Louise B. Riley, 71, Gentry, Ark., died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark.
She was born Nov. 7, 1929, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Claude Decker and Orphia Marriott Decker.
Mrs. Riley was a retail salesperson for Wal-Mart and Decatur Discount, as well as a homemaker. She had been a resident of the Springtown-Gentry area since 1946. Mrs. Riley was a member of Gentry Garden Club and the Springtown E.H. Garden Club. She was also a member of the West Siloam Springs Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, Erwin Otto Riley, of the home; two sons, Alan Riley, Gentry, Ark; David Riley, Colcord, Okla.; three daughters, Gwen Powell, Gentry, Ark.; Nila Sams, Sandusky, Okla.; Carolyn Butts, West Siloam Springs, Okla.; two brothers, Bill Decker and Rex Decker, both of Versailles; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Jean Dietzel; two brothers, Bob and Harold Decker; and one grandson, Larry David Riley, Jr.
A visitation was held Monday, Jan. 29 at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Ark. Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Assembly of God Church in West Siloam Springs, Okla. with the Rev. John Butts and the Rev. Dennis Jech officiating. Burial followed in Springtown Cemetery in Springtown, Ark., with services under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.
Archie Benson Warren
The Rev. Archie Benson Warren, 74, Columbia, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001 at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Newton County, Joplin, the son of Archie Lee and Nellie Dall Warren. On June 6, 1946, in Joplin, he married Doris Jean Hogan, who survives of the home.
The Rev. Warren served in the US Army 8th Cavalry Unit in the Pacific area in World War II. He graduated from Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Ouachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, Ark., and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas. He pastored church in Texas, Arkansas and Missouri for 53 years. He served on the Missouri Baptist Executive and Missouri Baptist Children's Home boards. He was director of missions for the Little Bonne Femme Baptist Association in Boone County for 10 years, retiring in 1991.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Ruth Besancenez, Camdenton, Susan Elizabeth Imboden, Johnson City, Tenn., and Martha Carol Lindsay, Gastonia, N.C.; three sons, David Glenn Warren, Kansas City, Stephen Lynn Warren, Camdenton, and Timothy Duane Warren, Old Hickery, Tenn.; two sisters, Dorothy Craven, Monrovia, Calif., and Frances Roberts, Monrovia, Calif..; one brother, Bill Warren, Corona, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Harold Warren.
Services were Friday, Feb. 2 at the Parkade Baptist Church, with the Rev. William Watts, Jack Coleman and David Goode. Interment was in the Ozark Memorial Park, Joplin. Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, Bridgeton, Parkade Baptist Church (Music Ministry), Columbia, or Open Heart Baptist Church, Columbia.
Eleonore "Nora" Fischer
Eleonore "Nora" Fischer, 89, lifelong resident of Stover, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at her home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1912, at Stover, the daughter of the late Fred Wilhelm and Anna Alpers Brandt. She was baptized Feb. 4, 1912, by Pastor Koch, and confirmed March 28, 1926, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover by Pastor Lehr. The confirmation verse that was chosen was Isaiah 54:10, "For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee."
She married Emil Fischer on Nov. 29, 1931, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1991.
She was homemaker, busy raising her family and helping her husband on their farm, a lifelong, active, and faithful member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where where she belonged to the St. Paul's Senior Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed spending time with the family and friends, and quilting.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-laws, Ruth and Virgil Brunkhorst of Alma; Marietta and Ormond Hinck of Stover, and Wanda and Roland Kerksiek of Cole Camp; 11 grandchildren, Carol Kalkwarf, Darren Fischer, Janice Kirchhoff, Kevin Brunkhorst, Diane Hinck, Alan Hinck, Emily Pritchard, Joel Hinck, Gail Hinck, Tim Kerksiek, and Nancy Theisen, 13 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Nora was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Fischer, a daughter, Lorraine Fischer, one brother, George Brandt, three sisters, Lena Karmen, Elizabeth Witte, and Elda Eckhoff, and one granddaughter, Holly Fischer.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover with the Rev. Cecil Murdock officiating. Galen Oehrke accompanied the congregation as they sang, "Jerusalem, Thou City Fair and High," "For Me to Live is Jesus," and "Life High the Cross." Interment was in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Stover with Darren Fischer, Kevin Brunkhorst, Alan Hinck, Joel Hinck, Tim Kerksiek, and Mark Kirchhoff serving as casketbearers.
Memorial contributions were suggested to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the St. Paul's Lutheran School. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
Marilynn T. Graham
Marilynn T. Graham, 68, Syracuse, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia.
She was born July 28, 1932, at St. Louis, the daughter of William and Marie McLaughlin Porter. On Oct. 17, 1953, at St. Louis, she married Don J. Graham, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Graham lived in the St. Louis area for several years and in the Syracuse area for the past 13 years. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in St. Louis. She was a Catholic and formerly attended St. Andrew's Church, Tipton, and more recently St. Philip Benizi Church, Versailles. She loved crossword puzzles and playing with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Tom Graham, Wichita, Kan.; three daughters; Mary Kiesling, Columbia, Susan Woehrman, Kansas City, and Marilyn Mayberry, Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Joan Weimer, Baldwin; one brother, Don Porter, Rancho Murieta, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters; Donna Wortman and Eileen Mathews; and one sister, Donna.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7 at the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, Versailles.
Memorials are suggested to the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Louis.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton.
Rick Hasselbring
Rick Hasselbring, 47, Sunrise Beach, Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born July 11, 1953, in Melrose Park, Ill., the son of Kenneth Robert and Nell A. Ambrose Hasselbring.
On March 18, 2000, he married Carol A. McCartney Girardin.
Mr. Hasselbring was a 1971 graduate of Camdenton High School and owned and operated Deer Valley Park near Sunrise Beach. He was a musician, enjoyed billiards, animals, fishing and especially riding and working on his motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Hasselbring, of the home; one son, Dustin Hasselbring, Sunrise Beach; one daughter, Kelly Hasselbring and her finance, Mark Parker, Colorado Springs, Colo.; his mother, Nell A. Hasselbring, Sunrise Beach; two stepsons, Steven Kearns and wife, Barb, Milton, Iowa, and Kevin Kearns and wife, Keri, Wyaconda; a stepdaughter, Marcia Schubert and husband, Henry, Lancaster; eight step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Hasselbring.
Memorial services were Saturday, March 24 at West Lake Christian Church in Laurie, with the Rev. Ron Roberts officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
Robert (Bob) Burris
Robert (Bob) Burris, 82, Versailles, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.
Martha A. Deuser
Martha A. Deuser, 77, Newton, Kan., died Monday, March 26, 2001, at her home. She was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Muskagee, Okla., the daughter of Granuel R. and Christine C. (Ayers) Hairston.
On Nov. 6, 1945, at Olathe, Kan., she married Howard Russell Deuser, who preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1993.
Mrs. Deuser was a homemaker and had worked for the City of Wichita Police Department and Southwestern Bell. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and enjoyed gardening, reading, and animals.
She had four daughters, Teresa Woods, Enid, Okla., Linda Sparrer, Wichita, Kan., Rebecca Deuser, Wichita, Kan., Barbara Morgan, Germantown Tenn.; one brother, David Hairston, Copan Okla.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Granuel R. and Christine C. Hairston and a brother Phillip Ayers Hairston.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, (Thursday) March 29 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton, Kan., with the Rev. Ken Schuckman officiating. Burial will be in the Green wood Cemetery, Newton, Kan.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army, Catholic Services or Caring Hands Humane Society.
Gladys B. Wright
Gladys B. Wright, 81, of St. Peters died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at her home.
She was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Miller County to Everett A. and Bertha B. Condra. She was married to Gerald V. Wright, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wright retired from the Francis Howell School District in St. Charles after 29 years of teaching. She was a member of the Daniel Boone Garden Club of Defiance, the Harvester Christian Church and the church's Bible study group and food pantry.
Surviving her are a daughter, Jerrilynn Bergfeld of Wentzville; a son, L. A. Wright of Fulton, Ark.; a sister, Phyllis A. Tussey of Eldon; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Harvester Christian Church in St. Charles. Burial was in the Tuscumbia Cemetery under the direction of Baue Funeral Home of St. Charles.
