Opal Carolyn Couch, 82, Cleveland, died Oct. 17, 2006, at her home.
She was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Peavine, Okla.
Mrs. Couch was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always welcomed everyone in her home.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Curtis Couch, who she met in Berryville, Ark.
Surviving are a daughter, Jo Rita Hicks, and her husband, Billy Jo, Kansas City; three granddaughters, Yvette Burroughs, and her son, Daniel Head, Cleveland, Sheryl Westby, and husband, Jeff, Peculiar, and Kimberly Turner, and husband, Jeff, and their two sons, Ryan and Corey, Harrisonville; and a sister, Eva Lea Whitmire, and daughters, in Westville, Okla.
Services were held in Westville, Okla.
James Fredrik “Jim” Curd

James Fredrik “Jim” Curd, 60, died suddenly at his home Oct. 16, 2006, in Benton County.
He was born Jan. 23, 1946, in Springfield, the son of James Harvey and Else J. (Wissing) Curd.
Mr. Curd moved to Harrisonville in March 1946 and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1964. He attended Central Calif. He moved to Benton County in 1994.
He was a longtime member of the Benton County Stream Team, dedicated to the conservation of Missouri Department of Conservation.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Harvey L. Dunn
May 26, 1923 - Oct. 16, 2006
Harvey L. Dunn, 83, Harrisonville, died October 16, 2006, at the home of his son, Michael, in Port Allen, La.
He was born May 26, 1923, in Harrisonville the son of William C. and Mary D. Dunn.
Mr. Dunn was a fireman and will be remembered by many for his years of dedicated service to the Harrisonville Legionnaire Volunteer Fire Department, the Cass County Firefighters Association, the West Central Fire Fighters Association, the International Association of Arson Investigators and the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri State Fair Volunteer Fire Department. He was a lifelong advocate for more and better firefighter safety and training.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, Jeannie (Dunn) Dove.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Dunn and his wife, Annemie, Overland Park, Kan., and his grandsons Matthew and Nicholas; two sisters Irma Robertson and Rose Glanz of the Washington, D.C., area, and Hugh C. Dunn, Macon; and his former wife and long-time friend, Kathleen “Kati” Dunn, Kansas City.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at the Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville.
A memorial service to celebrate Harvey’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home.

Tish Herrell

Tish Herrell, 50, Drexel, died Oct. 19, 2006, at her home.
She was born Aug. 14, 1956, in Santa Paula, Missouri State University, Warrensburg.
Mrs. Herrell worked for the Drexel R-4 School District in Drexel as a teacher until February 2006. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Drexel. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, day and weekend trips with her husband and family, attending auctions where she would frequently find old quilts and she especially enjoyed being a grandmother and teacher.
Mrs. Herrell also received great enjoyment from music, performing with several singing groups and becoming involved with her church choir.
Preceding her in death was father on June 16, 2002.
Surviving are her husband Butch A. Herrell Jr. of the home; two daughters Emily M. Herrell Drexel and Katherine Herrell, Ft. Scott, Kan.; a son, Nicholas J. Herrell, Harrisonville; three brothers, Chris Buck, Florida, and Nick Buck, Nevada; and two beloved grandchildren, Abby and Calin.
Casket bearers were Mike Herrell, John M. Herrell, Jason Street, Nicholas Herrell, Russell Adams and Randy Moore.
Services were Oct. 21 at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Marilyn Neimeyer and Geoff Buck officiating.
Burial was in the Sharon Cemetery, Drexel, under the direction of the Wilson and Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Herrell’s name to the United Methodist Church, 304 E. Walnut, Drexel, MO 64742.
M.L. “Shorty” Moyer

M.L. “Shorty” Moyer, 80, Peculiar, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
He was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Clyde Leon and Mary Lela (Barton) Moyer.
Mr. Moyer moved to Pittsburg, Kan., where he married Betty Sue Brown.
Mr. Moyer was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II from 1944 to 1946 in Europe. He was a Cub Scout leader, a race car driver and a manager of SSJBA baseball for 10 years. He was a longtime charter member of VFW Post 8100, Grandview.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Sue Negus, and her husband, Tony, Cummings, Ga., and Linda Martin and her husband, Aaron, Wilmington, N.C.; a son, Danny “Doc” Moyer, Kansas City; two brothers, Bill Dean Moyer, Norman, Okla., and Texas; a sister, Mary Jo Elsasser, Kansas City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two on the way.
Services were Oct. 26 at Park lawn Funeral Home with burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Dulcie Viola Rice

Dulcie Viola Rice, 80, Butler, died Oct. 22, 2006. She was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Sheldon, the daughter of Clarence A. and Mattie Mae (Stone) Gordon.
Services were Oct. 25 at the Atkinson Chapel, Adrian, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Adrian.
Thomas R. Schubert

Thomas Reece Schubert, 63, Harrisonville, died Oct. 17, 2006, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Kansas City.
He was born April 27, 1943, in High Point, N.C., the son of Hubert Eli and Pauline Ann (Branham) Schubert.
On April 23, 2005, he married Carolyn Edna Fairchild in Harrisonville.
Mr. Schubert was employed as an auto body repairman for Keystone Chrysler, Shawnee, Kan., until his retirement on Dec. 31, 2003.
He was a Navy veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union, Kansas City.
He enjoyed the outdoors, mowing the yard, flowers and driving his tractor. He had lived in Smith and wife, Dorothy, Peculiar; three stepdaughters, Alisa Hammack and husband, Matt, Peculiar, Michelle Schultz and husband, Will, Wheatland, Deborah Weiss, Harrisonville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Hyatt, Crossville, Tenn., and Verna Porter, Newborn; and other relatives and many friends.
Honorary casket bearers were Jr. Grosshart and Paul Lakin.
Casket bearers were Dave Easton, Chris Garen, Roger Gatschet, Lewis McDonald, Dick Nelson and Cary Smith.
Services were Oct, 20 at the Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville, with the Rev Edwin officiating.
Military services were provided by the Harrisonville Honor Guard. Burial was in the Wills Cemetery near Peculiar under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
