Lois Louise Allen, 83, Oak Grove, died Jan. 26, 2004.
She was born March 1, 1920, in Competition, the daughter of Willie and Bertha Mae (Bigham) Dugan.
Graveside services were Jan. 29, at Hale Cemetery, Hale, under the direction of Wallace Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
Raymon Ballard

Raymon Ballard, 91, Holden, formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Holden Manor Care Center.
He was born March 16, 1912, south of Strasburg, the son of John E. and Ethel (Stock) Ballard.
Dec. 24, 1940, he married Hazel Ridenhour in Warrensburg.
Mr. Ballard had farmed south of Strasburg for many years.
He had worked for Bendix Corporation in Kansas City for 25 years and was a member of the Bendix Retirees Organization.
He was a member of the Lone Jack Baptist Church and had been a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Dec. 24, 1940, he married Hazel Ridenhour in Warrensburg.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Hazelwood, Nov. 27, 2002; and his sister, Jeanette Hawkins.
Surviving are a brother-in-law, Vernon Ridenhour, Holden; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Arnold, Holden, and Uma Ridenhour, Page, Ariz.; two nieces, Hat Braun, Holden, and Nancy Hammond, Washington, Utah; four nephews, Jan Ridenhour, Page, Duane Ridenhour, Huntsville, Ala., David Ridenhour and Dennis Ridenhour, both of Holden; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Grandville Hackett, J.W. Comer, Charley Tilden, Rick Randolph and Dennis Ridenhour.
Services were Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at the Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden, with the Rev. Roger Nelson officiating.
The men’s chorus of Bill Driskell, Al West, Tom Cornwell, Derek Cornwell, Jimmy Woodall, Chuck Campbell and Ron Murkin were the vocalists. Deanna Driskell was the organist.
Burial was in the Holden Cemetery, Holden, under the direction of the William Funeral Chapel.

Bruce Sittler Conrad

Bruce Sittler Conrad, 81, Peculiar, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at his home.
He was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Whitefish, Mont., the son of Earl Marshal and Estella Leota (Sittler) Conrad.
Mr. Conrad was a lifelong resident of Peculiar and graduated from Peculiar High School.
Feb. 19, 1948, he married Wanda Glyn Hughes in Paola, Kan.
He was a member of teamsters Local 41 since 1956. He worked for Yellow Freight, B&H; and Mid-American Freight Lines, retiring in 1982.
Mr. Conrad was a 50-year member and past master of the Grand River Masonic Lodge and was a charter member of the Peculiar Lion’s Club.
He was a member of the Cass County Sheriff’s Posse for 15 years and was also a former scoutmaster of Peculiar Troop #245 for eight years. Mr. Conrad sang with the Gospel Airs quartet for 32 years.
Surviving are his wife, Glyn, of the home; two sons, Bruce E. Conrad and his wife, Margaret, Peculiar, and Ed Houchen and his wife, Geraldine, Archie; a daughter, Christina Stewart, Peculiar; a sister, Betty Conrad, Peculiar; three grandchildren, Derek E. Conrad, Kristy Jo Lyon and Robin Bray, all of Peculiar; three stepgrandchildren, Dennis Golden, Peculiar, David Golden, Raymore, and Diane Alexander, Wadsworth, Ohio; and eight great-grandchildren, Lori, Scott, Davey, Brady, Coday, Paige, Bryson and Zachary.
Honorary pallbearers were Wilbur Briggs, Frank Britton, George Crosby, John Goddard, L.D. Paul, Wayne Reid, G.C. Shores, Larry Stewart and Ferd Good.
Pallbearers were Oren Bates, Eddie Bray, Dwight Diehl, Jr. Long, Ron Thomas and Ronnie Warner.
Masonic services were Jan. 31 under the direction of the Grand River Masonic Lodge #276.
Services were Feb. 1, 2004, at the First Baptist Church, Peculiar, with Pastor Tim Redding and Brother Bill Depugh, Belton. Larry Cantrell was the soloist and Shirley Divelbiss was the pianist.
Burial was in the Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Peculiar.

Shari Lynn Gillaspie-Davis, 40, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004.
She was born Dec. 29, 1963, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
Mrs. Davis was raised in Harrisonville and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1981. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
In October 1983, she married Bryan Davis. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are three children, Michael Brandyn Davis, Blue Springs, Miles Brayden Davis, Lake Lotawana, and Makiya Brianna Lile, Harrisonville; her parents, Gene H. Gillaspie, Sunrise Beach, and Jane Gillaspie, Lake Lotawana; two brothers, Gene H. Gillaspie Jr., Rich Hill, and Rick M. Gillaspie, Springfield; other relatives and friends.
Services were Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Chapel.
Burial was in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of the D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Funeral Home.

Services were Jan. 31 with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Wallace Funeral Home.

Cyenthia Louise King, 91, Harrisonville, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler.
She was born March 3, 1912, near Butler, the daughter of Alonzo Sherman and Laura Bell (Scherick) Short.
Oct. 1, 1928, she married Everett Louis King Sr. in Independence.
Mrs. King was a homemaker and was formerly employed as a manager for the Salvation Army Store, Seattle, Wash., from 1960 until 1973.
She was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, Independence. She had lived in Lamar before moving to Harrisonville in 1987.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Everett, Feb. 6, 1976; three sons, Leo, Harold and Bob King; a grandson, Ricky; seven brothers and a sister.
Surviving are a son, Everett L. King Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, and a daughter, Doris Leavitt, all of Harrisonville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.
Pallbearers were Travis Golladay, Jeff Goss, John Goss, Steve Goss, Kevin King and Justin Leavitt.
Services were Friday, Jan. 30, at the Dickey Funeral Home, with Pastor Ray Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
