Lavona M. Fischer, 1916-2006, Sedalia
Lavona Martha Fischer, 90, of Sedalia, born Aug. 27, 1916, in Glenstead, a daughter of August H. and Martha Windler Fischer.
Ms. Fischer was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was the librarian for several years. She also was active in St. Paul's Ladies Aid and Quilter's Group. She taught Sunday School for several years and was a former member of the Alter Guild. She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1935 and attended Central Business College in Sedalia. She was a bookkeeper for Bichsel Jewelry for eight years and for Bryant Motor Co. for 33 years. She lived in Sedalia most of her life.
Surviving are a sister, Verneta Koeller, of Sedalia; and a nephew, Marvin Buford, of Fort Myers, Fla.
She was predeceased by a brother, Edgar Fischer, in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ken Tatkenhorst officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was married to Howard F. Robertson, who married to Milborne F. McLennan, who married to Delbert Ollison, who predeceased her.
Mrs. Ollison enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing and playing bingo. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Walker Circle.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna McCannon, and her husband, Joe, of Sedalia; two sons, David L. Robertson, of Lincoln, and Howard F. "Rick" Robertson Jr., and his wife, Gretchen, of Otterville; and a sister, Laverne Coffman, of Eldon; 13 grandchildren, Timothy, Jennifer, Christopher, Mackie, Angel, Misty Jo, Rikki, Johnny, Lisa, Tammy, Susan, April and Nichole; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by five brothers; three sisters; and three infant grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ritchie died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
She was funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Versailles died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at University Hospital in Columbia.
She was married to Dr. William R. Cole, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Cole was a homemaker and attended the Methodist church. She lived in Sedalia from 1970 to 1993, moving from St. Louis. She then lived in Dallas from 1993 to 1996. She also maintained a home in Laurie. She returned to Sedalia this year.
She was a member of the Helen G. Steele Music Club, Audubon Club and Liberty Center Association for the Arts, all in Sedalia.
Also surviving are a son, Barry Charles Cole, and his wife, Linda, of Harveyville, Kan., four grandchildren, Scott Cole, Sara Cole, Cary Cole and Lindsey Cole; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two stepsisters, Nita Hale and Mildred Meyer.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with the Rev. Elizabeth King officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Saline County Animal League or charity of the donor's choice.
Fern M. McGinnis, 1935-2006, Versailles
Fern Marie McGinnis, 71, of Versailles, born July 28, 1935, in Versailles, a daughter of Tiblow and Grace Gunn Bland. On Aug. 21, 1955, she was died July 23, 2001.
Mrs. McGinnis was a member of United Pentecostal Church of Versailles. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Caviness, and her husband, Dorsey, of Versailles, and Ramona Brown, and her husband Charles, of Versailles; four sons, Phil McGinnis, and his wife, Jeanie, of Versailles, Till McGinnis, and his wife, Kim, of Fortuna, Dennis McGinnis, and his wife, Cindy, of Barnett, and Randy McGinnis, and his wife, Carol, of California; two brothers, T.W. Bland, of Independence, and Roger Bland, of Barnett; five sisters, Brooks Surritte, of Versailles, Nancy Jacobs and Nellie Turley, both of Kansas City, Alma Land, of Holts Summit, and Phyllis Shewmaker, of Gravois Mills; 15 grandchildren, Carol Coffin, Emily Reynolds, Ginger Craig, Jessica Sanders, Austin McGinnis, Tracy Cary, James Caviness, Kayla McGinnis, Tiffany Herrmeyer, Miranda Yoder, David McGinnis, Kasey McGinnis, Douglas McGinnis, Racheal Brown, and Joshua Brown; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by a son, Andy Gene McGinnis; a brother; two sisters; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Dan Sinclair officiating. Pallbearers will be Curtis Fare, Marty McGinnis, Kevin Bland, Matthew Bland, Gregory Bland and Nathan Cary. Burial will be in the Versailles died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at her home, north of California.
She was married to Phil Embree, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Embree was a computer programmer for the Office of State Courts' Administrator. She retired in February 2003. She operated a home-based stained glass art business. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California. She was a 1964 graduate of Cole Camp High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in education, with an emphasis in art education, from the University of Missouri.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Marshall, and her husband, Bob, of Jamestown, and Mary Embree, of Columbia; two brothers, John Meyer, of Mora, and Dennis Meyer, of Sedalia; and a grandson, Phillip Lee Marshall.
She was predeceased by an infant brother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California, with the Rev. Dr. Peter Kurowski officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Funeral Service in California, Mo.

Esther L. Barman, 1913-2006, Sedalia
Esther Lee McDonald Barman, 93, of Sedalia, born June 11, 1913, in Windsor, a daughter of Jesse Lee and Pearl Ellen Colbert McDonald. On Feb. 5, 1943, in Newport News, Va., she was died in 2002.
Mrs. Barman spent her childhood in Pleasant Hill. During the war, she worked at North American Credit Union. After the war, she was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sedalia. She was active in the Willing Workers Sunday School class, and she enjoyed her sewing circle for several years. She was also a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary for several years.
Surviving are a daughter, Julie Rehmer, and her husband, Robert, of Warsaw; a stepson, Jeff Rehmer, and his wife, Tenessa, of Gravois Mills; a brother, Ralph McDonald, of Lenexa, Kan.; a sister, Shirley Neely, of Pleasant Hill; a grandson, Mike McCutchin; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by three sisters and a brother. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill officiating. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
