Gertrude F. McFarland
Gertrude Frances McFarland, 84, of Sedalia, born October 17, 1919, in Pleasant Green, Missouri, daughter of William and Gertrude Potter Tavenner. On November 2, 1940, in Sedalia, she death by three sisters, Mary Lou Losee, Joan Burge and Willeta Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2004, at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Potter and the Rev. Bob Potter officiating.
Pallbearers will be Eldon O'Neill, Don Morton, Dale Anderson, Darren Lefevers, Wayne Stackhouse and Charles Palmer
Burial will be in Crown Hill died early Saturday morning, September 18, 2004 at Four Seasons Living Center.
She was married to John Earl McMullin, who survives of the home.
Barbara graduated from Smith-Cotton High School and attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar. She was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church. She had worked at Cargill Feed in Smithton for 12½ years. She also had worked as a proofreader for the Sedalia Democrat, was the Smithton City Clerk, owned a tax service, and was publisher for the Smithton Informer.
She was a tutor for the State Fair Community College reading program. She enjoyed writing poems, stories, and keeping the family tree. She wrote a history of Smithton Baptist Church and was a dedicated church worker most of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a friend to many.
Survivors include her husband, John E. McMullin, of the home; two sons, Steven McMullin, of Sedalia, and Stuart McMullin, of Kansas City; two daughters, Shelley Miller and Sonia Setzer, both of Sedalia; a brother, Lyman Leroy Guymon, of Sedalia; two sisters, Betty Sanford, of Springfield, and Helen Findley, of Columbia; six granddaughters; and a great granddaughter.
She was preceded in Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Guymon, Kevin Hepburn, Kelly Birdsong, Mitchell Walker, Andrew McMullin and Donny Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tarah Wittman, Katie McMullin, Kelli Miller, Jami Miller, Kristi Miller and Samantha Setzer.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Leslie D. McMullin
Leslie D. McMullin, 95, of Cole Camp, formerly of Sedalia, born January 18, 1908, in Pettis County, Missouri, near Beaman. On July 31, 1934, in Smithton, he died January 13, 2000.
Mr. McMullin was a member of First Baptist Church. He worked as a cattle, hog and row crop farmer. He worked for Manor Bakery for three years and he and his wife owned and operated Grand Cleaners for four years. He attended Lamine School near Clifton City and had lived in Pettis County all of his life.
Surviving are twenty-seven nephews and nieces, including John McMullin, Don McMullin, Glenn McMullin, Wayne McMullin, Lyle McMullin, Daryle McMullin, Mildred Walker, Kay Hepburn, JoAnn Birdsong, Delores Cantwell, LaVera Fisher and Alda Steele, all of Sedalia.
He was preceded in Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Violet Pearl McNulty
Violet Pearl McNulty, 80, of Sedalia, born November 5, 1923, in Fortuna, Missouri, daughter of Cyrus Delmar and Alpha Ann Turpin Ferguson. On October 20, 1940, she was death. On August 15, 1965, in Pettis County, she was death by a daughter, Elsie Maxine Birge; a step son, Jacob McNulty; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Asahel Albert Ferguson and Bobby Ferguson; and three sisters, Beulah Hickman, Louise Gilbert and Marie Wehmeir.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5 at Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. Farrie Cole, Jr. and the Rev. Bruce Campbell officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Williamson, Bob Edwards, Frankie Gilbert, Wayne Ferguson and Ben Cooper.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
Friends may call after noon Sunday, April 4 at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Providence Baptist Church or the Diabetes Association.
Frances Martindill Mains
Frances Martindill Mains, 96, of Tipton, formerly of Sedalia, born March 24, 1908, in Hamden, Vinton County, Ohio, daughter of Ernest Winfield and Sara Rowena Walters Martindill. On May 28, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she died April 15, 1988.
Mrs. Mains was a member of the Tipton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Phi Upsilon Omicron, Honorary Home Economics Sorority, Kappa Phi National Methodist Girls Sorority and Davie School Foundation. Mrs. Mains graduated from Hamden High School in 1926, and from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio in 1930, with a bachelor of science degree in home economics education. She taught three years in Ohio and one year in Indiana. Later she attended Barry College in North Miami, Florida, then taught for 21 years in Davie Elementary School in Davie, Florida, 10 miles west of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She retired in 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Coggeshall, of Tipton; a son, William Mains, of Knightstown, Indiana; two brothers, William Martindill, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Charles Scott Martindill, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a sister, Ruth Wilson, of Haines City, Florida. She was preceded in died Saturday night, December 13, 2003 at the Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was married Bettie Barlow, who survives of the home.
Mr. Loughridge was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He had worked for Roseland Meat Company for 15 years and had worked for the City of Sedalia Street and Alley Department as a heavy machinery operator until he retired in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Bettie Loughridge, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Peter Warren, of Sedalia; a brother, Lash Loughridge, of Blue Springs; a sister, Alice Barnes, of Sedalia; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be W. R. Luckow, Jake Dillon, George Ditzfeld, Roger Vettes, Joe Bass and John Higgins.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Bryant, Bob Haggard, Jess Marquess, Lloyd Paxton, Charlie Amos, Clifford Dickey and Charles Curry.
The family will receive friends from7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
