Fern L. Hashagen, 1910-2005, Warsaw
Fern L. Hashagen, 94, of Warsaw, born Nov. 16, 1910, near Warsaw, a daughter of John Henry and Josephine C. Gilmore Hashagen.
Ms. Hashagen was a 1928 graduate of Cole Camp High School. She qualified for a second-grade certificate that allowed her to teach in Benton County rural schools. She graduated from Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg with a bachelor of science degree in Education and taught in Warsaw and Kansas City. She retired from the Kansas City School District after 45 years of teaching and returned to Warsaw.
She was a member of Warsaw First United Methodist Church and a member of the Missouri State Retired Teachers Association. She was fondly known by her students as Miss Fern.
Survivors include her sister, Myrtle Still, of Warsaw, and two nephews, Robert Hashagen, of Shawnee, Kan., and Phillip Hashagen, of Cary, N.C. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Mayme Barnett, a brother, Clarence Hashagen, and long time friend, Gene Wetzel.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, with the Rev. Diana Loomis officiating. Burial will be in Riverside died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at St.John's Regional Health Center in Springfield.
She was married to Chester Peyton Carson Sr., who Cemetery in Halltown.
Pallbearers will be Kit Carson, Jim Carson, Doug Carson, Jack Carson, Chris Carson, Jason Carson and Rowdy Carson. Honorary pallbearers will be Trey Goldsmith and Carson Goldsmith.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
George Harrison, 1917-2005, La Monte
George M. Harrison, 87, of La Monte, born Feb. 2, 1917, in La Monte, a son of Harry Leroy and Phoebe McGrady Harrison. On Jan. 11, 1941, in Sedalia, he was died July 8, 2003.
Mr. Harrison was a farmer, a truck driver and a member of the Teamster's Union.
Survivors include six sons, Richard Harrison, Gary Harrison, Bob Harrison and Harold Harrison, all of La Monte, Don Harrison, of Windsor, and John Harrison, of Sedalia; a daughter, Suellen Scott, of Sedalia; a brother, Jim Harrison, of Sedalia; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Moore Funeral Home in La Monte, with the Rev. Gene Smith officiating. Burial will be in La Monte died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was married to Johanna Buss. On July 16, 1966, in Blue Springs, he was died April 10, 1997.
Mr. Stach was a member of the Lutheran church. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Engineers Local 101.
Surviving are a son, Herbert E. Stach, of Green Ridge; two stepsons, Ronald Miles, of Omaha, Neb., and Hartmut Noernberg, of Odessa; a daughter, Giseal Crouch, of Sedalia; a stepdaughter, Pamela Leedy, of Jasper; a brother, Leo Stach, of Knob Noster; two sisters, Helen Holtcamp, of Warrensburg, and Jean Burrow, of Carl Junction; three grandchildren; six step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at La Monte cemetery.
Laura L. Anderson, 1913-2005, Oak Grove
Laura Leona Anderson, 91, of Oak Grove, formerly of Sedalia, born Dec. 10, 1913, in Benton County, a daughter of Clovis and Hattie Hollis Zumalt. On Nov. 5, 1929, in Clinton, she was died March 16, 1959.
Mrs. Anderson lived in the Longwood area until 1978. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Anderson, of Lee's Summit, Donald Anderson, of Sedalia, and Gary Anderson, of Oak Grove; five daughters, Lillie Hieronymous, of Marshall, Margaret Bishop, of Sedalia, Pauline Adams, of Joplin, Patricia Barklage, of Lee's Summit, and Mary Meek, of Otterville; 29 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in Cemetery. Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Dorothy M. Mihan, 1919-2004, Valley Park
The Rev. Dorothy M. Granaman Mihan, 85, of Valley Park, born Jan. 30, 1919, a daughter of William and Dessie Brown Granaman.
She was a minister who served at several churches, including the Church of God in Sedalia. She also worked at a nursing home in La Monte.
Surviving is a sister, Hazel Huff, of Affton.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Russell Wallace and Walter Mihan.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Kutis Affton Chapel in St. Louis.
