Charlotte Jane McMillen, 94, Harrisonville, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at her son’s home in Creighton.
Visitation was from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville.
Services are at 10 a.m. today, Dec. 7, at the Atkinson Chapel.
Burial will be in Woodfin Cemetery, Foster, under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
George E. McVay
George E. McVay, 81, Archie, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Adrian Manor Nursing Home, Adrian.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today, Dec. 7, 2001, at the First Baptist Church, Archie.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Harrisonville.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Archie.
Rena Maxine Mills
May 14, 1910 - Nov. 28, 2001
Rena Maxine Mills, 91, Drexel, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville.
She was born May 14, 1910, in Drexel, the daughter of John and Lucy (Anderson) Karr.
Mrs. Mills lived most of her life in the Drexel area.
On Sept. 18, 1940, she married John Mills.
She had been employed in the drugstore, grocery store and light company businesses, and was a school bus driver, all in the Drexel area.
Mrs. Mills had been a member of the Drexel Christian Church since 1930 and had been a member of the Royal Neighbors.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Claude Karr, Ross Karr (her twin) and Jo Karr; and a sister, Inez Fenton.
Surviving are her husband, John Mills, of the home; and a sister, Lois Stevens, Leawood, Kan.
Honorary pallbearers were Clifford Bishop and James Hocker.
Pallbearers were Steve Long, Danny Long, Larry Roederer, John Stevens, Dale Lacy and Bill Shaw.
Services were Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at the First Christian Church, Drexel, with the Rev. Troy Hoffman officiating.
Burial was in the Glenwild Cemetery under the direction of the Runyan Funeral Home, Drexel.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church, Drexel.
Marilyn Steinhilber
Marilyn Steinhilber, 78, Harrisonville, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Camden Health Care, Harrisonville.
Surviving are two sons, John G. Steinhilber III, Kansas City, and Steve Steinhilber, Leawood, Kan.; and four grandchildren.
Services were Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lee’s Summit.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, under the direction of the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit.
Lewis Wayne Swarens

Lewis Wayne Swarens, 67, Gravois Mills, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in Raytown.
He was born Sept. 9, 1934, in Rich Hill, the son of George Lewis and Nell Evelyn (Garrison) Swarens.
Mr. Swarens grew up in Rich Hill and was a 1952 graduate of Rich Hill High School.
He moved to Kansas City in 1952 and to Freeman in 1972.
In 1985, he moved to Gravois Mills.
On June 23, 1967, he married Doris Fay Rawdon.
He had been employed by the General Motors Leeds Plant for 33 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the UAW Local 93 and a member of the Christian Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Norma Thompson; and a daughter, Sandie Kay Toland.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Swarens, of the home; three daughters, Dawn Rusow, Harrisonville, Lou Ann Swarens, Las Vegas, Nev., and Sandy Breshears, Adrian; two brothers, Don Swarens, Hume, and Bill Swarens, Kansas City; a sister, Mary Louise Judy, Worland; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Pallbearers were James Rusow, Toby Toland, Justin Rusow, Randall Breshears, Chuck Webster and Cameron Karim.
Services were Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at the Atkinson Chapel with the Rev. Bill Wallace, Springfield, officiating.
Burial was in the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Margaret Bernice Taylor

Margaret Bernice Taylor, 98, Belleview, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in Belleview at Hamp-ton Manor.
She was born Oct. 12, 1903, near Garden City, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Wills) Edmonds.
Mrs. Taylor graduated from Garden City High School and attended Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg.
She taught in several rural schools in Cass County.
On Aug. 22, 1928, she married James A. Taylor.
They lived on a farm near Garden City for many years.
They moved to Harrisonville in 1955 and later moved to Pompano Beach, Fla., to be near their children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garden City, Harrisonville and Pampano Beach.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jim Taylor, on Jan. 18, 1996; her brother, Herbert Edmonds; and her sisters, Edith Kircher, Alice Riffle, Opal Hinken and Thelma Helmuth.
Surviving are her daughter, Joan Wagner, Loxahatchee, Fla.; a son, James L. Taylor, Silver Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Cremation.
Graveside services will be in Pompano Beach.

Doyle Quinton Yoakum

Doyle Quinton Yoakum, 61, Raymore, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1940, in Middlesburg, Ky., the son of Roy Alvas and Lola (Campbell) Yoakum.
Mr. Yoakum had been a truck driver since 1986.
He was a member of the Coleman Baptist Church, Peculiar.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Lola Campbell Yoakum; and twin granddaughters.
surviving are his wife, Linda Yoakum, of the home; his children, Tamela Miller, Lee’s Summit, Jennifer Yoakum, Belton, Angela Yoakum, Raymore, Joseph Yoakum, Rollesville, N.C., Alma Dick, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Annette Dresher, Florence, Ky.; his father, Roy Alvas Yoakum, Kansas City; a sister, Helen Campbell, Butler, Ky.; and two brothers, Kenneth Yoakum and David Yoakum, both of Kansas City; and 12 grandchildren.
Services were Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at the E.K. George & Sons Belton Chapel.
Burial was in the Belton Cemetery under the direction of the E.K. George & Sons Funeral Home, Belton.

Eugenia Abernathy

Eugenia "Tabby" Abernathy, 63, Kansas City, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at North Kansas City Hospital.
She was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Eugene and Katherine (Swetopatrick) Hackett.
Mrs. Abernathy was self-employed and cleaned offices and churches.
She was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God and Beta Sigma Phi.
She moved from Detroit to the Kansas City area in 1970.
Surviving are two sons, David P. Moore, Memphis, Tenn., and Mike A. Moore, Pleasant Hill; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Doug Hartmann, Mike Hodges, Bill Hartmann, Mark Schnelle and Steven Abernathy.
Services were Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill with Dr. Brad Dixon officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley & Son Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
