Jack Newton Miller, son of the late Daniel Sylvester and Lettie Bell (Page) Miller, was born July 14, 1914 at Bloodland, Missouri in Pulaski County, where he grew up and attended school.
On July 3, 1933, Jack was united in marriage with Lucille Collier, and to this union, two daughters were born: Wanda and Judith.
On February 3, 1952, Jack married Roma Bostwick in Temple City, California.
In February, Jack and Roma celebrated 50 years of marriage and memories.
Jack owned and operated the J. Miller Company, Inc in Sun Valley, California for over 50 years.
He enjoyed the oceanfront view of his home and spending time with family and friends.
Jack departed this life the morning of May 30, 2002 at his home in San Juan Capistrano, California, at the age of 87 years.
Jack was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by his wife: Roma; three daughters: Wanda Hirsch and Judith Hirsch and her husband, Steve all of Nixa, Missouri and Pat Huffman and her husband, Lloyd of Hidden Hills, California; and one son: Dennis Miller and his wife, Elaine of Palm Desert, California.
He also leaves two sisters: Josephine Helton of Springfield, Missouri and Maude Nichels of Godfrey, Illinois.
Also surviving are several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one sister: Daisy Helton and two brothers: Richard and Dr. Clyde Miller.
A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery at Big Piney, Missouri, with Rev. John Shaw officiating.
Mr. Miller's granddaughters: Lisa Herndon and Stephanie Illig shared memories of their grandfather.
The congregation sang "Amazing Grace."
Serving as escorts were Richard Herndon, David Illig, Mark Hirsch, Mark Anthony Hirsch, Justin Hirsch and Steve M. Hirsch.
Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
Chester Charles Ward
Chester Charles Ward, son of Clarence Eugene Ward and Betty (Eaton) Ward Ablin, was born March 7, 1950 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and departed this life the afternoon of May 29, 2002 at the Springfield Skilled Care Center, at the age of 52 years.
C.C. grew up in Waynesville, where he attended Waynesville schools and the Church of Christ.
For the last 35 years, C.C. has made his home in Springfield.
C.C. was dearly loved, and will be sadly missed by his mother: Betty Ablin of Springfield; one brother: Billy Ablin and his wife, Terry of Kirkwood; and two sisters: Sharis Myers and her husband, Ray of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Carla James and her husband, Gary of Lees Summit.
He also leaves his nieces and nephews: Alex Ablin, Ben and Jen Myers and Nichole and Taylor James.
Also surviving is one great nephew, Tomas; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding C.C. in death were his father, Clarence Eugene Ward and his stepfather, Leo Ablin.
A memorial service was held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Don Strong officiating.
The family chose some of C.C.'s favorite songs to be played: "The Old Rugged Cross," "Sweet Hour of Prayer," "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," "Softly and Tenderly," "Standing on the Promises," "Just A Closer Walk With Thee," "I'll Remember You," "A Friend of Mine," "Unforgettable," and "Fire and Rain."

Laura J. Williams
Laura J. Williams, daughter of Lorenzo and Clara Belle Payne Watson, was born on July 23, 1902, at Hazelgreen and departed this life May 21, 2002 at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
In April of 1920, she was united in marriage with Willie James Williams and to this union was born two children, both surviving.
Laura professed her faith in Christ at an early age and became a member of the Hazelgreen Baptist Church.
At the time of her passing she was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church in Richland, where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willie James Williams, two sisters, Winnie Johnson and Grace Barlow, three half brothers, Boda and Wallace Rupard and Elmer Watson, and one half sister Elsa Harrell.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family which include her daughter, Mary Belle Bohannon and her husband Edward, of Richland; her son Willie Edward Williams and his wife Carolyn, of Jirard, Ill.; four grandchildren, David Bohannon, Michael and Scott Williams and Cynthia Schultz; three great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter; other relatives and friends.
Services for Laura were held on Friday, May 24, 2002 at 11 a.m.
The service was held at Colonial Funeral Chapel.
Pryor Ray Prewett and Dr. Mike Hawkins conducted the service.
Bob Leinbaugh was the soloist and Marcia Shadel was the organist.
Escorts were Edward Bohannon, Bill Williams, Chris Williams, David Bohannon, Mike Williams and Troy Posten.
Honorary Escorts were Cleamont Sheeley, Martin Barlow, Charles Long, Jim Vaughn and Ben Scott.
Her resting place is Oaklawn Cemetery.
Joseph Woolsey
Joseph Orval Woolsey, son of Joseph and Myrtle (Gilbert) Woolsey, was born August 17, 1914 in Booneville, Indiana in Spencer County.
He departed this life the evening of April 29, 2002 at the Christian Health Care Center, North, Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of 87 years.
Joseph was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, serving in the Big Red One First Infantry Division.
For his faithful and honorable service to his country, Sergeant First Class Woolsey received many medals, awards and commendations during his 20 year military career.
Joseph will be greatly missed by his sons: Dennis Woolsey of Lebanon and James Woolsey of Jacksonville, Florida, and five daughters: Judy Schultz of Dolores, Colorado, Dolores Noack of Madison, Wisconsin, Jackie Bone of El Paso, Texas, Marilyn Phillips of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Rebecca Sporrer of Carol, Iowa.
He also leaves one brother: Archie Woolsey of Sandusky, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Gwaltney Cemetery, Midway, Indiana, with his sons Dennis and James officiating. Family members in attendance shared special memories of Joseph.
James played the guitar as the congregation sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" "God's Grace" "Precious Memories" and "Amazing Grace."
The U.S. Army at Evansville, Indiana provided military honors.
Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
Jay B. Squires
Jay B. Squires of Crocker passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at his home.
He had attained the age of 77 years.
Jay B. was born to James Blee and Florence Winifred-Vance Squires on July 2, 1924 in Crocker.
He was one of nine children.
He was united in marriage to Eddalee Christine Dowell on September 22, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She passed away just one month before their golden wedding anniversary in 2001.
Three daughters were born to Jay B. and Eddalee and they shared a wonderful lifetime of memories with Donna, Debra and Deanna and later their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jay B. was a retired carpenter and passed away in one of the very homes he built during his carpentry career.
He built many homes in the Crocker and Waynesville area and often enjoyed pointing them out to his family and sharing a story about them.
Even after retiring, he often devoted much of his time to "fix-it-up" projects around his home.
Jay B. was a regular on the local diner and restaurant scene and came to meet many people throughout his years of trying new places to eat that would serve you a cup of coffee.
He was often accompanied by his family and nearly never missed a day of "getting out of the house" when he was able.
He was a lover of fishing when his health permitted, planting gardens, trains and family peace.
He always had an opinion, a plan and a place to go.
His family will dearly miss his wisdom and solitude.
Mr. Squires is preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Squires; his wife, Eddalee; three sisters, Lenna, Patsy and Gladys; and three brothers, James, Elwyn and Gene.
He is survived by his three daughters, Donna Morton and her husband Fred; and Debra Squires of Crocker and Deanna Goodrich of Versailles; one sister, Gwen Brown of Waynesville; one brother, Gary Squires of Crocker; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Henson, Jaythan Skaggs, Jeremy Skaggs, Kelly Wilson, Hope Gray, Seth Goodrich and Jay Goodrich, all of Crocker, and Kelly Lumbard of Holden; ten great-grandchildren; and special family friend, James Goodrich.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Brother Wain Ward officiating.
"The Resurrection Joy" and "Life Without End at Last" were played.
Burial followed in Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as escorts were Jaythan Skaggs, Seth Goodrich, Jay Goodrich, Rob Henson, Jason Wilson and Jon Gray.

Richard T. Quesenberry
Richard T. Quesenberry, son of John P. and Anna (McCann) Quesenberry, was born on June 23, 1927 in St. Louis.
He departed this life on May 6, 2002 at his home in Richland.
On August 23, 1947 he was united in marriage with Margie Ann Morgan.
To this union, was born four children.
Margie preceded him in death on October 9, 2001.
Those surviving are his children, Richard Quesenberry and Jeanie of St. Louis, Carol Johnson and Donald of Richland, Linda Rupnik and Steven of Hazelwood, and Cynthia Canoy and Gerard of St. Louis; eight grandchildren: Heather and Jonathan Quesenberry, Sherry Taylor, and Jerry, Brad Johnson, Jason Helm and Michelle, Jeff Helm, Camille and Patrick Canoy; four great-grandchildren: James Taylor, Caleb, Joshua and Isaac Helm; special niece, Kim Miller, of Bridgeton.
He also leaves a sister, Rhea Quesenberry of Richland, and a brother, Robert Quesenberry of Linn; many other friends and relatives.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, John and Anna Quesenberry, and two brothers, Leo and Leonard Quesenberry.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on May 9, 2002 at White-Mullin Mortuary in Ferguson.
Escorts were Brad Johnson, Jason Helm, Jonathon Quesenberry, Patrick Canoy, Jerry Taylor, and Jeff Miller.
Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis.
Ella Mae York
Ella Mae York, daughter of Samuel Smith Storie and Lillie White Storie, was born October 6, 1912 in Laquey and departed this life April 17, 2002 in Lebanon at the age of eighty-nine years.
She was united in marriage with Emmer Dale York and to this union were born five children.
At the time of her death, she was a member of the Idumea Baptist Church where she had attended most of her life.
Her hobbies included gardening, both flowers and vegetables, quilting, drawing birds, making dolls, and being around all her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Ernest York, Jefferson City, and Robert York, Laquey; two daughters, Loretta Kahn, Dallas, Texas, and Kathy Dowden, Lebanon; two sisters, June Foster, Plato, and Joan Smith, Joplin; four grandchildren, several great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Emmer Dale York; her parents; and one son, William Dean York.
Ella Mae was a lovely Christian lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services for Mrs. York were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2002 at Idumea Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Graves officiating.
Music was provided by Diana York, Soloist, and Grace McClary, Accompanist.
Escorts were Ted Storie, Tim Storie, Cleo Nunn, Sam Storie, John Storie and Ron Perryman.
Burial was in Idumea Cemetery, under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel, Richland.
