Carrie Isabel Kerley
Carrie Isabel Kerley, 88, Jonesboro, Ark., died Saturday at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Bakersfield, Mo., Mrs. Kerley lived much of her life in the Bakersfield area before moving to Jonesboro 15 years ago.
She was an elementary school teacher for several years and taught in Viola, Mammoth Spring and Bakersfield.
Mrs. Kerley was a graduate of Drury College in Springfield and a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eliga Johnson; her second husband, Clovis Kerley; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Johnson; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, J.R. and Tronnia Johnson of Jonesboro; two grandsons and their wives, Robbie and Stacey Johnson of Jonesboro, and Kyle and Caron Johnson of Nashville, Tenn.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at County Line Cemetery north of Viola, with Rev. Mike Martin officiating.
Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.

Helen Birkestrand left this earth Oct. 15, 2007, in Reno, Nev.
She entered this life Dec. 4, 1941, born to Emery and Irene Johnston Cook at West Plains.
She had lived in West Plains the last six years and had moved back to Reno to be close to her children and grandchildren in June 2007.
She is survived by David Birkestrand of the home; son, David Birkestrand Jr. and wife, Teresita; daughters, Kim Berg and husband, Gordy, and Ann Novello; five grandchildren; three sisters, Billie Houser, Overland Park, Kan., Marie Eddy, Reno, Nev., Lois London, West Plains, Mo.
She was preceded in death by one sister, “Susie” Alice Cook; her parents; and grandparents.

George Allen Wells
Funeral services for George Allen Wells, 86, West Plains, Mo., will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Faith Assembly of God Church under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Wells died 11:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in Brooke Haven Healthcare.
He was born March 9, 1921, in Halliday, N.D., to George and Beulah Murray Wells.
On June 25, 1965, Mr. Wells was married at Carson City, Nev., to Ruth Haney.
He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Before his retirement, Mr. Wells was a truck driver for Richard Fusclin Trucking for 25 years. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Wells, of the family home; two daughters, Pamela Dattilo, husband, Charles, West Plains, and Ann Townley, San Jose, Calif.; four grandchildren, Donna Uveda, husband, Tony, and Larry McCullan, West Plains, Teresa Rjoas, husband, Abel, and Tammy Parker, husband, Marshal, San Jose, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Christopher, Monequ, Andres, Ashley, Alec and Alysa; one brother, Don Wells, wife, Loraine; one sister, Lucille Goodman; sister-in-law, Beulah Shrum; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; and two brothers, Everett and Charles Wells, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral services for Edna House, 85, Caulfield, Mo., will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Elijah Church of Christ, with Minister Vic Williams officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
She was born the daughter of the late William Bowen and Hattie Bell Bowen on Dec. 23, 1921, in Elijah, Mo., and died Dec. 12, 2007, in Caulfield, Mo.
She was united in marriage Aug. 6, 1942, in Salem, Ark., to Joseph Ray House, who preceded her in death July 6, 1984.
She is survived by three children, Mike House, wife, Linda, Caulfield, Mo., Wanda McCulloch, Caulfield, Mo., and Bonnie House, Caulfield, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Leona Bowen and Lida Bowen; one grandson, Jason House, wife, Bobbi, Caulfield, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Baley and Jaidyn House; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ray House; her parents, William Bowen and Hattie Bell Bowen; one son-in-law, Larry McCulloch; and several brothers and sisters.
She was a longtime member of Elijah Church of Christ, Elijah, Mo. She graduated from Bakersfield High School with the class of 1942. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation and can be left at the funeral home.
Family visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

Orval L. Mahan
Funeral services for Orval L. Mahan, 89, West Plains, Mo., will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Mahan died 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Brooke Haven Healthcare.
He was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Howell County, Mo., to Everett Lee and Edith Cleveland Mahan.
On July 21, 1940, he was married at Salem, Ark., to Bethel Irene Hardin, who preceded him in death Feb. 11, 1994, after 53 years of marriage.
Mr. Mahan was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and on Okinawa received the Purple Heart.
He had been employed at Mahan’s Tire Shop, Meeks and Herrman Lumber Company, and before his retirement worked at Marathon.
Mr. Mahan loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by two children, David Mahan, wife, Mary, Moody, Mo., and Janice Botzenhart, husband, George, Dunnellon, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Smith, West Plains; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; wife; and two brothers, John Burl and Wendall Mahan, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Harold Ned Williams
Visitation for Harold Ned Williams, 75, Udall, Mo., will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams died 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, in Tecumseh, Mo.
He was born April 3, 1932, in Oklahoma, to Fred B. and Minnie Dawson Williams.
In November of 1952, he was married at West Plains, Mo., to Norma Wood.
Mr. Williams was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army, and before his retirement was employed as a painter with S.E.I.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by two sons, Danny Williams, Tecumseh, Mo., and Doug Williams, wife, Gayla, West Plains; five grandchildren, Ashley Harrison, Kellie Bodeker, Danielle Williams, Steven Brown and Christopher Williams; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jackie Williams, West Plains; one sister, Peggy DeShazo, Moody, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; wife; one granddaughter, Christina Williams; one brother, Leon Williams; and one sister, Betty Gilbert, preceded him in death.
