Ruth E. Duffey, Blackburn
Ruth E. Duffey, 83, of Blackburn, born May 8, 1924, in Sweet Spring, a daughter of Arch and Lola Scott Grimes. On Sept. 28, 1940, in Sedalia, she was died May 23, 2001.
She attended school in Sweet Springs and was a seamstress for Grace Co. in Belton.
Surviving are a son, Scott C. Duffey, of Blackburn; three grandchildren, Kimberly Owen, Dana Sleeper and Patrick Duffey; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home in La Monte, with the Rev. Glenn Nowack officiating. Burial will be in Sweet Springs died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at her home.
She was married to Gilbert L. Hoch, who survives of the home.
She was a homemaker and a member of the West Lake Christian Church and Millstone Wheelers Square Dancers.
Survivors include: two sons, Gregory M. Hoch and his wife Linda, of Chandler, Az., and Bradley L. Hoch and his wife Deborah, of Huntersville, N.C.; a daughter, Deborah R. Dumey and her husband David, of Ellisville; a sister, Irene Hofer, of Owensboro, Kentucky; and 10 grandchildren, Todd, Amber, Kara, Bryan, Leah, Erica, Hannah, David, Catherine, and Megan
She was preceded in died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was married to Leonard Y. Tripp, who Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Golden Age Living Center or Butterfield Youth Services.
Sue B. Brockman, La Monte
Florence Sue Belle Brockman, 75, of La Monte, born Jan. 12, 1932, a daughter of Homer and Myrl Poynter Kindle. On Dec. 18, 1948, in Sedalia, she was Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Bethlehem Baptist Church or the Kidney Foundation.
John E. Garrett, Windsor
John E. Garrett, 100, of Windsor, formerly of Saline County, born May 3, 1907, in Saline County, a son of Lewis W. and Leila Cott Garrett. On Nov. 30, 1929, he was died Oct. 21, 1996.
He lived in Saline County most of his life. He worked at International Shoe Factory in Sweet Springs, retiring after 48 years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church in Sweet Springs, where he had served as a deacon. He was a charter member of the Sweet Springs Saddle Club and a member of the Sweet Springs Gun Club. In 1978, he moved to Pettis County and later to Windsor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are two daughters, Jo Ann Arnold Jefcoat, and her husband, Robert, of Windsor, and Virginia D. Gregory, and her husband, Marion, of rural Green Ridge; three grandchildren; six step grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Vivian Wenzel and Marguerite Geisendorfer; and three brothers, Harvey, Richard and Roy Garrett.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs, with the Rev. Randy Shannon officiating. Pallbearers will be Stephen Arnold, James Buehler, Phillip Gudde and Wilbert Fischer. Burial will be in Fairview died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach.
He was married to Glendola Hogland, who survives of the home.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion in Prescott, Ariz. He worked most of his life as an auto body mechanic. After his retirement, he still enjoyed tinkering with cars and hunting. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Also surviving are two children, Geraldine Floyd, of Amarillo, Texas, and Larry Hogland, of Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, W.C. Hogland, of Sunrise Beach, and Loyal Gene Hogland, of Camdenton; a sister, Hazel Coburn, of Wentzville; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Carl Ray Hogland; one daughter, Betty June Tittle; four brothers; and six sisters.
Memorial services were held Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with the Rev. Teddy Renolett officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
