Ilene Anderson, 71, Sunrise Beach, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 2, 1999, at Lake Ozark General Hospital in Osage Beach.
She was born March 1, 1928, in Morgan County, the daughter of Thomas W. and Thelma June Avery Hill.
On May 8, 1948, she married Roy P. Anderson, who preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1997.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and member of the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Anderson and family, Versailles, and Stephen Anderson and family, Sunrise Beach; three sisters, Della Anderson and Joann Collins, both of Laurie, and Barbara Wilken, Sedalia; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, John F. Hill; and two sisters, Mary Lee Crabtree and Wilma Kathleen "Kay" Green ley.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 5 at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie, with the Rev. James Lawley officiating.
Dr. Henry Petry sang "Mansion Over The Hilltop," accompanied at the organ by Nelda Ronnekamp.
Interment was in the Ozark Chapel Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Alan Comer, Bobby Williams, Chris Butts, Adam Anderson, Nick Anderson and Doug Anderson.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church Music Department.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
Earl James Whittle
Earl James Whittle, 93, Versailles, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 2, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
He was born Sept. 13, 1906, in Morgan County, the son of John L. and Mollie Aust Whittle.
On Dec. 12, 1931, in Morgan County, he married Crace O. Caviness, who preceded him in death on July 17, 1989.
Mr. Whittle was retired from Primo Pants Factory in Versailles.
He is survived by two sons, Johnny Whittle, Greenville, Miss., and Earl Whittle Jr., Clearwater, Fla; three daughters, Velma Wolf, Independence, and Shirley Marriott and Carol Helton, both of Versailles; three sisters, Marie Cornett and Myrtle Garrison, both of Versailles, and Minnie Limke, Kansas City; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters and one grandson.
Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 4 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with the Rev. William Johnson officiating.
Recordings of "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were played.
Grandsons served as casketbearers, with interment in the Versailles Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
Robert Wesley Edwards
Robert Wesley Edwards, former resident of Morgan County, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at the home of his son in Shawnee, Kan.
He was born June 30, 1925, in Nelson, the son of the late Robert Solon (Pud) Edwards and Virginia Jane (Horner) Edwards.
Mr. Edwards attended school in Nelson through the fifth grade.
He completed his public school education in Marshall, graduating in May 1943.
He entered the Navy on Aug. 13, 1943, where he served in the Navy Air Corps until his discharge April 2, 1946.
On June 1, 1946, he married Wanda Marie Welch of Marshall, and she survives of the home.
On Sept. 1, 1946, he entered Missouri Valley College, where he remained until May of 1948, when he transferred to Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy at Rolla to receive a bachelor's degree in civil engineering on July 20, 1950.
While in college at Rolla, he joined the Army Reserve.
After graduation, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers.
At retirement, he was a lieutenant colonel and had served a grand total of 41 years, 10 months and 17 days.
After graduation from college, he worked four years for the Missouri State Highway Department in the construction division before moving to the Corps of Engineers office in Kansas City.
He was with the Corp for 27 years prior to retirement.
His last position was at Truman Dam during the construction completion phase.
He retire Dec. 28, 1981, from engineering practice.
He was a Methodist, a Boy Scout leader for many years and a warrior in the tribe of Mic-O-Say.
He also was a member in the Retired Officers Association and the National Civil Engineering Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert Terry Edwards, and his wife, Linda, Shawnee, Kan.; a daughter, Pamela Jane Ward, and her husband, Allan, rural Winston; four grandchildren, Allison Ward, Erin Ward, Marcy Stuhlsat and Matt Edwards; his stepmother, Catherine Edwards, Marshall; and a great-granddaughter, Cassidy Stuhlsat.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Mark Edwards.
Funeral services are today (Thursday), Nov. 11 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with the Rev. Leslie Bone and Chaplain Bart Larson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday), at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice or Missouri River Hospice of Columbia.
Wayne Foster
Wayne Foster , 94, Versailles died Saturday evening, Feb. 26, 2000, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
He was born Oct. 17, 1905, in West Mineral, Kan., a son of the late Homer M. and Della Bryner Foster.
He was married to Hazel Williams in 1942, and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Foster had a distinguished career as an aviation pioneer and teaching pilots to fly in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
In 1942, Mr. Foster enlisted in the Army.
However, when it was discovered he could fly, he was transferred to the Air Force at Cape Girardeau.
While there, he taught young cadets how to fly.
By the time Mr. Foster quit flying at the end of World War II, he had logged more than 3,500 miles in the air.
After graduating from high school in Labette County, Kan., Mr. Foster went to work for the county road division.
In 1938, he moved to the Lake of the Ozarks area near Purvis to work at a job making Chris Craft boats.
Three years later, he and Herb Bellamy bought a plumbing shop in Versailles.
He later owned and operated Versailles Metal Supply and with the assistance of George Edgar was able to continue working until semi-retiring in 1998.
When land was acquired in Versailles, to build an airport, Mr. Foster's interest in aviation led him to volunteer to design, build and maintain a navigational wind directional pilot aid at the airport, which assists pilots in landing at the Versailles airport and enhances safety and professionalism.
He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Lillian Foster, Sedalia; and other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his wife, he also was preceded in death by his sister, Jocelyn Earnest, who died on Feb. 21, 2000, in Hutchison, Kans.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.
Interment, with military graveside burial rites, will be in the Versailles Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.

Mr. Foster will be cremated.
Dudley C. "Pete" Deets
Dudley C. "Pete" Deets, 54, Sunrise Beach, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 30, 1945, at St. Joseph, the son of Dudley George and Audrey D. Snider Deets.
Mr. Deets worked in the landscaping business.
He is survived by his mother, Audrey Snider, Sunrise Beach; one sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Bob Denk, Laurie; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, February 29 at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with the Rev. James Lawley officiating. Graveside services and interment were Tuesday at East Slope Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Riverside.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
Jimmy Don Walters
Jimmy Don Walters, 50, Stover, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Hamel, Ill.
He was born May, 15, 1949, at Gravois Mills, the son of Everett W. and Grace Eddy Walters.
On May 5, 1979, he married Judy A. Lindsey, who survives of the home.
Mr. Walters was an over-the-road truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Judy A. Walters, the home; two sons, James Andrew Walters and Matthew Don Walters, both of the home; one daughter, Jami Grace Walters, of the home; his mother, Grace Walters, Versailles; his maternal grandmother, Edith Eddy, Versailles; three brothers, Lt. Col. Bob Walters, serving the U.S. Army stationed in Japan, Bill Walters, Versailles, and Gary Walters, Gravois Mills; one sister, Carol James, Gravois Mills; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Walters, on Jan. 9, 1983.
Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 28 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Walter Evenson officiating.
Interment was in the Holst Cemetery near Gravois Mills.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
Viola S. Wilson
Viola S. Wilson, 82, Versailles, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 22, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
She was born Nov. 8, 1917, at Versailles, the daughter of Benjamin R. and Rose Stella Wilson Silvey.
On March 5, 1941, she married Roy E. Wilson, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Versailles.
She had been employed at Primo, Kansas City Bifocal and Tweedie's Factories, all in Versailles.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Rickiey Shelton and Ron Shelton and his wife, Naomi, all of Versailles; two brothers, Lloyd Silvey, Versailles, and Elmer Silvey, Independence; one granddaughter, Rebecca Shelton, Versailles; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to their parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Donnie; one brother, William Ray Silvey; and one sister, Juanita E. Wilson.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 25 at the First Assembly of God Church in Versailles, with the Rev. Roy Bennett officiating.
Fred Stamps sang "Amazing Grace" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee."
Interment was in the Versailles Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Ron Sheldon, Terry Silvey, Gary Silvey, Vernon Silvey, Ed Silvey and Steve Silvey.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
