Missouri, U.S., Marriage Records, 1805-2002Doris McMillen Thompson Sinden
Doris McMillen Thompson Sinden, 69, of Eldon died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at her eldest daughter's home in Springfield.
Mrs. Sinden was diagnosed with terminal cancer in June 2000 and lived these past months giving and sharing love with her family and friends.
She was determined to have her family in her home for Christmas, and seeing this come to be, relished in the joy, love and kindness which was expressed.
She was born May 27, 1931, in St. Louis and moved with her family to the Eldon area in 1935.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Ronald W. Thompson.
Mrs. Sinden is survived by her husband, W. Roy Sinden of Eldon; her 89-year-old mother, Velma McMillen of Eldon; two daughters and one son and spouses, Beverly and William Rohlf of Springfield, Barbara (Trolinger) and Terry Tevlin of Arnold and Brian and Gayle Thompson of Eldon.
Mrs. Sinden's grandchildren remember her active life, easy laugh and good food.
They are Erica Heinlein and her husband Matthew Schweizer of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Zachary Thompson, and Nathan, Amanda and Gary Trolinger.
Great-grandchildren are Troy, Alexis and Summer Smith (Rohlf).

Doris' family marvels at her industrious and resourceful life.
She worked to build two large poultry and cattle operations.
In between these farming ventures, she obtained her real estate and cosmetology licenses, and for a few years was co-owner of Looking Good Beauty Salon in Jefferson City.
Doris retired about three years ago, selling her 350-acre farm and turkey operation.
Working with Honeysuckle White, Doris would receive shipments of 19,000 baby turkeys at a time, sometimes having a total of 38,000 by growing half as infant birds in one building and the other half in a different building at eight through 16 weeks.
It seems just months ago she was still jumping out of truck beds and over barbed-wire fences, washing 300 turkey waterers in a given morning while setting up the hot rolls to rise for dinner.
It should be remembered that Doris was a Christian and modeled a selfless, forgiving and non-judging character for her children.
Doris was an accomplished seamstress until becoming blind in one eye.
She loved family get-togethers and telephone calls with her children.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon.
