Hazel L. Smith
Hazel Leona Smith, 95, of Sedalia, Missouri, born January 10, 1909, in Doniphan, Nebraska, daughter of Frank Benjamin and Stella Laurina Fry Bush.
On March 31, 1929, in Grand Island, Nebraska, she was died August 15, 1983.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Sedalia Seventh-day Adventist Church. She moved to Sedalia in 1995 from North Platte, Nebraska, where she lived for 26 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, James "Ray" Smith, Jr., of Honolulu, Hawaii, Donald Smith, of Challenge, California, and Dick Smith, of Minatare, Nebraska; two daughters, Dixie Lee Bradley, of Green River, Wyoming, and Grace Smith, of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Charles "Chuck" Smith; and a grandson, Cody Bradley.
Services will be held at a later date in North Platte, Nebraska.
Ethelene D. Smith
Ethelene D. Smith, 74, of Hemet, California, formerly of Sedalia, born August 29, 1930, in Sedalia, the only child of Harold V. and Eva M. Looney Owen. On September 23, 1951, in Sedalia, she was Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Mid-Missouri Humane Society, Children’s Therapy Center or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Charles W. Smith
Charles William (Charlie) Smith, 94, of Sedalia, born June 21, 1909, in Windsor, Missouri, son of Walter Levi and Sarah Margaret Gordon Smith. On October 16, 1929, in Sedalia, Missouri, he died May 23, 1996.
Mr. Smith was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, 50 year member of Granite Lodge #272 A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite Mason, 50 year member and Past Worthy Patron of Sedalia Chapter #57 Order of the Eastern Star, and 50 year member of the Ararat Shrine. He had worked for Union Pacific and Missouri Pacific Railroads, working as an Apprentice Instructor, Round House Foreman, Assistant Superintendent and later Superintendent of the Reclaim Department.
Survivors include a son, Charles R. Smith, of Sedalia; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a great great grandson. He was preceded in Cemetery, with the Rev. Frederick Zahn officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park died Sunday morning, January 23, 2005, at his home.
He was married Marilyn Kay Ashen Robinson, who survives of the home.
Mr. Smith was the owner of Plainsman Gun Shop for over twenty years. He was an avid motorcyclist from 1956 to 2004. He collected guns and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a former member of West Central Missouri Motorcycle Club.
Mr. Smith was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as a petty officer, second class. He was a 1954 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Smith, of the home; two sons, Richard V. Smith, of Lebanon, and David R. Smith, of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Sherrill R. Neilsen, of Boston, Mass., and Marcia L. Schneider, of St. Louis; two step sons, Les Robinson, Jr., of Sedalia, and Larry Robinson, of Boise, Id.; ten grandchildren and a great grandson.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at Memorial Park died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at her home.
She was married to Andrew Clay Smith, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Smith was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for several years. She enjoyed camping and was a member of the Good Samaritan’s Camping Club. She was currently serving as president of the local chapter and vice president of the Missouri chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers ladies auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, rummage sales, reading, fishing and going to the lake. She was supportive of Boy Scouts Troop 54 with her grandson.
She worked at Lamy Manufacturing for more than twenty years. She also worked at Kim Originals, Rival Manufacturing and the Sedalia Senior Center. She sold Avon for many years.
Her family lived in Warsaw and Windsor while she was growing up. They later moved to Sedalia, where she has resided until now.
Survivors include her husband, Andy Smith, of the home; two daughters, Carol Zagar, of Grandview, and Veronica Myers, of Sedalia; two grandsons, Bradley Myers, of the home, Aaron Zagar, of Grandview; three granddaughters, Michelle Maginness, of Gardner, Kan., Angela Portsche, of Spring Hill, Kan., and Liz Woodling, of Kansas City; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2005, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the East Sedalia Baptist Church building fund.
Vincent E. Siegel
Vincent Eugene Siegel, 60, of Sedalia, born August 20, 1943, in Sedalia, son of Logan and Clara Mabel Eicholz Siegel. On May 4, 1968, in Sedalia, he death by a daughter, Jayme A. Siegel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Vincent Hoying officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dale Montgomery, Robert Kueck, Brett Johnson, Don Zahringer, Jerry Laudenberger and Jim Roberts.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Sunday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday.
