ROSE EDNA DARRAH
GOLDEN CITY - A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Saturday), at Kingdom Hall, Lamar, for Rose Edna Darrah, 86, Golden City, who died at 4:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar.
Elder Tom Wingert will officiate.
The body has been cremated; burial will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pugh Funeral Home, Golden City.
Survivors include two daughters, Monica Rice, Golden City, and Kathy Kilpatrick; a son, John Darrah, state of California; two sisters, Vivian Brunken, Norwalk, Calif., and Ruth McGregor, state of Arizona; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur and Steven Darrah; two daughters, Jeanette Levizon and Mary Henson; a grandson, Charlie Rice, and a sister, Alice Fomoso.
Mrs. Darrah was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Gardena, Calif., to Arthur and Alice (Bailey) Tyler.
She moved to the Golden City area in 1980.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Lamar.
She married George Corbett Darrah on Feb. 12, 1939, in Gardena, Calif.
He died Sept. 26, 1989.
TEI O達RIEN
GOLDEN CITY - Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lamar, for Tei O達rien, 76, Golden City, who died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at her home.
Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Golden City.
Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Hospice at the First National Bank in Golden City, or in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Oren O達rien; two daughters, Wanda Sue Johnson, Mead, Colo., and Julie Ann Caron, Houston, Texas; a brother, Tsuyosh Omata, Japan; four sisters, Katsuko Dwyer, Golden City, Tamako Weiner and Mieko Kennedy, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sachiko Yamanka, Japan, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Keiichi Omata and Shoji Omata.
Mrs. O達rien was born July 24, 1927, in Tokyo, Japan, to Shotaro and Yone (Aoki) Omata.
She moved to Golden City 45 years ago from Japan.
She was a homemaker and a cook for the Greenfield Nursing Home.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lamar.
She married Oren Leslie O達rien on Aug. 6, 1958, in Tokyo, Japan.
GORDON "AL" ALBERT SINGLETON
LOCKWOOD - Services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Saturday), at the Lockwood Funeral Chapel, for Gordon "Al" Albert Singleton, 67, Lockwood, who died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Lakeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lamar.
Pastor Gary Griffin will officiate.
Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Life Center, or to Community Hospices of America of the Four State Regions. Survivors include his wife, Judy Singleton, of the home; a daughter, Lori Smith and husband John, Lockwood; two sons, Jon Singleton and wife Laura, Raymore, and Mike Singleton and wife Connie, Lockwood; three grandsons, Matthew Smith, Lockwood, and Ryan Singleton and Kyle Singleton, Raymore; a granddaughter, Shelby Singleton, Lockwood, and his father-in-law, Cortis Engelage, Lockwood.
Mr. Singleton was born June 18, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo., to Albert G. and Leona (Dodwell) Singleton.
He was a 1954 graduate of Greenfield High School.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He worked for the Grocers Union in Kansas City for 15 years, and 20 plus years in the lumber business.
He earned his Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say in 1973 as a member of Troop No. 432 in South Kansas City.
He retired and relocated from Kansas City to Lockwood in 1997.
He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Kansas City for 37 years, and a member of the Lockwood Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1997.
He married Judith Engelage on Aug. 26, 1956, in Lockwood.
CLAUDE THOMAS CROWDER
GOLDEN CITY - No services are planned for Claude Thomas, 72, Golden City, who died March 27, 2003, at his home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.
Survivors include two sons, William E. Crowder, Steele, and Claude Thomas Crowder, Jr., Hayti; two daughters, Claudette Dopp, Arnold, and Eugenia Boyer, Holland, Ohio; a sister, Marjorie McCartney, North Little Rock, Ark., and six grandchildren.
Mr. Crowder was born Aug. 25, 1930, in Center Ridge, Conway County, Ark., to William and Dona (Primm) Crowder.
He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a first sergeant.
MARTIN MONROE KARR
OSAGE BEACH - Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon, for Martin Monroe "Mutt" Karr, 86, formerly of Sheldon, who died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Osage Care Center, Osage Beach, following a lengthy illness.
John Nichols officiated.
Burial was in Sheldon Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Louise Karr of the home; a son, Martin Glenn Karr and wife Betty Jean, Osage Beach; a daughter, Connie Jolene Parker and husband Frank, Mountain Home, Ark.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Emmett Karr, Whittier, Calif., and five sisters, Mary Hoodenpyle, Vinita, Okla., Erma Van Every, Nevada, Freda Van Every, Miami, Okla., Alice Potts, Denver, Colo., and Frances Chedshire, Ocean Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Lawrence, Donald Lee, and Cecil Eugene; a sister, Anna Ruth, and a great-granddaughter, Erin Nicole Karr.
Mr. Karr was born Nov. 9, 1916, in California, Mo., to Martin Monroe Karr, Sr. and Winnie Elizabeth Bilyeu Karr.
He was a farmer most of his career, residing near Sheldon.
He retired to the Lake of the Ozarks, Osage Beach area.
He was a member of the Dunnegan Grove Christian Church near Sheldon.
BLOSSOM J CHARLTON
LIBERAL - Services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Saturday), at Liberal Christian Church, for Blossom J Charlton, 89, Liberal, who died at 6:58 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, following a short illness.
Burial will be in Barton City Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Charlton and Gary Charlton, both of Lamar, and James Charlton, Palm Springs, Calif.; six grandsons, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Charlton was born June 15, 1913, in Barton County, to Ross Cunningham and Lena Davis.
She was a lifetime resident, and a homemaker.
She was a member of Mt. Hope Chapter No. 74 OES, Liberal Quilting Club, and Liberal Christian Church.
She married Archie J Charlton on Feb. 28, 1934, in Lamar.
He died March 25, 1994.
PEARL FREEMAN
LAMAR - Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, at Lohmeyer-Konantz Chapel, for Pearl Freeman, 92, Lamar, who died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Assembly of God Foreign Missions, in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include a son, Delmar Doyle, Houston, Texas; a brother, Willard Dempsey Divine, Blue Lake, Calif., and a sister, Dorothy Waterman, Rolla. She was preceded in death by four brothers, two sons and two grandchildren. Mrs. Freeman was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Sylvania, to Jack and Eura (Taylor) Divine.
She was a lifetime area resident, and a homemaker.
She married Charles J. Freeman on Feb. 18, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo. He died March 18, 1998.
