Archie Victor Perciante, 83, of Raymore, Mo., died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Foxwood Springs Living Center.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit, with burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Visitation is 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mitcheal Clifford Taylor, 88, of Lee’s Summit died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Lee’s Summit Hospital.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 16, at Langsford Funeral Home, with burial in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Friends called from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at the funeral home.
Mitcheal was born Aug. 18, 1911, in Oak Grove, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Taylor, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Glover; and four grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Stephen Glover, Danny and Jill Glover, Micah Glover and Matthew Glover.

VEVA EILEEN VAN DYKE
Veva Eileen Van Dyke, 77, of Lake Lotawana passed away Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Lee’s Summit Hospital.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Lake Lotawana United Methodist Church, with burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Friends called from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 16, at Langsford Funeral Home.
Veva was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Kahoka, Mo.
She was a charter member of the Lake Lotawana United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Community Club.
She was a very active member in the community.
She served as a Girl Scout leader for her daughters, and a Cub Scout leader and Explorer Post advisor for her son.
She was a member of Mason School PTA for more than 15 years.
Veva was also a member of the Lotawana Fire Department Auxiliary, and an emergency medical technician for the Rescue Unit.
Veva and her husband were among the earliest residents of Lake Lotawana and belonged to most of the local organizations at one time or another.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James “Jim” Van Dyke; and a brother, Eddie Brammer.
She is survived by three children and spouses, Sharon and Larry Hess, Kay and Rick Duncan, and Jim and Suzie Van Dyke II; six grandchildren, Paul and Kristin, Jeff, Sheila and Angie, and Jim III; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Luber and Ruth Saulsbury; a brother, Leo Brammer; four sisters-in-law, Jerry Brammer, Kathryn Smith, Frances Cisternino and Virginia Warren; and a multitude of loving nieces and nephews.

GRETCHEN K. HAMPTON HAHN
Gretchen K. Hampton Hahn, 59, of Lee’s Summit died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Jefferson Health Care Center, cremation followed by private memorial service.

Gretchen was born Feb. 28, 1941, in Triplett, Mo.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Amy and Mike Engler, Beth Hahn, and Sara Duane Mueller; five grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bill Waite; a step-father, Don Standley; three nieces and a nephew.

MARY ALICE HARNSBERGER
Mary Alice Harnsberger, 64, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Lee’s Summit Hospital.
Funeral services are 9 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Chapel, with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 8 a.m. to service time Saturday at the chapel.
Mary Alice was born Oct. 25, 1935 in Lee’s Summit to Clarence Edgar and Nellie Alice Keller.
She retired from Southwestern Bell where she had been a Pioneer.
She is survived by her husband, Charles W. Harnsberger, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim Harnsberger and Jo Couts, Kansas City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Bryan O’Grady, Lee’s Summit, and Sandra and John Arnold, Harrisonville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and Christine, Jessica, Matthew and Tyler, and Jeffrey and Jacob; one great-grandchild on-the-way; a sister, Nina Mae Smith; a brother, Ernest E. Keller; an aunt, Treva O. Armstrong; and two uncles, Clyde E. Armstrong and Elmer L. Armstrong.
She was always a caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be missed by her loving family and dear friends.

Esther A. Lamb, 92, of Lee’s Summit, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Lee’s Summit Hospital.
Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit, with burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Visitation was from 1:30 to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Village Church, 512 N.W. Murray, Lee’s Summit, MO, or the Ambassador Club, John Knox Village.
She was a member of the Village Church at John Knox Village and a member of the K.C. Connie Burns American Legion Auxiliary No. 71.
She served as a volunteer at the Kansas City veterans hospital for more than 25 years.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip S. Lamb in 1986.
She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth and J. Jones, Olathe, Kan., and Norma Johnson, Gallatin, Mo.
She was aunt, mother and grandmother to many nieces, nephews and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all of them.

ROBERT L. MAXEY WHORTON
Robert “Bob” L. Maxey Whorton, 61, of Moberly, Mo., passed away Monday, April 17, 2000, at his home after a valiant struggle with lymphoma. Visitation was 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home, Moberly.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at First Christian Church, Moberly, with burial following at Shelburne Baptist Church family cemetery in rural Trenton, Mo.
Rev. Jay Self, Dr. Wallis Landrum and Rev. Zane Whorton officiate.
The family suggests memorials to be made to Home-Care of Mid-Missouri, 102 W. Reel St., Moberly, MO, the First Christian Church of Moberly, or the American Cancer Society.
He was born Nov. 17, 1938, in Grundy County, Mo., the son of Marden Maxey and Margaret (Maxey) Whorton.
In July 1960, he married Bonnie Robinett of Lee’s Summit.
Robert and Bonnie had three children, Colleen, Lance and Zane.
Bob was an active member of the First Christian Church, Moberly, serving as an elder and past chairman of the board.
He also served as an area supply minister for the Northeast Area of the Disciples of Christ.
After many years in retail, Bob joined the administrative staff of HomeCare of Mid-Missouri as home and community services director, where he worked for the past eight years.
He served as legislative chair for the Missouri Alliance of Home-Care and the Missouri Council of In-Home Services.
He was a familiar face to those at the state capital and the Missouri Division of Aging where he helped develop several laws in support of the Patient Bill of Rights serving the elderly and disabled through home-care services.
Bob was an active community leader serving on multiple boards and committees.
Most recently he was involved in the development of the Rural Health-Care Ministry Association for Randolph County.
Bob was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, sports enthusiast and Kansas City Chiefs fan, but most of all his favorite past times involved his family.
He spent more than 20 years coaching softball and baseball teams, served as Pack 201 Cubmaster for six years, supported school activities and served as a PTA board member in Moberly schools.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Marden Maxey; his mother, Margaret Whorton; a step-sister, Judy Whorton; and a step-brother, Richard Whorton.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, Moberly; his children and spouses, Colleen and Richard Kargel, Cedar, Minn., Lance and Laurie Whorton, Highland, Ill., and Zane Whorton, a ministerial student at Culver-Stockton College in Missouri; a granddaughter, Jordan Lynn Whorton, Highland; a mother-in-law, Nellie Robinett Myers, Lincoln, Mo.; a step-father, Harold Whorton, Raytown, Mo.; two sisters, Carolyn Prather, Raytown, and Betty Martin, Nebraska; a step-brother, Ronald Whorton, Kansas City; numerous nieces and nephews; and family and friends.

Archie Victor Perciante passed away Thursday, April 13, 2000, at his residence in Foxwood Springs Living Center, Raymore, Mo.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit, with burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
Visitation was 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Perciante family asks individuals wishing to honor Archie with a memorial tribute should designate their gifts to the Foxwood Springs Living Center Fellowship of John.
Archie was born July 9, 1916, in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada, where he graduated from St. Joseph’s Elementary School, 1930, and from Port Arthur Technical and Commercial High School, 1936.
From 1941 to 1945, during World War II, Archie worked in Vancouver, B.C., for Boeing Aircraft manufacturing warplanes.
While in Vancouver, on June 25, 1942, he married Eleanor M. Dalzell, also from Port Arthur.
At the end of the war, Archie returned to Port Arthur to a management position with Marathon Paper Mills from 1946 to 1952, and during this time, he and his older brother, Guy Perciante, opened a retail sporting goods business.
On Feb. 3, 1952, Archie moved his wife and family to the United States.
He soon became a long-term employee of Western Electric Company, Syracuse, N.Y., from 1952 to 1974, and later in Montgomery, Ala., where he would retire in 1978.
Most of his retirement years were spent in Florida and Independence.
While in New York, Archie and family were active members of the North Syracuse Baptist Church where Archie was known for his profound and practiced faith.
As a parent of three children and grandfather of eight grandchildren, Archie will be best remembered as one who loved God and who sought to honor the Lord in his daily life.
Archie is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Grazia DiTurzi Perciante; his sister, Laura, on Sept. 7, 1977; and a brother Guy, in Nov. 1962, all in Port Arthur.
Archie is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor; three children and spouses, Terence C. and Virginia Thompson Perciante, West Chicago, Ill., Laurie and James Darrah, Lee’s Summit, and Christopher and Linda Rensink Perciante, Loveland, Colo.
