Clyde Wesley Luck
Clyde Wesley Luck was born Thursday, May 12, 1910, in Crawford County, Mo., a son of the late Thomas Edward Luck and Mattie Ora Luck (nee Halbert).
He entered eternal rest Friday, February 2, 2001, at his home near Steelville, Mo., at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 21 days.
On January 6, 1937, in Steelville, Mo., Clyde was united in marriage to Jewell Ware. Three sons were born to this union. Clyde and Jewell enjoyed over sixty-three years together.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas C. Luck and Johnnie R. Luck and one sister, Hazel Harmon.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Jewell Luck, of Steelville, Mo.; three sons, Darrell Luck of Steelville, Mo., Leroy Luck and wife Patricia of High Ridge, Mo., and Tom Luck and wife Bettty of Daytona Beach, Florida.
Four sisters, Pearl Woods of Steelville, Mo., Ada Schwent and husband John of Cuba, Mo., Daphna Ramori and husband Domenic of Cuba, Mo., and Mary Gregory of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Clyde was a brother, but more than just a brother. He was a father that was more than just a father. He loved his family as much as they loved and respected him.
He was a friend who was always there when needed, no matter what the circumstances. Regardless of the job that needed to be done, he was always there without having to be asked. With his quiet manner he could lead through any job that needed to be done, but never had to say more than a dozen words.
He loved being outdoors, either fishing or hunting, and was always ready to take one more little circle looking for that last squirrel, or as his boys would say, sometimes the first one, even if it was five miles back to the car. They would walk it with him all the way.
Then one evening just at sunset he slipped away just as quietly as he had lived. Dear husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Brother, we wish you a happy journey.
Clyde Wesley Luck lay in state 3-6 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2001, at the Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2001 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Pallbearers were Benny Gregory, Harvey Luck, Keith Luck, Bob Richardson, Paul Schwent and Tom Woods.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Martha Jane Pyatt
Martha Jane Pyatt nee Harris was born Friday, September 4, 1908, at Cherryville, Mo., a daughter of the late John Thomas Harris and Vianna Harris (nee Tinker). She entered eternal rest Sunday, February 4, 2001, in the Crawford County Health Care, Cuba, Mo. at the age of 92 years and 5 months.
She was united in marriage to William Otto Pyatt. Five sons and three daughters were born to this union. William preceded her in death as did one son, Troy William Pyatt; one grandson, Steve Anderson; and one son-in-law, Harold Cooper; one brother, Willie Harris; and two sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Lillie Seward.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are four sons and three daughters, Marie Cooper of South Roxana, Illinois, Erma and husband Ray Anderson of Chandler, Oklahoma, Leo Pyatt and wife Geneva of Bourbon, Mo., Claud Pyatt and wife Mary of Cuba, Mo., Ken Pyatt and wife Helen of Owensville, Mo., Mary and husband Lester McBenge of Steelville, Mo., and Garland Pyatt of Cuba, Mo.
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Noah and Juanita Pyatt of Cherryville, Mo., Nellie and Homer Galt of California; twenty-four grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She lived her entire life in the Crawford County area. She attended the Center Ridge Church and enjoyed going to church and living for God. She lived her flowers and in her earlier years she enjoyed making quilts. She also loved reading her Bible and talking to her friend, Jesus. God was her strength. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Martha Jane Pyatt lay in state 3-9 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2001, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church, Cherryville, Mo. with Pastor Harrison Brown officiating and Rev. Bob Coleman assisting. Musical selections were provided by vocalist Carol and Bob Coleman and pianist Shirley Brown.
Committal prayers and interment were in Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Mo. Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers were Gary Anderson, Dennis Cooper, Roy Cooper, Michael Koprivica, Randy Pyatt and Rick Pyatt.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Reba Marie Rocklage
Reba Marie Rocklage of Warrenton, Mo., formerly of Cuba, Mo., was born on May 27, 1915 in Cook Station, Mo. to the union of Charles E. Reeves and Sylvia A. Reeves nee Dunlap and passed away on February 2, 2001 at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 5 days.
On July 30, 1938 Marie was united in marriage to Elmer W. Rocklage in St. Louis, Mo. Two daughters Bonnie Jean and Nancy Marie were born to this union. Marie and Elmer were happily married for sixty-two years.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving husband Elmer Rocklage, her two daughters Bonnie Hinds, and Nancy Jessee; five grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two brothers and one sister; other relatives and many friends.
Marie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, good friend to all that knew her and will be sadly missed.
Reba Marie Rocklage was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. on Monday, February 5, 2001. Memorial Services were held on Sunday, February 11, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Hope Bible Church in O'Fallon, Mo. Memorials may be given to the Child Evangelist Fellowship, P.O. Box 348, Warrenton, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo.

Custer R. Walters
Custer R. Walters of Cuba, Mo. was born on July 23, 1924 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the union of Harrison Walters and Irene May Walters nee Garriet and passed away on February 6, 2001 at his home at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 13 days.
Custer was united in marriage to Nadine Blanton on March 17, 1947 in Illinois. Three sons, Fredrick, Thomas and Robert; one daughter, Marilyn Sue, were born to this union.
Custer was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter Marilyn Sue Weston; son, Robert Daniel Walters.
He served in the United States Army from 1943 and until 1945. He received the Bronze Star Medal, four Bronze Service Stars, a Distinguished Unit Emblem, a Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart. Custer was also a life time member of the American Legion and a member of the VFW Post 7147.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving wife Nadine Walters; Fredrick and wife Judy Walters; Thomas Walters; one son-in-law John Weston; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Custer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, good friend to all that knew him and will be sadly missed.
Custer R. Walters was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Friday, February 9, 2001 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Leroy Nixon officiating. Interment was in the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Mo. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

Samuel James Wilson
Samuel James Wilson of Cuba, Mo. was born on December 10, 1910 in Cuba, Mo., to the union of Samuel Moore Wilson and Sarah Margaret Wilson nee Glassey and passed away on February 4, 2001 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Mo. at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 24 days.
Samuel was united in marriage to Juanita Westing in Steelville, Mo. One son, Robert and one daughter Shirley were born to this union. They had been happily married for 54 years until her death on July 11, 1993.
Samuel was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Charlie, George, Frank, Harry and Walter; three half brothers, James, William and Arthur; three half sisters, Edith, Edna, Lily.
He was born and raised in Cuba, and was a life long farmer.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his son Robert N. Wilson and wife Debbie; daughter Shirley Krueger and husband Myron; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Samuel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, good friend to all that knew him and will be sadly missed.
Samuel James Wilson was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Chuck Likely officiating. Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

James Leroy Willemsen
James Leroy Willemsen, 84, passed away February 9, 2001, in Thousand Oaks, California.
James was born in Cuba, Mo. to Catherine and Theo. Willemsen on June 5, 1916.
In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served three years.
James moved to California in 1946. He was a union carpenter, and worked in Inglewood and Los Angeles area, until 1976, when he retired and moved to Thousand Oaks.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy.

Nugent E. Walker
Nugent Earl Walker was born Saturday, December 4, 1920 at Neely's Landing, Mo. to Irvin L. Walker and Barbara C. Craft Walker, and passed away Friday, March 9, 2001 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 5 days.
Nugent's family resided in Neely's Landing, Mo. where he made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as a young child. He graduated from High School in Jackson, Mo. in 1940.
On April 3, 1946 he married Thelma McClearn in St. Louis, Mo., and to this union two children were born.
Nugent was employed at Buckeye Die Tool Company before entering the United States Army on April 19, 1946 where he achieved the rank of T-4 Sergeant while serving with the 724th Ordnance Maintenance Co. in Kyushu, Japan after World War II. Nugent was honorably discharged on October 23, 1947.
Nugent and Thelma made their home in Florissant, Mo. and were members of Layfayette Park Baptist Church. He was a machinist for 29 years at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Mo. and was a member of the International Association of Machinists Aerospace Machinists District #837. In 1988 they moved to their home near Leasburg, Mo. For hobbies, Nugent enjoyed working on cars and gardening.
Nugent was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Chester Walker and one sister Mary Stueve.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his dear wife Thelma of Leasburg, Mo.; his son Dennis Walker and wife Julie of Charlotte, North Carolina; his daughter Barbara Jo Liesmann and husband Darryl of Leasburg, Mo.; one brother Cletus Walker of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister Helen Sides of Independence, Mo.; brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Emma McClearn, Norma and Walter ("Dub") Lowe, Pat and Gene Sauerhage, Hettye Lee and Joe Burgess, Jimmie and Mary McClearn, Bruce McClearn and Homer Moreland.
Visitation was held Monday, March 12, 2001 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Mo.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at the Hutson Funeral Chapel in Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Jim Bruns officiating.
Pallbearers were Mike Walker, Chris Lisk, Dennis Walker, Darryl Liesmann, Nick Nichols, and Scott Simonson.
Burial was in Meramec Hills Memorial Lawn in Cuba, Mo.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo.

Goldie Elsie Wood
Goldie Elsie Wood nee Gregory was born Thursday, February 11, 1915, in Steelville, Mo., a daughter of the late William Claude Gregory and Nellie Jane Gregory (nee Brown).
She entered eternal rest Sunday, March 11, 2001, at the Cuba Manor, Cuba, Mo., at the age of 86 years and 1 month.
On November 12, 1934, at St. Charles, Mo., Goldie was united in marriage to Elmer Lawrence Wood. Two sons and two daughters were born to this union. Elmer preceded Goldie in death, July 31, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son and an infant daughter; four sisters, Bessie and husband Raymond Farrar, Pearl and husband Virgil Woods, Hallie and husband Orville Brown, and Alline Elliott; and three brothers, Jesse Gregory and wife Lottie, Claude Gregory, and James Gregory and brother-in-law Glen Stough.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving son Bill Wood and wife Karen of Maplewood, Mo.; her devoted daughter, Marie Randolph of Cuba, Mo., and friend Jack Whaley of Steelville, Mo.; two sisters, Ruby and husband Harry Vogel of St. Louis, Mo., Mamie Stough of Overland, Mo.
Seven grandchildren, Sherri Wood, Diane Martin, Amy Wood, Michele Dickens, Joseph Melvin, Gina Fellenz and Krystle Whaley; five great-grandchildren, David Barron, Nichole Bray, Brittany Hardhill, Briana Helms and Samantha Martin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Goldie Elsie Wood lay in state 5 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in the Britton Chapel with her sister Mamie Stough officiating. The eulogy was given by a granddaughter Sherri Wood. Musical selections were also provided by granddaughter, Amy Wood.
Committal prayers and interment were in Brown Cemetery, East Highway 8, Steelville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Lathan Gregory, Tom Gregory, Wayne Gregory, Henry Isgriggs, Alan Tanner and Jack Whaley.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Lois Fern Barker
Lois Fern Barker (nee Cremer) was born Thursday, January 7, 1928, at Winchester, Illinois, a daughter of the late Hollie and Elsie (Rackerd) Cremer and entered eternal life Sunday, July 22, 2001 at the Stonecrest Healthcare, Inc. Viburnum, Missouri at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 8 days.
Lois was a registered nurse and worked in nursing homes. She was united in marriage to Allen Grant Barker. Three sons and three daughters were born to this union. Allen preceded her in death as did one sister Edna Cremer.
Among those who remain to mourn her death are her children, Dorothy and husband Kenneth Ware of Davisville, Missouri, Carol and husband Dewaynne Throgmorton, Linda and husband Carl Smith, Glen Barker and wife Donna, Roy Barker and Del Barker all of Decatur, Illinois.
One brother and sister-in-law Russell and Bernice Cremer of Pana, Illinois and one sister, Vera and Tony Singleton of Decatur, Illinois; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2001, at the Lighthouse Gospel Tabernacle, Viburnum, Missouri with visitation from 9 a.m. Saturday and Rev. Sharon Hedrick officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
