Elwanda D. Morgan, 1928-2004, Independence
Elwanda Day Morgan, 76, of Independence, formerly of Galt, born June 3, 1928, in Sharp County, Ark., a daughter of William Square and Ida Mae Goings Bettis. On June 26, 1943, in Marrianna, Ark., she was died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp.
She was married to Ralph Paul Schnakenberg, who Cemetery in Cole Camp. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp, with visitation to follow.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lutheran School Association, Trinity Missionary Society or Benton County Hospice in care of the funeral home.
Helen L. Woodruff, 1914-2004, Sedalia
Helen L. Woodruff, 90, of Sedalia, formerly of Richmond, born April 16, 1914, in Richmond, a daughter of R.B. and Maggie White Anderson.
Mrs. Woodruff was the city collector of Richmond for 25 years. She also worked at Carp's Department Store, Hallmark Cards, Jene B. Patton Ladies Wear and the Lake City Arsenal. She was a cook for Richmond public schools. She lived in Richmond most of her life. She moved to Sedalia eight years ago. She was a member of Richmond First Christian Church -- Disciples of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Sonny Woodruff, of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Judy Holman, of Sedalia; a brother, R.R. Anderson, of North Kansas City; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Christian-Presbyterian Church in Richmond. Burial will be in Sunny Slope died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was married to William A. Martin, who married to Mac Grogan, who died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was married to Patricia Hull, who survives of the home.
Mr. Heldstab lived most of his adult life in the Kansas City, Kan., area, where he was an over-the-road truck driver until 1976. At that time, he moved to Fredonia, Kan., where he was a Wilson County road grader. He moved to Lake of the Ozarks, before moving to Lincoln in 2003.
Also surviving are a son, Harley Heldstab Jr., of Versailles; four daughters, Gail Rose, of Lake of the Ozarks, Patty Galloway, of Stillwell, Kan., Sherry Wolf, of Kearney, and Monica Lambert, of Neodesha, Kan.; three stepsons, Billie Hull Jr., of Lake of the Ozarks, Frankie Hull, of Independence, Kan. and Matthew Hull, of Dallas; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Engebretsen of Warsaw and Tammy Spicer of Neodesha, Kansas; a sister, Lou Sadler, of Kansas City; eight grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a step great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Wayne Isgriggs officiating. Burial will be in Tolwood died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Versailles.
He was married to Rovenia Cole, who survives of the home.
Mr. Phillips was raised and educated in Big Stone Gap, Va. He was a graduate of Big Stone Gap High School. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a deputy sheriff for Pettis County. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and woodworking. He was Baptist and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591.
Surviving are a son, Derek Phillips, of Sedalia; a brother, Raymond Taylor Phillips, of Moncks Corner, S.C.; and a granddaughter.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Claude Allen Phillips, John Henry Phillips, Hesco Lewis Phillips, Walter Dahl Phillips and Sanford Hillary Phillips; and three sisters, Cynthia, Margie and Freddie.
Military services, conducted by VFW Post 2591, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with Allen Hawkins,VFW Chaplain, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Missouri Veterans died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was married to Dr. Kenneth L. Holdren, who Cemetery in Kansas City. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at Heckart/Gillespie Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday.
