Helen Carneal, 84, Blairstown, died Sept. 15 in Clinton.
She was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Deerfield, the daughter of Arthur Earl and Almeda (Burris) Bowles.
Services were Sept. 17 with burial in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.
Douglas Lee Ford Sr.

Douglas Lee Ford Sr., 80, Largo, Fla., formerly of Adrian, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at his home in Florida.
He was born April 14, 1923, in Pleasant Hill, the son of Ernest Lee and Naomi Pearl (Gibson) Ford.
Mr. Ford attended school in Adrian.
He had lived in Adrian most of his life before moving to Florida in 1997.
On Sept. 14, 1947, he married Bonnie Ellen McCullough in Adrian.
Mr. Ford was an agent-telegrapher for the Missouri Pacific Railroad before retiring in 1985.
He served his country in the Army Infantry fighting in France, Germany and the Philippines during World War II.
He was a member of the Clearwater First Assembly of God Church in Largo.
Formerly he had been a member of the Assembly of God Church in Adrian.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, Victor, Wilford, Lloyd, Junior and Marvin Ford; a sister, Joy Kilpatrick; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Dyke.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Ellen Ford, of the home; five sons, the Rev. Mark Ford, Barrington, R.I., James Ford, Columbus, Ohio, the Rev. Douglas L. Ford Jr., Marion, Ohio, Ronald Ford, Kansas City, Kan., and Stephen Ford, Linn Creek; four daughters, Marcia Ribordy, Seminole, Fla., Martha Wood, Higginsville, Marquita Grant, Overland Park, Kan., and Bonnie Hyatt, Garden City; three brothers, Buddy Ford, Jack Ford and Terry Ford, all of Archie; two sisters, Betty Jo Martin, Archie, and Patty Crisp, Johnstown; 26 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Ford, Jack Ford, Terry Ford, Steve Lovelace, Mark Lovelace and Robert Lovelace.
Pallbearers were Ronald Ford, Stephen Ford, Bennie Ribordy, Ron Wood, Lynny Grant and Pat Hyatt.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 pm. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Victory Assembly of God in Adrian.
Services will be Sept. 27 at the church with the Rev. Mark Ford, the Rev. Douglas L. Ford Jr. and James Ford officiating.
The family will sing with Marsha Ribordy on the piano.
Burial will be in the Crescent Hill Cemetery near Adrian under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Grandson, First Lt. Dustin L. Grant, USAF, will present the flag.
Contributions may be made to the Clearwater First Assembly of God Church, United Family Outreach, Largo.

James Clifton “Cliff” Ganey, 60, Belton, died Sept. 17, 2003.
He was born June 20, 1943, the son of Bennie and Lillian (Themer) Ganey.

Memorial services were Sept. 20 with inurnment in the Austin Cemetery near Archie under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Richard Gilkeson
A Memorial services for Richard Gilkeson, 56, of Studio City, Calif., will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Garden City Cemetery.
Richard was the son of Howard and Harriett Gilkeson.
Howard, now deceased, was born at Garden City and graduated from Garden City High School.
Louie Elton Hargis

Louie Elton Hargis, 73, Harrisonville, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at Medicalodge of Butler.
He was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Clinton, the son of Walter Dewey and Zela Mae (Phillips) Hargis.
On Aug. 17, 1985, he married Naomi Ann Collins Eastman in Harrisonville.
Mr. Hargis had been employed as the projectionist for the Commonwealth Amusement Theater, Kansas City; by Scavuzzo’s Grocery Store and Young’s Firestone, both of Harrisonville.
He was a retired veteran of the Army Reserves after serving 35 years.
He attended Clinton High School and the Worship Center, Harrisonville.
He was a volunteer for the Harrisonville Civil Defense and had lived in Clinton before moving to Harrisonville in 1958.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Timothy Alan Hargis; and a brother, Walter Hargis Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Naomi A. Hargis, of the home; three sons, Jeff Hargis and wife, Deborah, Cleveland, David Hargis, Kansas City, and Eric Hargis and wife, Carla, Harrisonville; a daughter, Linda Keeth and husband, Cecil, Harrisonville; three stepsons, Martin Eastman and wife, Karol, Orlando, Fla., Craig Eastman and wife Mary Lynn, Richmond, Va., and Tim Eastman, Harrisonville; 12 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Danny Cope, Brandon Emond, Brian Miller, Jim Valle, Larry Zieler and Bob Oryall.
Pallbearers were Craig D. Eastman, Timothy Lynn Eastman, David Hargis, Eric Hargis, Nate Hargis and Sean Hargis.
Services were Sept. 24 at the Dickey Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Kaighen officiating.
Carla Hargis was the vocalist with Mary Lynn Eastman as the pianist.
Military services and burial were at the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the auspices of the Harrisonville Honor Guard.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home Harrisonville.

J. Carl Minzes, 79, Kansas City, formerly of Archie, died Sept. 19, 2003.
He was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Wilson, Okla., the son of John Carl and Katie May (Lee) Minzes.
Services were Sept. 22 at Charter Funeral Home with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home.
Walter Howard O’Kane

Walter Howard O’Kane, 78, Harrisonville, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at his home.
He was born Oct. 29, 1924, in Leavenworth, Kan., the son of Walter George and Helen (Murphy) O’Kane.
On March 8, 1950, he married Bonnie Lou Moody in Leavenworth.
Mr. O’Kane was a World War II Army veteran. He had lived in Grandview, before moving to Harrisonville.
He owned his own bathroom remodeling business in Kansas City and retired in 1993.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie, of the home; five sons, Ronald O’Kane and his wife, Joy, Raymore; Robert O’Kane, Grandview; Randy O’Kane and his wife, Kathleen, Grandview; Richard O’Kane and his wife, Brenda, Pleasant Hill; and Russell O’Kane, Harrisonville; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl O’Kane, Grandview; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and close friends of the family, Eddie VanZandt and Dan Nichols.
Pallbearers were Tim O’Kane, Adam O’Kane, Shawn O’Kane, Jason O’Kane, Conor O’Kane, Wesly Moody, Ronald O’Kane, Robert O’Kane, Randy O’Kane, Richard O’Kane, Russell O’Kane, Eddie VanZandt and Dan Nichols.
Services were Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Atkinson Chapel with Dr. Wendell Page officiating.
Burial was in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, with military honors under the auspices of the Harrisonville Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Odyssey Hospice.
Arrangement were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

She was born Dec. 16, 1937, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Dr. J.B. and Martha Helen (Clark) Jeans.
Services were Sept. 21 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, with inurnment in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Jack Edward Vaughn

Jack Edward Vaughn, 61, died Sept. 17, 2003.
He was born July 25, 1942, in Ft. Scott, Kan. He was an area resident for most of his life.
He was a member of the UAW Local #93 and the crew chief for his son’s racing team “Alan Vaughn Racing.”
Surviving are his wife, Judith, of the home; his mother, Minnie Vaughn, Warsaw; a son, Alan Vaughn, Belton; two daughters, Andrea Vaughn, Cleveland, and Mary Santillan and husband, Mike, Belton; a brother, Larry Vaughn, and wife, Barbara, Spavinaw, Okla.; a sister, Diane Sharpe and husband, Jerry, Warsaw; and three grandchildren, Michael, Miranda and Mikayla.
Services were Sept. 20 at the CrossRoads United Methodist Church in Belton.
Burial was in the Belton Cemetery under the direction of the E.K. George & Sons Funeral Home, Belton.
