KENNETT, Mo. - Cleta Naomi Carter Dockins, 71, of Kennett died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at NHC Healthcare in Kennett.
Mrs. Dockins was born April 19, 1828, in Ellsinore.
In 1963, she married James Robert Dockins.
He died Feb. 18, 1980.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Huckelberry of Clarkton and Marcia Ward of Kennett; a son, Allen Whitehead of Sulphur Springs, Texas; a step-son, Bobby Dockins of Malden; her parents, Loyd and Edith Carter of Bernie; three sisters, Verna Roberts of Malden, Leatha McElvoy of Springfield and Brenda Collins of Lakefield, Fla.; two brothers, Willis Carter of Bonne Terre and Sherman Cater of Bernie; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Revs. Bud Evans and Johnnie McNuckles officiating.
Burial will be the Mount Gilead Cemetery in Clarkton.
LaRue DiStefano
MALDEN, Mo. - LaRue DiStefano, 63, of Malden died near Cairo, Ill., Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999.
Mrs. DiStefano was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Kennett.
She was a jeweler and florist and owned Accents and Accessories in Malden.
She was also a member of the First Christian Church in Malden.
She married John J. DiStefano in Las Vegas March 6, 1955.
He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John R. DiStefano of Malden and Anthony J. DiStefano of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, and other relatives.
Visitation will be between 6 and 7 p.m. Sunday at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Malden with Glen Graham officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Woodrow DeJournett
BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - Woodrow DeJournett, 86, of Bloomfield died Saturday Oct. 9, 1999, at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Bloomfield.
Mr. DeJournett was born Nov. 1, 1912, near Gray Ridge.
He was a retired farmer and had worked for 12 years at the Malden Air Base.
He had lived in Southeast Missouri all his life and in Bloomfield for the past 50 years.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.
Surviving are two sons, Jim Blocker and Terry DeJournett, both of Bloomfield; two daughters, Sheila Griswell of Bloomfield and Mary Jane Clifton of Whitewater; three brothers, Lloyd and Marvin DeJournett, both of Dexter, and Wiley DeJournett of Bloomfield; a sister, Kathleen Givens of Cape Girardeau; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Ledbetter of Essex officiating.
Burial will be in Link Cemetery near Bloomfield.
Earl William Landers Jr.
Earl William Landers Jr., 52, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Doctors Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Landers was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Sikeston.
He was a registered nurse with an associate degree in nursing.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Vietnam, and was of the Baptist faith.
On June 12, 1993, he married Tonya Harrison.
She survives.
Also surviving are a stepson, Eddie Adams of Poplar Bluff; a son, Christopher Landers of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Heather Householder and Holly Peaster, both of Lake City, Ark.; four grandchildren; his mother, Ethel Bolner of Lake City, Ark.; three brothers, Lynn Landers of Morehouse, Kenny Dement of California and Keith Dement of Dallas, Texas, and three sisters, Bonnie Hann of Dexter, Darla Varvell of Poplar Bluff and Claire Sterling of Sikeston.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tom Graham officiating.
Burial will be in the Essex City Cemetery.
Ruth Cox McCain
NAYLOR - Ruth Elizabeth Cox McCain, 74, of Neelyville died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
Mrs. McCain was born July 3, 1925, at Parma.
She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed quilting, cooking and gardening.
On July 24, 1943, she married N.C. 'Doc' McCain in Poplar Bluff.
He preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, James McCain of Barlow, Ky.; Larry McCain of Ledbetter, Ky., and Jerry McCain of Neelyville; one daughter, Mary Casinger of Neelyville; one stepson, Wesley Cox; two sisters, Leona Venters and Velta Franklin, both of Poplar Bluff; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Parrent Funeral Home in Naylor.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Billy Garrett officiating.
Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell.
Martha E. Bates
DONIPHAN - Martha Elizabeth Bates, 76, of Doniphan, died at 5:35 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in the Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan.
She had been seriously ill one day.
Mrs. Bates was born March 10, 1924, in Ripley County and she resided there most of her life.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
In 1950, she married Raymond A. McCrae.
She later married Lynn Bates.
He preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Susie Keeney and Ida McCrae, both of Doniphan; one son, Monty Bates of Victor, N.Y.; two sisters, Marge Dale of Doniphan and Oma Richmond of Lake, Miss.; one brother, Alvie Rook of Jacksonville, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Alton.
Doris Waltman
DES ARC, Mo. - Doris Waltman, 65, of Des Arc died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Fredericktown.
Mrs. Waltman was born Aug. 14, 1934, in Alabama.
On Jan. 20, 1962, she married Raymond Waltman.
He died June 21, 1999.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Bollinger of Annapolis, Vickie Griffith of Patterson, and Joyce Kraemer of House Springs; two sons, Glen Waltman of Patterson and Ralph Waltman of Columbia, Mo.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Ruegg Funeral Home at Piedmont.
A funeral is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dewel Smith officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. View Cemetery at Des Arc.
Dorothy Bess
DEXTER - Dorothy Lee Bess, 77, of Dexter, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the Dexter Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Bess was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Dexter.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter, the Dexter Memorial Hospital Ladies' Auxiliary, Eastern Star and was a homemaker.
On Oct. 13, 1942, she married Andrew Bess in Bloomfield.
He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Ronald Bess of Bolivar; one daughter, Andrea Hitt of Enid, Okla.; one sister, Bobbie Brown of Florida; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Kevin Chenoweth officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
