Carolyn "Jean" (Wiseman) Wigal
Carolyn "Jean" Wiseman Wigal, 64, Bethany, Mo., and formerly of Leon, Iowa, died January 30, 2002, at a Liberty, Mo. Hospital.
She was born on July 7, 1937, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Rose (Harmon) Wiseman. She was a homemaker.
Her parents, a brother Earl "Bud" Wiseman and a daughter Laura Johnston preceded her in death.
She leaves five daughters, Lauraine Kuster and husband Larry, Davis City, Iowa, Loretta Walters and husband Kevin of Webster City, Iowa, Laurette Wigal, Bethany, Mo., Levida O'Neal and husband Brian of Bethany, and Lucille Wigal, Bethany; son-in-law Randall Johnston, Des Moines, Iowa; three brothers, grandchildren Larry Kuster III, Vicky, Shannon, Amy and Scott Kuster, Davis City; Kelvin and Larisa Walters, Webster City; Brianna, Caitlynn and Abigail O'Neal of Bethany; Jessica Wigal, Wyatt Wigal, Bethany; Josie West, Des Moines, Lynette Remster, Waukee, Iowa, and Gary Johnston of Louisville, Ky.; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at the Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
Memorial gifts may be made to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 46, Bethany, Mo. 64424.
Merle A. Fry
Merle A. Fry, 90, Maryville, Mo., and formerly of New Hampton, Mo., died February 1, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Fry was born in Harrison County on March 31, 1911, the daughter of Mark and Blanche (Zerbe) Ballard. She married Eldon H. Fry in 1928, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1992. She was a homemaker and also worked for the New Hampton Drug Store for several years. She and her husband also ran a filling station in New Hampton. She was a member of P.E.O, the saddle club, and the New Hampton Christian Church.
In addition to her husband, her parents preceded her in death.
She leaves a son, Carrol Lee Fry, Maryville, Mo.; a daughter Sandra Fry, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister Betty Irvin, Bethany, and two grandchildren, Carey and Erinn Fry.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at the Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday morning.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Salvation Army in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 46, Bethany, Mo. 64424.
C. Paul Wright
C. Paul Wright, 92, Mt. Moriah, Mo., died February 2, 2002, at Harrison County Community Hospital.
Mr. Wright was born May 5, 1909, in Mt. Moriah, the son of Theodore and Edith (Emery) Wright. He married Nellie Linville on March 5, 1931, and she survives of the home. Mr. Wright was part owner of the Mt. Moriah Elevator, and had worked as a cattle buyer for the Lamoni Livestock Auction for the last 35 years. He was a 1927 graduate of Mt. Moriah High School.
His parents, a son Billie Raymond and a brother Reed Wright preceded him in death.
In addition to his wife, he leaves son Jim Wright and wife Patricia Ann of Bethany; two grandchildren, Dwane Wright, Mt. Moriah, and Diane Shields, Kansas City, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Rick Lee and Erika Jo Shields, Kansas City, Mo.
Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial will be in the Lloyd Cemetery, Mt. Moriah. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Ada M. Klumb
Ada M. Klumb, 89, St. Joseph, Mo., died June 4, 2002, at a St. Joseph health care facility.
Mrs. Klumb was born in Bethany, Mo., on June 4, 1913, the daughter of Wallace and Ida (Williams) Butler. She graduated from Martinsville High School and married Milton Klumb on Aug. 1, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1970. She worked in real estate and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the National Women's Engineering Society.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Verna Tietz and a great nephew.
She leaves two nephews, Robert and Gary Tietz, both of St. Joseph; three great-nieces and one great nephew.
Services will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated under the direction of the Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service, St. Joseph.
James G. Skeens
James G. Skeens, 88, Bethany, formerly of Farmington, Iowa, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at a Bethany Health care center.
Mr. Skeens was born Aug. 19, 1913, in Greenup County, Ky. He was the son of Lewis and Verna (Musick) Skeens.
On June 6, 1942, he married Ruth Simmons in Kahoka, Mo. She survives at the home.
He was an air conditioning and heating specialist for the Iowa Ordinance Plant and a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and a sister.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Robert James Skeens, Bethany, and Sherman Lee Skeens, a missionary in Argentina; a sister, Addie Collins, Troy, Ohio; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the First Baptist Church, Farmington, Iowa. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery, Bonaparte, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, where friends may call anytime after 1 p.m. Saturday. The family will also receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church, Farmington, Iowa.
Mary E. Hon
Mary E. Hon, 70, Bethany, Mo., and formerly of Blythedale, Mo., died July 30, 2002, at Harrison County Community Hospital.
Ms. Hon was born in Decatur County, Iowa, on Sept. 21, 1931, the daughter of Earl Clarence and Clara Lavona (Cross) Offield. She worked for Lambert Manufacturing in Bethany and as a waitress at the Old North Station in Eagleville. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2534 and Bethany Women's Bowling League.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mavis, Carol Croft, and Nadine Hon; one brother, Leo Offield, and two infant siblings.
She leaves two sons, Richard Carnegy, Gilman City, Mo., and Hal Carnegy, Ridgeway, Mo.; four sisters, Bonnie Craig, Jesse Cook, and Laynett Rutherford, all of Blythedale, and Earlene Price of Joliet, Ill.; four brothers, Robert and Ronald Offield, both of Blythedale, Richard Offield, Coa Coa Beach, Fla., and Harold Glenn Offield, Little Rock, Ark; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Blythedale, under the direction of the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. There will be no family visitation.
Susan B. Gibson
Susan B. Gibson, 53, Marshall, Mo., died October 5, 2002, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Miss Gibson was born in Bethany, Mo., on Nov. 3, 1948, the daughter of William G. Barron and Mary E. Barron. She has been a resident of Marshall since 1978 where she worked as a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of the Gill Memorial Baptist Church.
An infant son, Matthew Breshears, and her father preceded her in death.
She leaves a daughter Jenny E. Hare, Marshall; son Travis B. Breshears, Marshall; brother Stephen E. Barron, Apache City, Ariz., and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Sweeney Reser Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Bethany.
The family suggests memorials to the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in care of the funeral home, 467 South Odell, Marshall, Mo. 65340.
