Anne Fleming
Anne M. (McCarty) Fleming of Perryville, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville.
She was 86.
She was born April 12, 1917 in San Francisco, Calif., the daughter of the late John and Yvonne (Cheauveau) McCarty.
She was married to Monroe Fleming, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Survivors include one son, Patrick Pirrie of Cuba; one daughter-in-law, Sue Pirrie of Perryville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Pirrie; and one sister.
Mrs. Fleming was a corporate bookkeeper.
She was of the Catholic faith.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be made to Southeast Hospice.
All funeral services were private.
Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville, provided the arrangements.

B. Maxine Taylor
B. Maxine (Noble) Taylor of Perryville, formerly of St. Louis, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville.
She was 78.
She was born Feb. 5, 1925 in Maryville, the daughter of the late William R. and Florence Eva (Donahue) Noble.
She was married in 1946 to Velmer M. Mehner, who preceded her in death in October 1997.
She was married in 1967 to Raymond W. Taylor, who preceded her in death in August 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte (Mehner) Worrell-McFry of Perryville; one son-in-law, August L. "Sonny" McFry of Perryville; two sisters, Lova Wright of Commerce City, Colo., and Mary Eva Hill of Smyrna, Ga.; one brother, William L. Noble of Bell City, Texas; two grandchildren, Katherine D. (Joseph) Johnson of Covington, Ga., and Bradley D. (Lisa) Worrell of Perryville; and three great-grandchildren, Hope Johnson and Faith Johnson, both of Covington, Ga., and Dillon R. Thomas of Perryville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
Mrs. Taylor was a retired certified medical transcriptionist at Bethesda General Hospital in St. Louis, for 25 years.
She was owner/operator of Maxine's Music Studio in Perryville, for eight years.
She was a member of Service Club for the Blind in St. Louis, Humane Society of the United States, Missouri School For the Blind in St. Louis, Missouri Federation of the Blind, and the Ozark Association of the Blind & United Workers for the Blind.
The family prefers memorials to be made to St. Louis Humane Society.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 at Kriegshauser South Mortuary, 4228 S. Kingshighway Blvd., St. Louis, MO, with the Rev. Ralph Burris officiating.
Young & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville, provided the arrangements.

Doris Griesse
Doris Virginia (Schamburg) Griesse of Fort Smith, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003 at a hospital in Fort Smith, Ark.
She was 81.
She was born Sept. 25, 1922 in Friedenberg.
She grew up in Perryville. She was married July 19, 1942, to Rev. W. E. Griesse, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include nine children, Dennis of Fayetteville, Ark., Deborah of Little Rock, Ark., Kurt of Fort Smith, Ark., Sandra (Bill) of Amarillo, Texas, David (Paula) and Dan (Marge), all of Fort Smith, Ark., Beverly of Boulder, Colo., Martha (Frank) of Memphis, Tenn., and Susan (Peter) of London, England; nine grandchildren, Rachel Griesse, Mark Griesse, John Griesse, and Nicole Griesse, all of Fort Smith, Ark., Birch Griesse and Evan Griesse, both of Fayetteville, Ark., Randall Heck of Amarillo, Texas, and Jason Jones and Lindsay Jones, both of Fort Smith, Ark.; and two sisters, Evelyn Schamburg of Denver, Colo., and Verna Hagan of Perryville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sons, Larry Griesse and Gerald Griesse.
Mrs. Griesse was a full-time mother. She enjoyed lawn work, gardening, and the Razorbacks.
She was skilled at cards and participated in several bridge clubs.
She was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
A memorial fund has been set up at First Lutheran Church, 419 North 12th St., Fort Smith, Ark. 72901.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith, Ark.
A private graveside service was held at Roselawn Cemetery.
Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Ark., provided the arrangements.

Elta Berkbigler
Elta Francis (Miget) Berkbigler of Perryville, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville.
She was 95.

Francis Flieg
Francis X. Flieg of Zell, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at his home.
He was 74.
He was born Aug. 4, 1929 in Zell, the son of the late Andrew and Philomena (Grass) Flieg.
He was married to Helen (Samson) Flieg, who preceded him in death.
He was then married Aug. 1, 1967 to Delsie F. (Sparks) Flieg, who survives in Zell.
Other survivors include two sons, Steven (Carol) Flieg and Robert (Joan) Flieg, both of Ste. Genevieve; four daughters, Joyce (Terry) Belfield, Gail (Dennis) Dowdy, and Holly (Jeff) Turner, all of Ste. Genevieve, and Kelly (Charles) Picou of Perryville; two brothers, Henry (Evelyn) Flieg of Perryville, and Aloysius (Hildegard) Flieg of Ste. Genevieve; three sisters, Sr. Mary Vera Flieg of Red Bud, Ill., and Lorene Gegg and Rosemary (Francis) Kreitler, both of Ste. Genevieve; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; one daughter, Judy Huck; one son, Charles Wilbur Schwent; and two brothers, Richard Flieg and Herbert Flieg.
Mr. Flieg worked alongside his daughter Kelly at Kelly's Restaurant in Perryville, after retiring as a poultry farmer for many years.
He was a member of the Kawanis Club in Perryville.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at St. Joseph Church in Zell, with the Rev. James Hanson officiating.
Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Zell.
Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve, provided the arrangements.

Freeman Hovis
Freeman J. Hovis of Perryville, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was 81.

Waldo Neislein
Waldo C. Neislein of Rockwood, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 at Chester Memorial Hospital in Chester, Ill.
He was 87.
He was born Oct. 4, 1916 in Friedheim, the son of the late Franklin Benjamin and Matilda Hanna (Tuschhoff) Neislein.
He was married March 12, 1942 to Rosilda B. (Roth) Neislein, who preceded him in death Nov. 16, 1992.
Survivors include three sons, Melvin (Edna) Neislein of Chester, Ill., Calvin (Anne) Neislein of Fenton, and Richard (Marilyn) Neislein of Rockwood, Ill.; one brother, Wilbert Neislein of Perryville; five grandchildren, Sherry Bohnert, Lynette Colvis, Tricia Friess, Chris Lingle, and Stephanie Schicker; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one infant son; one granddaughter, Ulricke; and one great-granddaughter.
Mr. Neislein was a retired farmer and security aid at Chester Mental Health in Chester, Ill.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Chester, Ill.
The family prefers memorials to be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Chester, Ill., or Christ Lutheran High in Evansville, Ill.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at Young & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Perryville, with the Rev. Martin Springer officiating. Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.

Harold Lowes
Harold A. Lowes of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was 89.
He was born Dec. 19, 1914 in Jackson, the son of the late August and Cora (Ludwig) Lowes.
He was married July 16, 1950 to Helen (Koch) Lowes, who survives in Oak Ridge.
Other survivors include one daughter, Joy Braeuner of Stevens Pt., Wis.; one brother, Cletus Lowes of Jackson; four grandchildren, Jessica and Andrew Muench, Jolene Braeuner, and Joseph Lemon Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Muench.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Mr. Lowes was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, church trustee, 52-year church member, Arnsburg Cemetery Committee, and SEMO Iris Society.
The family prefers memorials to be made to Arnsburg Cemetery.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, with the Rev. David Burge officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with military graveside service provided by American Legion Post 133 in Perryville.
Young & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville, provided the arrangements.
