Warren “Sonny” R. Redmon, 71, died Dec. 16, 2007.
He was born Oct. 31, 1936.
He was raised in the east bottoms of Kansas City with 10 brothers and sisters.
He married Alida Joyce DeConinck.
Later he married Judith A. Campbell.
Mr. Redmon was a dedicated father and a hard worker.
He raised 10 children that gifted him with 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101.
In September 2007, he received his 30-year pin.
Mr. Redmon had a zest for life.
When asked how he was, his standard reply was "fantastic".
He was fortunate to have Shirley J. Smith constantly by his side. Together, they spent nine wonderful years traveling, enjoying cruises and scuba diving.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers; a sister; two wives; and two stepdaughters.
Surviving are Shirley Smith, Celinda Kleinbeck, Julie Abernathy, Richard Redmon, John Redmon, Daniel Redmon, Edward Redmon, Patricia Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, under the direction of the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
Chelsea Raine Walker

Chelsea Raine Walker, 17, Bolivar, formerly of Belton, died Jan. 5, 2008, at Children’s Mercy Hospital.
She was born July 25, 1990, in Bolivar.
Surviving are her parents; John and Cheryl Bastion and Greg and Myrna Walker; brothers, Aaron Alquist and Dustin Walker; a sister, Autumn Walker; her maternal grandparents Gerald and Marlene Wilson, Jim and Sue Wilson and Chet and Beverly Bastion; her paternal grandparents, Casey and Barbara Walker, Martha Hite; and her maternal great-grandparents, Harold and Wilma Davis.
Memorials may be made to Chelsea Walker Nursing Scholarship fund or Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City.
Services were Jan. 8 at the First Baptist Church of Grandview, under the direction of the Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore.
Jeffrey M. Whalen

Jeffrey Michael Whalen, 28, Harrisonville, died Jan. 6, 2008.
Services were Jan. 11 at the Harrisonville First Baptist Church with burial in the Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville.
Surviving are his mother, Karen Whalen; two children, Joseph and Ashley; a brother, Michael and wife, Della.
Mary K. Starkman
Mary K. Starkman, 87, Harrisonville, died Jan. 8, 2008, at her home.
Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
William Earl Spangler

William Earl Spangler, 81, Harrisonville, died Jan. 1, 2008, at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1926, in Gypsy, Okla., the son of William Henry and Cornelia (Wood) Spangler.
Feb. 5, 1975, he married Betty Sue Moore in Harrisonville.
Mr. Spangler was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a pilot and had retired from the railroad.
He had also been a cab driver and operated a vending route.
He owned and operated the Dinner Bell Restaurant for 35 years in Harrisonville, before retiring in 1988.
He then operated “Road Kill BBQ,” a mobile barbecue catering service.
Mr. Spangler drove for R.Z. Motors, delivering automobiles.
His favorite thing to do was gardening and he loved big sunflowers.
He was an avid debater and loved to debate politics and religion.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He had a generous heart and a sense of humor.
He was a very honorable man who was dearly loved and respected. His word was his bond.
No words can describe what a wonderful man he was and how much he was loved and will be missed.
He will always live in our hearts. Pearl of Great Price.
Memorial services were Jan. 3, 2008, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with Mike Spangler, Henderson, Nev., officiating.
Cremation.
Inurnment will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
Sue Stutzman
Sue Stutzman, 56, Garden City, died Jan. 5, 2008, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville.
Funeral services were Jan. 10 at the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church near Garden City, with burial in the Clearfork Cemetery near Garden City under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfork Cemetery Association.
Mapel R. Sutton

Mapel R. Sutton, 98, Harrisonville, died Dec. 31, 2007, at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.
She was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Brunot, the daughter of Charles Jackson and Cora (Jones) Russell.
In October 1928, she married Paul C. Sutton in Annapolis.
Mrs. Sutton attended elementary school in Brunot and graduated from the same high school in Missouri in Jefferson City until her retirement.
She was a member of Holt’s Summit Baptist Church, Holt’s Summit.
Mrs. Sutton enjoyed her family, gardening, flowers and quilting.
She had lived in Ellington before moving to Jefferson City in 1960 and then to Harrisonville.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Paul, in 1995; her son, Dr. Russell Sutton; four brothers, Walter, Ralph, Frank and Jones Russell; a sister, Esther; two sons-in-law, Gene Reed and Leon Chilton.
Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Charles C. Sutton and wife, Dorritt, Harrisonville, and Dr. Dale Sutton and wife, Rose Marie, Scottville, Mich.; three daughters, Fay Chilton, Camdenton, Jean Reed, St. Louis, Ellen Lumley, Moscow Mill; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Sutton, Galsburg, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services and burial were Jan. 5 at Sutton Cemetery, Vulcan, with the Rev. Charles C. Sutton, officiating.
