christian Church, Memphis, Mo.
Burial will be in the Memphis cemetery.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gerth Funeral Home, Memphis, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
