Edith Laverne Law, 88, of Iberia died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital in Osage Beach.
She was born Sept. 9, 1910, in Iberia to Julius and Lucy Roberts Keeth. On Feb. 10, 1931, she was married in Belle to Robert A. Law, who died May 8, 1990.
Mrs. Law was a member of the Iberia First Christian Church. She also was a member of the Iberia Garden Club and the Iberia First Christian Church Loyal Ladies. She had a 50-year working affiliation with Phillips Petroleum Company.
Surviving her are a son, Gary Law of Iberia; two brothers, Eugene Keeth and G. R. Keeth, both of Iberia; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by two infant children, Donald Law and Roberta Law.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Iberia First Christian Church with the Rev. Stan Way officiating. Burial was in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.
Memorials may be made to the Iberia First Christian Church.
Virginia L. Leutzinger
Virginia L. Leutzinger, 70, of Linn Creek died Wednesday Feb. 3, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital in Osage Beach.
She was born June 28, 1928, in Bruce, Miss., to Ray R. and Bertha Ann Ussery Cowan. On Aug. 13, 1949, she was married in Crystal City to Walter Leutzinger, who survives at the home.
Mrs. Leutzinger was an accountant most of her life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Alan R. Leutzinger of Fenton, David J. Leutzinger of Barnhart and Michael W. Leutzinger of Hermann; a daughter, Susan T. Urton of Tuscumbia; and a sister, Doris Hubbard of Desoto.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. at Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Osage Beach. Arrangements were under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home of Osage Beach.
Guy Helton
Guy Helton, 89, of Crocker died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital in Osage Beach.
He was born Feb. 26, 1909, to Fred and Mary Fritchey Helton. On Dec. 13, 1928, he was married in Maries County to Lena Vernetta Barnett, who survives at the home.
Mr. Helton was a member of the Crocker Church of Christ.
Also surviving him are a son, J. D. Helton of Crocker; a daughter, Elsie Whittle of Crocker; a sister, Zella Humphrey of Iberia; a brother, Wroe Helton of Waynesville; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Virgil Helton, Alfred Helton and Gerald Helton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Jim Meredith officiating. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery near Crocker.
James E. Fendorf
Retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander James E. Fendorf died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, of cancer at Dwight David Eisenhower Veterans Administration Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kan.
He was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Jefferson City to Frank and Icie Mayfield Fendorf.
He attended a one-room schoolhouse in the Ozarks and later graduated from Stanford University and attended U.S. Navy post graduate school in Monterey, Calif. He was a Navy pilot with 10,000 hours flight time, primarily with the Pacific Fleet. He was among the first pilots to fly into Korea when the war started in 1950, and participated in most of the major actions, including the Pusan Perimeter, the Inchon Invasion and the race to the Yalu River border between North Korea and Manchuria. Among his last flights were the evacuation of Marines and soldiers from the Chosin Reservoir through the post of Hungnam.
Lt. Commander Fendorf flew a total of 49 missions over Korea. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with four stars and the Presidential Unit Citation.
In connection with his Navy duties, he flew throughout the world, including support for the Dominican Republic Action in 1965. He also participated in several support flights in and out of Vietnam during 1965, 1966 and 1967, during which he flew C130 assault aircraft. He also participated in two tours in Antarctica in 1964 and 1965, flying ski-equipped C130 aircraft. For this, he was recognized by having a glacier (Fendorf Glacier) in Queen Maude Land named after him.
After he retired from the Navy, Lt. Commander Fendorf worked as an investigator and assistant district director for the National Association of Securities Dealers. He retired in 1987 after 18 years.
Surviving him are his wife of 39 years, Gloria Yvonne; three daughters, Lisa Hoefgen of Bedford, Texas, Geri Urban of Leavenworth and Cherre Miller of Weston; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Frank Fendorf of Overland Park, Kan., and Dr. Kenneth M. Fendorf of Aptos Beach, Calif; two sisters, Carolyn M. Fendorf of Lenexa, Kan., and Marilyn Gunderman of Overland Park, Kan.
Cremation at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth was followed by a private burial ceremony at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to the St. Paul Episcopal Church Choir in Leavenworth or the church of their choice.
Eunice Ann McClure Seek
Eunice Ann McClure Seek, 76, of Eldon died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
She was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Sedalia to Lester H. and Elsie Lee Perdue McClure. On Aug. 1, 1945, she was married in Kansas City, Kan., to Billy E. Seek, who died June 22, 1968.
Mrs. Seek attended the Methodist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Albin of Boonville and Lauren Fox of Bowling Green , Ky.; four sons, Billy M. Seek of Festus, Robert J. Seek of Eldon, Dr. Melvin M. Seek of Ocala, Fla., and Kenneth G. Seek of Boneville, Ga.; two brothers, Jerry McClure of Boonville and Lee McClure of Waynesboro, Va.; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Keeley.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Eldon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Smith officiating. Burial was in Syracuse Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon.
Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Majorie A. Plemmons
Marjorie A. Plemmons, 69, of Iberia died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
She was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Brumley to Perry Everett Sr. and Edith Lee Pemberton Graham. On Dec. 8, 1945, she was married in Olathe, Kan., to Wilbert Plemmons, who died Aug. 2, 1992.
Mrs. Plemmons was a member of the Brumley Baptist Church and American Legion Post 105 Ladies Auxiliary. She was active in work of the Iberia Friendship Hall.
Surviving are four sons, Richard Plemmons of Arnold and Wilbert G. Plemmons, Phillip Plemmons and James Plemmons, all of Iberia; four daughters, Sue Fancher and Patty Keeth, both of Iberia, Luan Whittle of Brumley and Pennie Plemmons of Tuscumbia; a brother, Perry Everett Graham Jr. of Kaiser; a sister, Lucille Irene Karigan of Sedalia; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
One son, Michael L. Plemmons, died April 17, 1996.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. The Rev. Lee Todd officiated and burial was in Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
Lena Helton
Lena Helton, 87, of Crocker died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Osage Beach Healthcare Center in Osage Beach.
She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Maries County to James and Dora Martin Barnett. On Dec. 13, 1928, she was married in Maries County to Guy Helton, who died Feb. 4, 1999.
Mrs. Helton was a member of the Crocker Church of Christ. She was a lifelong resident of Pulaski County.
Surviving are a son, J. D. Helton of Crocker; a daughter, Elsie Whittle of Crocker; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were three sons: Virgil Helton, Alfred Helton and Gerald Helton.
