Herbert J. Eckhoff, 1914-2007, Sedalia
Herbert J. Eckhoff, 92, of Sedalia, formerly of Stover and Cole Camp, born July 23, 1914, in Stover, a son of Fred and Augusta Eckhoff.
On Oct. 3, 1937, in Avoca, Iowa, he was died March 6, 2002.
Mr. Eckhoff was raised and educated in Stover. He was a farmer and farmed an area between Stover and Cole Camp for 29 years before moving to Sedalia.
He enjoyed working with cattle and outdoor life. He also was a carpenter and painter. He worked in the maintenance department at Bothwell Regional Health Center for several years.
He was a devout and lifelong member of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Stover and most recently a member of Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sedalia. He served on the church council and was very active in all church activities. He enjoyed gardening and furniture making. He had a natural artistic talent.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Holsten, and her husband, Willard, of Sedalia; and a grandson, Russell E. Holsten, of Sedalia.
He was also predeceased by three brothers, Joe, Leonard and Milburn Eckhoff; and a sister, Elda Gerlt.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Yvonne Marshall officiating. Pallbearers will be Russell E. Holsten, Paul Williams, Stanley Young, Leo Dick, Steve Marshall and Jim Meyer. Burial will be in Memorial Park died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007.
She was married to Michael Mansdorfer, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Mansdorfer was raised in Lafayette, Ind. She had a special passion for helping the homeless and those in need. She worked extensively with settling refugees and reaching out to internationals. She was very involved with church and sharing her faith. She lived in Sedalia from 1993 to 1995.
Also surviving are two children, Hannah Mansdorfer and Jacob Mansdorfer, both of the home.
A memorial service was held at City on the Hill Church in Boulder, Colo.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Solar Baker Funeral Home in Lafayette. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Laurie Mansdorfer Refugee Fund, in care of Ahl-berg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501.
Marie C. Dunlap, 1913-2007, Salina, Kan.
Marie C. Dunlap, 93, of Salina, Kan., born Sept. 10, 1913, in Custer, S.D., a daughter of Louis and Ann Edmonds.
She was died in 2001.
Mrs. Dunlap was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for Salina Auto Parts.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Women.
She had been a Girl and Boy Scout leader and a PTA member.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Dunlap, and his wife, Cathy, of Salina, and Evans Dunlap, and his wife, Jackie, of Gardner; two daughters, Joy Gawith, and her husband, Al, of Salina, and Donna Poort, and her husband, Steve, of Sedalia; a sister, Ileen Tschirhart, of Blue Springs; nine grandchildren, David Dunlap, Tanya Clynch, Catherine Rider, Rhonda Lambert, Kelly Poort, Nicole Swanson, Sabrina Dunlap, Renee Newbanks and Trenton Dunlap; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Betsy Dunlap in 1987.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Salina, with the Rev. Marshall Stanton officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Darrell L. Baker, 1944-2007, Sedalia
Darrell Lynn Baker, 63, of Sedalia, born Jan. 10, 1944, in Red Oak, Iowa, a son of Vernon W. and Marie F. Johnson Baker. On Jan. 10, 1992, in Sedalia, he was Cemetery in Hughesville. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Smithton Community Teachers Association Scholarship Fund.
Dennis R. Dority, 1950-2007, Stover
Dennis R. Dority, 56, of Stover, born June 25, 1950, in Kansas City, a son of Wilbert M. and Goldie Lindsey Dority. On July 15, 1972, at Christ Lutheran Church in Stover, he was died Oct. 4, 1990.
Mr. Dority was a 1969 graduate of Stover High School. He was an Army veteran. He was a self-employed carpet installer and builder in the Stover area for several years. He also was a certified lead tester and a certified building inspector. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover.
He enjoyed being outdoors, where he could cut wood, go trail riding on his horses and spend time on the farm. He liked going to car and horse shows, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Crystal J. Dority, of Atlanta; his mother, of Stover; and his companion of 10 years, Dorothy Miller, of Stover.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Stover, with the Rev. Steve Robinson and Kevin Barker officiating. Burial will be in the Kipp Memorial Addition of Stover born in Kansas City on Feb. 16, died Saturday, Feb. 17, and Sunday Feb. 18, 2007, respectively.
They were the daughters of Bryan and Erika Hunt, of Blue Springs, who survive of the home.
Also surviving are the maternal grandparents, Larry and Joyce Hoyes, of LaGrange.; maternal great-grandparents, Lloyd and Naomi Harrell, of Carthage, Ill.; paternal grandparents, Steve and Marie Hunt, of Sedalia; paternal great-grandparents, Ruth Waggoner, of Joplin, and Gerald and Carol Norton, of Laferia, Texas; and paternal great-great-grandmother, Connie Becker, of Abdingdon, Va.
They were predeceased by their maternal great-grandparents, Julian and Alice Hoyes, and paternal great-grandmother, Merna Norton.
Private services were held Saturday. Memorial gifts may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City.
