Richard D. Claiborne, 48, Belle Plaine, Kan., died Friday, June 8, at HCA Wesley Memorial Hospital, Wichita, Kan., from injuries sustained in a train accident.
Services were Thursday, June 14, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.
Dolores May Clark

Dolores May Clark, 70, Pleasant Hill, died Thursday, June 7, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
She was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Lillard "Ras" and Ora May (Wood) Wilmoth.
June 4, 1949, she married Milton L. Clark in Pleasant Hill.
Mrs. Clark attended Pleasant Hill High School and lived in Pleasant Hill most of her lifetime.
She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness of Pleasant Hill.
Surviving are her husband, Milton L. Clark, of the home; three sons, Graylan Clark and Robin Clark, both of Pleasant Hill, and Kyle Clark, Lee's Summit; a daughter, Helen R. Rhodes, Pleasant Hill; two brothers, Lillard Wilmoth, Pleasant Hill, and Huntley Wilmoth, Overland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Marilyn Sparks, Leeton, and Bonnie Sommers, Lee’s Summit; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Cremation.
A Memorial services was held Monday, June 11, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wallace Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
John Wesley Clark Jr.
Aug. 25, 1922 - June 9, 2001
John Wesley Clark Jr., 78, Harrisonville, died Saturday, June 9, at Research Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Mountain Home, Ark., the son of John Wesley and Ona May (Hand) Clark.
Jan. 14, 1944, he married Amy Lorene Chaney in Mountain Home.
Mr. Clark spent the first part of his life in Gainesville and lived on a farm south of Pleasant Hill for 12 years prior to moving to Harrisonville two years ago.
He was employed by Bendix Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 1984.
Mr. Clark was a Mason and Shriner. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ona May Clark April 9, 1975.
Surviving are his companion of 20 years, Mildred Dietz, of the home; a son, Billy Ray Clark, Pleasant Hill; a daughter, Peggy Jo Malloy, Gainesville, Fla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Honorary casketbearers were H.A. Todd and George Terril.
Casketbearers were Brian Bishop, Mike Bishop, Joseph Claypool, Christian Talley, Lee Barrett and Phillip Barrett.
Services were Tuesday, June 12, at the Stanley & Son Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, with the Rev. D. Kent Deubner officiating.
Burial was in Mount Moriah Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley & Son Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
Ray Edward Doty

Ray Edward Doty, 68, Cleveland, died Sunday, June 10, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
He was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Pattonsburg, the son of Rollie and Viola (Hazelbaker) Doty.
Mr. Doty lived in Cass County most of his life.
Dec. 30, 1967, he married Delitha Walker in Pattonsburg.
He was a retired United States Air Force crew chief and jet engine technician with the 442nd Civil Service Unit.
Mr. Doty was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Pattonsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Doty; and a sister, Wanda Sweat.
Surviving are his wife, Delitha Doty, of the home; a son, Wayne Angus, Springfield; four daughters, Rebecca Millstead, Holden, Denise Angus, Cleveland, Debra Angus, Lee's Summit, and Wanda Kiely, Katy, Texas; three brothers, Loye F. Doty, Texas, and Chet Doty, Weatherby; three sisters, Lavon Teal, Gallatin, Margery Stacey, Valentine, Neb., and Marilyn Talbert, Pattonsburg; and four grandchildren.
Casketbearers were Danny Talbert, Dean Carter, Clark Kirkman, J.B. McDaniel and Mike McDaniel.
Services were Wednesday, June 13, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Jim Blue of the St. Peters United Methodist Church, Blue Springs.
Burial was in the West Union Cemetery, Cleveland, under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Military services were under the auspices of the Military Honor Guard, Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster.

Opal F. Hall

Opal F. Hall, 93, Pleasant Hill, died Friday, June 8, in Garden City.
She was born Nov. 2, 1907, in Lone Jack, the daughter of George P. and Anna Lee (Perdue) Kennedy.
In 1930, she married Hirum "Tip" Garner.
Oct. 31, 1959, she married Clarence, former mayor of Pleasant Hill, in Miami, Okla.
Mrs. Hall live most of her lifetime in the Pleasant Hill area.
During World War II, she served her country by becoming a WAC in the U.S. Army.
She owned Garner's Drive-In for many years and had been a bookkeeper for Universal Underwriters Life Insurance Co. for many years, retiring in 1973.
Mrs. Hall was a member of the First Christian Church of Pleasant Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Hirum "Tip" Garner, in 1958.
Surviving are her husband, Col. Clarence Hall, and a sister, Marie Hamilton, both of Pleasant Hill.
Casketbearers were John Truninger, Bill Truninger, Lawrence Green, Ernie Wilson, Dan Byrd and Ray Alexander.
Services were Wednesday, June 13, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, with the Rev. D. Kent Deubner officiating.
George E. Hoffman Jr.
May 15, 1950 - May 30, 2001
SMSgt. George E. Hoffman Jr., 51, Marietta, Ga., died Wednesday, May 30, at his home.
He was born May 15, 1950, in Reading, Pa., the son of George Edward and Frances Evangeline.
Mr. Hoffman graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1968.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 29 years during which he received numerous medals and citations for meritorious service and achievement.
Mr. Hoffman was preceded in death by all grandparents and his father.
Surviving are his mother, Frances Evangeline, Grandview; his stepmother, Pauline, Talladega, Ala.; brother, John K. Hoffman, Raymore; and a sister Francina S. Hoffman, Independence.
A memorial to celebrate his life was held Sunday, June 10, at Cass Medical Center Gazebo, Harrisonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass Medical Foundation for cardiac rehabilitation.
Melvin Lee Doyle

Melvin Lee Doyle, 72, Freeman, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 11, 1929, in Wyaconda, the son of Roy L. and Elma (Smart) Doyle.
On May 15, 1948, he married Doris Fern Storm in Bosworth at the Methodist Church.
Mr. Doyle had lived in Freeman for 50 years.
He had worked for Amoco Pipeline for 41 years, retiring April 1, 1988.
He was a member of the Freeman Baptist Church and was a 50-year member of the Hale City Masonic Lodge No. 216, receiving his 50-year pin in February 2001.
Mr. Doyle served as mayor and chief of police of Freeman from 1958 until 1978.
He was an auxiliary deputy for the Cass County Sheriff's Office from 1958 until 1984.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Helen Huffman.
Surviving are a son, Darren Lee Doyle, Freeman; a daughter, Susan Renee Honeycutt, Harrisonville; and four grandchildren.
Honorary casketbearers were John Henderson and Danny Storm.
Casketbearers were Dale Huffman, Daryl Huffman, Darren Doyle, Vernon James, Elwyn Myers and Joe Eastin.
Services were Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Henry Green, Freeman, officiating.
Karla Jones was the vocalist and Janet Allbaugh was the pianist.
Burial was in the Freeman Cemetery under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
