Graveside services were Sept. 15 at the Double Branch Cemetery, Butler, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Ruth Anna Jacobs, 89, Creighton, died Sept. 13, 2007. She was born Aug. 17, 1918, near Urich, the daughter of James R. and Grace (Gray) Ewing.
Services were Sept. 17 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, with burial was in the Mullin Cemetery near Urich, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.
Hobert R. Milican Sr.
June 13, 1919 - Sept. 14, 2007
Hobert R. Milican, Sr., 88, Pleasant Hill, died Sept. 14, 2007, at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore.
He was born on Friday, June 13, 1919, in Pleasant Hill, the son of Hobert Garrett and Edna Pearl (Small) Milican.
On Oct. 20, 1946, he married Ila Bethene Morris in Escondido, Calif., until his retirement.
He was a life member of VFW Post 3118, Pleasant Hill, a past master and active member of Jewel Lodge 480, Pleasant Hill, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Escondido.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ila Milican on April 2, 1980; his stepfather, Lonie James; two brothers, Johnnie and Ronald Dale James; and a sister, Verna Milican.
Surviving are two sons, Hobert Ray Milican Jr. and his wife, Susie, of El Cahon, Missouri; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Services were Sept. 17 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Burns officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, under the direction of the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
Military graveside services were under the auspices of the VFW Post 3118.
Masonic services were at 6 p.m. provided by Jewel Lodge 480.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Good Shepherd Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Wilma Louise Silver, 90, Adrian, died Sept. 15, 2007. She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Burdette, Bates County, the daughter of Elmer Lee and Maude (Roach) Lacy.
Services were Sept. 18 at the First Baptist Church, Adrian, with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Adrian.
John Lewis Stacy

John Lewis “J. L.” Stacy, 78, Peculiar, died Sept. 11, 2007, at his home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1928, in Callao, the son of Charles Lucas and Viola Mary (Hepworth) Stacy.
He was a 1947 graduate of Callao High School.
May 1, 1954, he married Ruby Anna Grable in Macon.
Mr. Stacy was a Korean War Army veteran.
He had lived in Callao before moving to Peculiar in 1955. He worked for AlliedSignal-Bendix for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He was a former police chief in Peculiar during the 1960s, had served as fire chief and was a charter member of the fire department in Peculiar.
Mr. Stacy was a member of the Peculiar VFW until its closing. He was a member of Callao Christian Church and was baptized Sept. 1, 2006, in Long Branch Lake.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Leota Crutchfield; and a half sister, Audry Springer.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Anna Stacy, of the home; two sons, John “J.D.” Stacy and his wife, Catherine, Des Plains, Ill., and Charles Stacy and his wife, Loretta, Harrisonville; a brother, Larry D. Stacy and his wife, Jane Ann, Bevier; a sister, Maxine Moss, Macon; four grandchildren, Brian Stacy, Melissa Treola, Justin Stacy and his wife, Azlynn, and Michelle Stacy and her fiance, Brant Johnson; and four great-grandchildren, Caden Stacy, Jeffrey Treolo, Nathaniel Ashley and Jocelynn Treolo.
Honorary casket bearers were Tony Thomas, Russ Brown, PFC Eric Thompson, Larry Dean Stacy, Harold Mason, Rick Gann, Jason Baker and Oren Bates.
Casket bearers were Justin Stacy, Brant Johnson, Jeff Stacy, Jeffrey Treolo, Jason Ashley, Ron Melter and Brian Stacy.
Services were Sept. 14 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with Pastor Henry “Dutch” Vennenman, Schoolfield Baptist Church, Memphis, Tenn., officiating.
Military honors were under the auspices of the Harrisonville Honor Guard.
Burial was in the Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Contributions may be made to The Shriner Hospital for Children.
Lloyd Joseph Ring

Lloyd Joseph Ring, 90, Harrisonville, died Sept. 11, 2007, at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville.
He was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Baird, Neb., the son of Adolph Joseph and Hattie Ethel (Kersey) Ring.
In 1934, he married Claudine Clark and later, May 14, 1946, he married Doris Mae Brown in Walla Walla, Wash.
Mr. Ring owned and operated G&J; Drywall in Cody, Wy., until his retirement in 1980. He attended Crossroads Assembly of God Church, Harrisonville. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing and hunting. Mr. Ring had lived in Idaho and Cody before moving to Harrisonville in 2001.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Ellary and George; two sisters, Letha and Marie; and his first wife, Claudine.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Ring, of the home; three sons, Lavon Ring and wife, Sandra, Casa Grande, Ariz., Gerald L. Ring and wife, Carla, and Michael J. Ring and wife, Sherry, all of Garden City; a daughter, Helen Frost and husband, Lyle, Nampa, Idaho; a brother, Clifford Ring, Emmett, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Honorary casket bearers were Jerry Gullion, Roy Miller and Shane Ring.
Casket bearers were Cecil Collins, Lonnie Curtis, Tom Lee, Kipton Miller, James Lloyd Ring and Michael Ring Jr.
Graveside services and burial were Sept. 18 at the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, with the Rev. Darren Widner officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.
Robert William Cassody

Robert William Cassody, 87, Harrisonville, died Jan. 3, 2008, at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.
He was born Jan. 22, 1920, in East Lynne, the son of Frank L. and Mary Ella (Smith) Cassody.
Mr. Cassody spent his childhood and teen years growing up in the home of his aunt and uncle, Joe and Lulu Belle Kelly. He attended Mount Zion and Union Hall School through the eighth grade and went Harrisonville High School.
Mr. Cassody worked as a driver for the Finley-Shotwell (later known as Finley-Crown) Bus Service.
June 25,1941, he married Dorothy Carol Lacy of Freeman. He lived in Cass County, except while in military service training at Winfield, Kan.
Mr. Cassody served in the United States Army, 24th Bombardment Squadron as a parachute rigger and repairman during World War II.
Following his discharge, he worked for Crown Bus Service. In the mid-1960s, he had Bob Cassody’s Excavation business until 1985, at which time he scaled down his business to providing dirtwork for local funeral homes. He retired in 1995.
Nov. 19, 1979, he married Nina Moorehead.
He was a member of the Ararat Shrine in the 1960s through the early 1970s and was active in Cass County Shrine Club. He was a member of the Cass County Wildcats, the Shrine Club Motorcycle Unit and was a former member of the Cass Masonic Lodge147.
He attend the First Christian Church of Harrisonville.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 37 years, Carol, Sept. 26, 1978; his wife, Nina, Sept. 4, 2004; twin sisters, Retta May Ferguson and Emma Faye Laws.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Frannie and Ed Winter, Garden City, Ann and Russ Day, Cumming, Ga., Shirley and Harold Kershner, Butler, and Robin and Larry Smith, Lenexa, Kan.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, close friend, Rosann Richter; and other family and friends.
Casket bearers were Scott Day, Chris Day, John Winter, Bryan Winter, Aaron Kershner, John M. Winter, Jim Bradley and Joseph Shaffer.
Services were Jan. 5 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Adam Harmon officiating.
Burial was in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
