Andrew S. Kammerich, Warsaw
Andrew S. Kammerich, 89, of Warsaw, born Aug. 8, 1918, in Syracuse, a son of Andrew and Rosemary Heinnen Kammerich. On Nov. 8, 1941, in Tipton, he was died Feb. 28, 2000.
After their marriage, the couple moved to Tipton. He worked for the Hercules Power Plant in DeSoto, Kan. for three years. He then started his own concrete wall construction company in 1949. In 1955, they moved to Warsaw. He started a Ford Tractor Company in Warsaw which he owned and operated for seven years. He then returned to the concrete business full time and operated a very successful commercial concrete business, retiring in 1981. He was very active in the St. Ann’s Catholic Church and was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers at the church. He was instrumental in forming the Jay Harris Council of the Knights of Columbus and helped with the development of their first hall as well as obtaining their present hall. He served as a director of the Osage Valley Bank, now known as Hawthorn Bank, for over 30 years. Following his retirement, the couple spent many countless days and nights traveling. The couple saw all 50 states and several countries, which included two visits to the Holy Land. They were also members of a RV club and spent many nights camping and enjoying the friendships they made.
Surviving are a daughter, Andrea White, of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Brock Hockman of Kansas City, and Misty Hockman of St. Louis; and a great-grandson, Aiden Levi Hockman.
Funeral services and mass will be at 9 a.m., Tuesday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, with Friar Keith Branson officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrews died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was married to Roy W. Bertrand, who survives of the home.
She had lived in Sweet Springs since 1988 moving from Liberty. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. She was a graduate of North Kansas City High School and attended nursing school in St. Joseph. She was a registered nurse for more than 50 years working in hospitals and nursing homes. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Also surviving are nine children, Wilfred Bertrand, of Stafford, Texas, Kenneth Bertrand, of Riverton, Wyo., William Bertrand, of Concord, Neb., Sidney Davis, of Diamond, Joyce Malone, of Waterbury, Neb., Carl Bertrand, of Grifton, N.C., Kevin Bertrand, of Kansas City, David Bertrand, of Clinton, and Richard Bertrand, of Sweet Spring; two brothers, Thomas Rose, of Missouri, and Charles Rose, of Kansas; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, with the Rev. William Roy Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veteran died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Overland Park.
She was married to Richard Goodheart, who Cemetery, with Cantor Paul Silbersher officiating. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the National Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral chapel.
Joe R. Simmons, Pilot Grove
Joe R. Simmons, 72, of Pilot Grove, formerly of Blackwater, born July 18, 1935, in Cooper County, a son of Henry and Lena Edwards Simmons.
He lived for many years in the Blackwater community and worked as a farm hand there.
Surviving are three brothers, Ben Simmons, of Blackwater, William Simmons, of Boonsboro, and Jim Simmons.
He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Peninsula died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 at Carmel Hills Health Care in Independence.
She was married to Monte R. Finley, who Cemetery near Versailles. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Glensted died Wednesday evening, Aug. 15, 2007 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
She was married to John H. Edwards, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a son, Gary Johnson of Mexico, Mo.; a brother, Charles White, of Kansas City; five sisters, Emma Chambers, of Kansas City, Wanda Gretzinger and Patricia White, both of Buckner, Balinda Burge, of Independence, and Tina Linz, of Harrisonville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons, Jerry and Larry Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Dean Allen, Windsor
Dean Allen, 69, of Windsor, born Nov. 2, 1937, in Sedalia, a son of Cletis G. and Verdie Fern Staats Allen. On March 17, 1957, at First Christian Church in Windsor, he was Cemetery in rural Green Ridge.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Assembly of God Church or to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Home Service in Clinton, in care of the funeral home.
