Michael W. Davis, Sedalia
Michael W. Davis, 52, of Sedalia, born July 4, 1955, in Sedalia, a son of Earl Kenneth and Virginia Woolery Davis
He lived all of his life in Sedalia. He was an over the road truck driver, who loved his job. He enjoyed motorcycle racing, car racing and football.
Surviving are his mother, of Sedalia; and three brothers, Clayton Davis, of Sedalia, Cliff Davis, of Overland Park, Kan., and Dan Davis, of La Monte.
He was predeceased by his father; and a brother, Roger Lee Davis.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date. Friends may sign a memorial book from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home.
Marian A. Hibdon, Bakersfield, Calif.
Marian A. Hibdon, 79, of Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Versailles, born Dec. 22, 1927 in Camden, a daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Anna Ger-trude Massey. She was died earlier.
She was a successful self-employed beautician for 30 years and a very talented dancer, singer and songwriter. She was a Baptist.
Surviving are three sons, Alfred E. Hibdon, of Los Angeles, Calif., Ron S. Hibdon, of Bakersfield, and Orville C. Hibdon, Ojai, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Wendy, Kimberly, Amber, and Eric; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by three brothers, Benjamin Jr., William, and Jack; and a sister, Irene.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Inurnment will be in the Holst died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.
She was married to William D. Hazlett., who Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Katy Manor.
Bernice P. Gibson, Sedalia
Bernice Pearl Gibson, 87, of Sedalia, formerly of Bunceton, born Jan. 4, 1920, in Beaman, a daughter of Perry Daniel and Grace Albertine Lee Hudson. On June 5, 1937, at her parent’s home in Smithton, she was died July 3, 1981.
She confessed her faith in Jesus as a youth. She was a member of the Smithton Baptist Church, Syracuse Baptist Church, Bunceton Baptist Church and Broadway Baptist in Sedalia.
Surviving are four daughters, Janice Dodson, of Chicago, Jeree Smith, of Sedalia, Janette Williams, of Lee’s Summit, and Jo Anne Lucas, of Paola, Kan.; two sisters, Ila Eichholz, of Sedalia, and Ruby Jepsen, of Emmaus, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by an infant son, William Berl Jr.; four sisters, Naomi Werz, Jewel Ruff, Lucille Heinzler and Vera Lackey; and a brother, Tom Hudson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Donald Allcorn and Dr. Farabee officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Prater, Ronnie Berry, Steve Berry, Ben Maliwat, Don Gaunt and Kevin Hoehns. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Hughes, Cory Stankiewicz, Alexander Stankiewicz and Jordan Johnson. Burial will be in Smithton died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was married to Arthur Wolfe, who survives.
She moved to La Monte as a small child and received her education in the rural schools of Pettis County. She was a 1940 graduate of Sweet Springs High School. She moved back to Sedalia in 1941 and was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for several years. She retired after working at Inter-state Studios.
She was an active member of East Sedalia Baptist Church, where she worked in the preschool department and with other youth organizations for several years. She was a member of the T.E.L. Bible Study Class and the Baptist Women’s Missionary Union. She enjoyed making quilts and sending cards and notes of encouragement to sick and homebound friends.
Also surviving are a son, the Rev. Neil Wolfe, and his wife, Joyce, of Holden; two grandsons, John Wolfe and Stephen Wolfe; and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister in infancy; and two brothers, Eugene Holman, and Douglas Holman.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Isgriggs officiating. Pallbearers will be C. H. Williams, Jerry Holman, John Wolfe, Stephen Wolfe, Rex Smiley and Alonzo Harris. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral chapel.
The family suggest memorial contributions to East Sedalia Baptist Church, in care of the funeral chapel.
Frank Chambers, Windsor
Frank Chambers, 78, of Windsor, born Oct. 20, 1928, in Richland, a son of Jessie Gordon and Daphne Faye Gordon Chambers. On June 5, 1949, in Buffalo, he was Cemetery in Windsor.
Robert Mefford, Corpus Christi, Texas
Robert “Bob” Mefford, 47, of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of Windsor, born June 13, 1960, in Chitose, Hokkaido, Japan, a son of Hugh Robert and Masako Ioka Mefford.
He graduated from Windsor High School in 1979. He then joined the Navy, serving in the Persian Gulf on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation as an aircraft mechanic. After his discharge, he returned for a short while to Windsor before settling in Honolulu, where he was a mechanic for a local tourist airline. Afterwards, he moved to Tacoma, Wash., and worked for Manke Lumber Co. He eventually settled in Corpus Christi, where he worked in construction.
He was artistic. In his younger years, he was skilled in woodworking, metalwork and drawing. With his family, he enjoyed camping and other outdoor activities. He had a passion for motorcycles and was a member of a motorcycle club.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Allen “Robbie” Mefford and Anthony Thomas Mefford, both of Tonopah, Ariz.; a daughter, Crystal Brianne Mefford, of Tonopah; his parents, of Windsor; a brother, John Mefford, of Tacoma; and two nephews.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor, with the Rev. Doug Hall officiating. A memorial fund has been established for his children, and contributions may be given in care of the funeral home.
