Pauline Harris
Pauline Harris, daughter of George B. McCann and Christina S. Schaap McCann, was born in Pulaski County, Missouri, on March 17, 1920, and departed this life Nov. 7, 2003 at Lebanon. On Oct. 7, 1939, she was united in marriage with Grover Harris, and to this union was born three children, all surviving. Pauline was a homemaker, but a farmer at heart. She loved to be outdoors, and worked very hard in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was especially proud of her Hollyhocks.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Grover; Kenneth Ray and his wife Wanda of Parkville; two daughters, Dalpha Jean Schmidt and her husband Wally of Brandywine, M.D., and Mary Ellen Ratliff and her husband Bobby, of Nokesvile, Vir.; four sisters, Nell Dese of St. Louis, Rachel Harvey of Carl Junction, Barbara Phillips of Chesterfield, and Joann Schliesman of Joplin; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Keith, Don, Lester and Chester McCann, and by four sisters, Orpha Ramsey Miller, Effie McCann, Mildred Hancock, and Helen McCann.
Services for Pauline were held on Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 at 2 p.m. Minister was Christopher Robinson and music was provided by Marcia Shadel. Escorts were Jeff Schmidt, Bruce Schmidt, Lee Schmidt, David Ratliff, Michael Ratliff, Kevin Harris and Bradley Harris. Burial is at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pansy Irene "Patty-Cake" Exendine
Pansy Irene "Patty-Cake" Exendine was born April 18, 1933 to the late Albert Jackson Merrell and Lottie Christine (Varner) Poythress in Newburg, where she grew up and attended the Millcreek school, a county school outside of Newburg.
In 1948 Pansy was united in marriage to George Washington Exendine, who preceded her in death. Their infant son, George Exendine, also preceded her in death.
Pansy was baptized and attended the Harvest Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed sewing and hand crocheted beautiful bed dolls.
Pansy passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at her home in Turkey Ridge, having attained the age of 70 years.
Pansy is survived by three sisters: Margaret Stacey of Waynesville, Inis Braun of Laquey, and Lorene Cheek of Cochran, Ga.; five brothers: Lester and John Merrell of Independence, Albert Merrell of Raymore, William Merrell of Temple, Texas, and Arthur Merrell of Milford, Fla.; a special niece, Linda Crossland of Waynesville; several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Anna Merrell Bunch and Rebecca Merrell Blake.
A graveside service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2003 in the Idumea Cemetery with Rev. Bob Thornton officiating. Family and friends served as escorts. Services were under the direction of Richland Memorial Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Pansy Exendine and may be left at Richland Memorial Chapel.
