Helen T. Doerflinger, 93, Appleton City, died June 25 at Appleton City Manor. She was born Feb. 13, 1911, the daughter of Peyton Reeves and Stella Blake (Raybourn) Davis.
Services were June 28 at the Atkinson Chapel with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Adrian.
James Franklin Emmett
Aug. 29, 1917 - July 4, 2004
James “Frank” Emmett, 86, Drexel, died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Miami, Okla., the son of George Ellis and Grace Ellen (Speers) Emmett.
Mr. Emmett served in the Army a short period and had worked as a logger driver, television repairman, farmer, The Family Center department manager, handyman, carpenter, police officer and musician.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, LaVirdue Clara Emmett; a daughter, Betty Lou Arms; his stepfather, Otis D. Tanner; two sisters, Hattie Emmett and Goldie Mae Payne; three brothers, Johnnie Isiah Tanner, Henry Alfred Tanner and Leroy Ellis Emmett; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Emmett, of the home; 12 children, Valerie Lee, Kidder, Loretta Tanner, Suzella Graham and Maxine Johnson, all of Garden City, Rhea Conlon, Urich, Elsie Goben, Drexel, Lois Cunningham, Harrisonville, Gracie Frisbey, Frank Ewing, Tenn, Patsy Urban, Cardin, Okla., and James L. Emmett, Commerce City, Colo., William “Bill” F. Emmett, Archie, and Robert Sutton, Osceola, Ind.; a son-in-law, Arzie Arms, Pitcher, Okla.; 40-plus grandchildren; 70-plus great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at the Drexel First Baptist Church, Drexel.
Graveside services were Friday at the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, Okla.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to James F. Emmett Memorial Fund, c/o Runyan Funeral Home.
Arrangements were under the Runyan Funeral Home, Drexel.
James C. Etter
March 27, 1932 - June 30, 2004
James “Jim” C. Etter, 72, Harrisonville, died Wednesday, June 30, at Cass Medical Center. He was born March 27, 1932, in Nevada, the son of Clovis Boone and Goldie Faye (Milligan) Etter.
Cremation. Arrangements were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Richard F. Baxter

Richard F. Baxter, 90, Richmond, Ind., formerly of Harrisonville, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond.
He was born Oct. 29, 1915, in Mount Gilead, Ohio, the son of Willard and Cuba Baxter.
Mr. Baxter was a retired electronic engineer at Amoco Oil. He was a member of Gospel Baptist Church in new Paris, Ohio, the Masonic Lodge 17 in Topeka, Kan., and the Scottish Rite in Kansas City.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, James F. Baxter; a brother; and a sister.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Eva (Miller) Baxter; two sisters, Louise Francisco and Lucille Valler; daughter-in-law, Gloria (Baxter) Brewer, Harrisonville; and nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Crown Hill Cemetery Chapel, Centerville, Ind., with burial in the Crown Hill Cemetery.

Connie Sue Marsee Beck

Connie Sue Marsee Beck, 45, Garden City, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, Kan.
She was born Sept. 2, 1960, in Kansas City, the daughter of Melvin Glenn and Beverly June (Clevenger) Miller.
She was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed at IRS for 23 years. She loved her Lord and had a very strong relationship with Him. Mrs. Beck loved her family and outdoor activities. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Beck, and daughter, Lauren Marsee, of the home in Garden City; a brother, Randy Miller and wife, Marsha, nephew, Chase, and niece, Rachael Miller, all of Freeman.
Honorary pallbearers were Kent Dickerson and Fenway Clagett.
Pallbearers were Larry Dickerson, Toby Miller, Lacy Miller, Clint Moles, Randy Colburn and Jeff Beck.
Services were Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Rick Jordan officiating.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Latour, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Odyssey Hospice.
Donald Edward Bogar

Donald E. Bogar, 70, Belton, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
He was born March 2, 1935, in Freeman, the son of Harold Edward and Mary Ruth (Thomas) Bogar.
Mr. Bogar graduated from Louisburg High School in 1953. He had lived in Belton since 1953.
He was an Army veteran and worked for Missouri Gas Energy for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
Surviving are his sons, Michael W. Bogar and his wife, Janie, Belton, and Steven L. Bogar and his wife, Brenda, Lamar; a sister, Bernita Bogar, Medina, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ted Thomas, Bill Thomas, Jim Blum, Dale Lacy, Larry Pruitt and David Brown.
Services were Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Joe Crook, Archie, officiating. Music was provided by Lyle Reynoso.
Burial was in the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service.
Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, under the direction of the McGilley & George Funeral Home, Belton.
Dianna Sue Cox

Dianna Sue (Pipes) Cox, 60, Lincoln, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia.
She was born Nov. 13, 1945, in Milan, the daughter of Donald W. and Gladys Frances (Wyant) Pipes.
In 1961, she married Roger N. Nickell, and they had two children, Genia and Robert.
In 1977, she married Bill D. Cox. Together they operated the Red Barn Nursery in Belton and are the current owners/operations of Lincoln Antique Mall in Lincoln.
Preceding her in death were her father, Donald W. Pipes; and nephew, Rusty Pipes.
Surviving are her mother, Frances Pipes, Milan; her husband, Bill D. Cox, of the home; daughter, Genia (Nickell) Boyle, Harrisonville; son, Robert Nickell, and wife, Marilyn, Drexel; stepdaughters, Stacy Kendrick and husband, Jr., Harrisonville, and Jessica Fair, Camdenton; four brothers and their wives, Marvin and Anita Pipes, David and Patti Pipes and Steve and Penny Pipes, all of Milan, and Donald and Beverly Pipes, Perry, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Ryan Cook, Ashley Cook, Eric Boyle, Taylor Nickell, Ethan Nickell, Whitney Kendrick, Brianna Kendrick, Sebastian Mullins and Harley Fair; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation.
Services were Sunday, Dec. 4, at Ruschmeier Funeral Home, Milan.
There will be a private inurnment at a later date.
