Gladys L. Maret, Sedalia
Gladys Louise Maret, 85, of Sedalia, born Aug. 6, 1922, in Carroll County, Md., a daughter of Clarence Edward and Florence Elizabeth Cookson Sheely. On May 5, 1945, in Littlestown, Pa., she was married to Charles E. Maret, who died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Rest Haven Convalescent Home.
He was married to Elda Eckhoff.
He was a member of Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church. He graduated from Cole Camp High School in 1955. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1961 to 1963, and was stationed in Germany. He worked as a lineman and foreman for Missouri Public Service and Central Missouri Electric Co-op. He retired in 1994.
He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1494, Elks Lodge BPOE 125 and American Legion Post 642. He enjoyed fishing, doing yard work, gardening, traveling with his family, visiting with family and friends, having coffee with his buddies and driving his red truck. He had lived all his life in Sedalia.
Surviving are three daughters, Robin Tennant, and her husband, Dan, of Peachtree, Ga., Rhonda Bryson, of Independence, and Rita Lawson, and her husband, Chris, of Kansas City; a sister, Mary Jo Bryson, of St. Joseph, and two brothers, Roy W. Bryson and his wife, Elaine, of Sedalia, and John Dee Bryson, of Sedalia; four grandsons, Shelby Barker, Chris Bryson, Mel Lawson and Owen Lawson; and two great granddaughters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ivonne Marshall officiating. Pallbearers will be Bob Hesse, Ronnie Page, Marvin Ehlers. Charles Hopkins, Jake Hartung and Merlyn Shephard. Honorary bearers will be Charlie Curry, Jim Treece, Jim Hankins, Mark Gray, Sonny Broyles, Terry Sheere and Rick Dickenson. Burial will be in Crown Hill died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was married to Ellen Gray, who survives of the home.
He was 1951 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was an instructor in the ground maintenance school for B-47 bombers. He went into retail automotive sales in 1956.
He was a partner with David Routzong in R&R; Motors from 1966 to 1969. He worked in financing, retail sales and as a sales manager. For the last 25 years, he worked for Mary Alice and David Malmo at David Malmo Motors. He retired Dec. 31, 2002. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 272 for 50 years. He served as a deacon at First Christian Church, where he was a member for more than 50 years and had served on various committees. He was recently honored as deacon emeritus of First Christian Church. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal booster.
Also surviving are a son, Virgil Dean Rodgers II, of Sedalia; two daughters, Keli June Rodgers, of Kansas City, and Kami Louise Rodgers, of New York, N.Y.; a sister, Frankie June Roberts, of Victoria, Texas; and a brother, Maurice Calvin Rodgers Jr., of Sedalia.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Jim Stovall officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Gray, Steve England, Jack Cook, Stuart Walton, Terry Arnold, Ken Norton and Bob Kaveler. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Menefee, Tom Menefee, Gene Williams, David Malmo, Dr. Jeffery Sharp, Euphemia Zahringer, Lynette Wright, Robert Bond, Bus Walker and the members of Bethany Class at First Christian Church. Burial will be in Crown Hill died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at her home.
She was married to Don R. Kearney, who married. She worked at Town and Country Shoes, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a former member of Women of the Moose. She enjoyed being a part of a women’s bowling league. She loved dancing, visiting with friends and traveling. She took pride in being a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Roger Dale Kearney, and his wife, Sheilah, and Terry Joe Kearney, and his wife, Marti, both of Sedalia; nine brothers, Albert Dillon, of Napton, Carroll Wayne Dillon, of Marshall, Darrell Dillon and Johnny Ray Dillon, both of Houstonia, Jackie Dillon, Jerry Dillon, Brian Dillon and Scott Dillon, all of Sweet Springs, and Aaron Dillon, of Sedalia; two sisters, Dorothy Cornine and Mary Ann Johnson, both of Houstonia; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by an infant brother, Delbert Dillon; and two sisters, Kathryn Sleeper and Betty Lou Gaddy.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Kearney, Teddy Kearney, Jeffrey Kearney, Keith Balke, Kevin Simpson and Phillip Pitts. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Kearney Jr., Shane Paul, Amanda Balke, Crystal Kearney, Rachel Kearney, Melissa Simpson, Kimberly Kearney and Haley Kearney. Burial will be in Crown Hill died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at the Moore-Few Care Center.
She was married to Fred. J. L. Grabau, who Cemetery in Cole Camp. Friends may call from 8 a.m. today to 9 a.m. Tuesday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, Mo.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.
James C. Crouch, Versailles
James Clifford Crouch, 59, of Versailles, born Oct. 4, 1948, in Holt, a son of Clifford and Louetta Baber Crouch.
He was a painter.
Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Jolene Lemons, of Lansing, Kan.; his mother, of Versailles; his companion, Teri Nations, of Versailles; a brother, Steven Ray Crouch, of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Linda Louetta Tansek, of Waynesburg, Ohio, and Mary Susan Edwards, of Batavia, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bank of Versailles Courtesy Room in Versailles.
