Ruth Louisa Hendrix Ledbetter
Ruth Louisa Hendrix Ledbetter, daughter of Charles and Nettie Anderson Hendrix, was born August 22, 1919 in Pulaski County and departed this life March 18, 2003 in Springfield at the age of eighty three years.
Ruth accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized, later placing her membership with the Swedeborg Christian Church in March of 1963, where she remained a member.
On November 10, 1945 she was united in marriage with Luther Ledbetter, and to this union was born two sons.
Ruth was employed at the garment factory in Iberia, H.D. Lee Plant in Richland and the Swedeborg School. She loved carpooling to work, pulling pranks on her co-workers and serving meals to school children. Ruth enjoyed the outdoors, loved company of her family and friends, and took great pride in telling stories about her great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Richard and Kent Ledbetter, both of Richland; four grandchildren, Kayla Raub of Springfield, Charla Ledbetter of Richland, Brad and Brian Ledbetter of Richland; five great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Courtney, Kaitlyn, Paige and Jacob; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Luther; four brothers, Clyde, Tom, Albert and Dick Hendrix; and two sisters, Leona Hendrix and Cliffie Goodrich.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Swedeborg Christian Church, with Pastor Tom Gola officiating. Escorts were Howard Feldmeier, Bob Brandon, Jerry Miller, Donnie Tomlinson, Ronnie Strain and John Platten.
Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at Colonial Chapel.

Alfred Lee Ferguson
Alfred Lee Ferguson of rural Richland, was born August 16, 1937 at Union City, Tennessee, a son of Joseph Russell and Ida Viola Pinion, and departed this life at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Ferguson had been in failing health for the past year.
Mr. Ferguson was united in marriage on January 29, 1998 at Paris, Tennessee, to Dawn Beverly Vance. He was preceded in death by one daughter in 1975, and his parents.
Mr. Ferguson retired from the United States Army on August 31, 1975, after serving his country for twenty-two years. He had attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was a life member of the Crocker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4956, Crocker.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Ferguson include: his wife, Dawn Ferguson of the home near Richland; two sons, Alfred Ferguson, Jr., Osage Beach, and Donald Ferguson, Richland; two daughters, Denise Lynn Ferguson, Richland, and Sandy Ferguson, Stoutland; four stepsons: Denny Plemmons, Cocoa, Fla., David Plemmons, Oakdale, Calif., Keith Plemmons, Kaiser, and Kevin Plemmons, Brumley; two stepdaughters, Linda Phillips, Richland, and Lisa Phillips, Pratherville; three brothers, Fred Ferguson, Graham, Wash., Tommy Ferguson, Tacoma, Wash., and Billy Ferguson, Copalis Beach, Wash.; four sisters, Ruth Laird, Paris, Tenn., Kay Lyttle, Jackson, Mich., Jamie Hester, Westland, Mich., and Rita Wagner, Britten, Mich.; twenty-five grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Full Military Honors were given for Mr. Ferguson in honor of his military service at 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening, March 7, 2002 at the Long Funeral Home, Crocker, by the Liesmann-Roberts American Legion Post Number 298, Dixon.
Cremation followed the service under the direction of the Long Funeral Home, Crocker. Honorary pallbearers for Mr. Ferguson were Alfred Ferguson, Jr., Donald Ferguson, Denny Plemmons, David Plemmons, Keith Plemmons, and Kevin Plemmons.

Larry Long
Larry (Butch) Gale Long, of Columbia, was born October 13, 1950 at Brumley, a son of Willie Otho and Elsie Ellen McCombs Long, and departed this life at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002 in the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia, following a brief illness. Mr. Long had attained the age of 51 years.
Mr. Long was preceded in death by his father on April 17, 1991; his mother on July 23, 1969; and one sister, Vivan Rayl in 1996.
He was employed by Constable Trash Company, Lee's Summit for twenty years, was a United States Navy Veteran, and was a member of the VFW Post at Lee's Summit for ten years.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Long include: two sons, Joshua Long and David Nathaniel Long, both of the state of Wyoming; one daughter, Magen Lee Long, Lee's Summit; three brothers, Gary Long, Crocker, Terry Long and Jerry Long, both of Richland; four sisters, Wilma Hooker, Colorado Springs, Colo., Thelma Belsha and Chris Shelton, both of Richland; and Velma Roney, Warsaw; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Long at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002 in the Long Funeral Home, Crocker, with Bro. Lee Todd, Concord Christian Church, officiating.
Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Iberia, under the direction of the Long Funeral Home, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mr. Long were Tim Long, Billy Long, Jim Worstell, Mark Roney, Leonard Shelton, and Nick Long. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Long and Jason Long.

Hellen Marieta Kelly
Helen Marieta Kelley, daughter of Chauncy and Euva Schley Smith, was born November 25, 1920 in Akron, Ohio and departed this life March 19, 2003 at Palm Harbor, Florida.
Helen was married to the late Bryce L. Kelley and to this union four wonderful children were brought into this world, Michael Kelley, Bryce Kelley, Colleen Woehl and Kathleen Ray.
Helen's life here on earth could only be characterized as full, richly rewarding and enjoyable. Helen traveled extensively, experienced and enjoyed life with many different cultures and had good friends from many points on the globe. Be that as it may, Helen considered Richland as her only true home. Certainly it wasn't just the beautiful area around Richland that attracted Helen, but most importantly, her church, her home and especially her friends.
Helen will truly be missed by all of her family and friends. Certainly we are sad at this moment, but Helen has found peace with the Lord, so we should be celebrating her life. To reduce our sadness one has only to think of that perky spirit and warm smile to bring fond memories of that lady we called Mom, Mother, Grandma, Mrs. "K," friend, or Helen.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2003 at Colonial Chapel, Richland, with Rev. Ralph Hosman officiating. Music was provided by Merlene Smith, Soloist, and Rosalynn York, Organist. A poem was read by Crees Forster. Escorts were Jim Woehl, Kevin Ray, Derrick Morgan, Ken Ray, Darin Woehl and Ronnie Walters.
Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, Richland. Services were under the direction of Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at Colonial Chapel.

Maude Nickels
Maude Nickels, 95, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2003 at the Eunice C. Smith Nursing Home in Alton, Illinois, where she resided for the past three years.
Mrs. Nickels, born in Big Piney, Missouri on December 26, 1907, was the daughter of the late Daniel and Lettie (Page) Miller and the widow of Verl Nickels who passed away in 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Nickels were married in Vienna, Mo. on Nov. 29, 1929. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Haseltine, and son-in-law, Nelson Haseltine, of Godfrey, Illinois; her grandson, Greg Stroube and wife Anne of Alton, Illinois, and her granddaughter, Kim Heineman and husband Jim of Randolph, New Jersey. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Andrew, Alex, Ian, and Lydia Stroube, and C.J., Kelsey, Louis and Tyler Heineman, as well as one sister, Josephine Helton of Springfield, Mo., two sisters-in-law, Roma Miller of San Clemente, Calif., and Sarah Sparks of Dixon; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were four brothers: Mack, Clyde, Richard, and Jack Miller and one sister, Daisy Helton.
Maude attended Fairview Baptist Church where she was a member for 73 years and taught Sunday School for many of those years. She was a member of Eastern Star, Plato Chapter No. 240. She enjoyed her family, her friends, and her farm where she lived and worked for almost seven decades.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Suggs officiating. Pianist, Becky Lercher sang, "Amazing Grace" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Pallbearers were Nelson Haseltine, Gus Nickels, Andrew Stroube, Rex Miller, Alex Stroube, Greg Stroube and Kimberly Heineman.
Burial followed in Idumea Cemetery, Laquey. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Idumea Cemetery Fund.

Lloyd Wesley Cornelison
Lloyd Wesley Cornelison, son of Collie M. and Sophia (Crabtree) Cornelison was born on January 29, 1923, in Lebanon, Okla., and passed away on March 9, 2002 at his home in Richland at the age of 79.
On August 31, 1955, he was united in marriage with Ila Sewell, and 13 children were born to this union.
For many years, Lloyd worked as a truck driver, and in 1989 he retired from Scott's Barrel Company.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Ila of the home; four sons: Franklin Loyd Cornelison, of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; Michael Glenn Cornelison, Kansas City, Kan.; Gerald Ray Hess, Richland; eight daughters: Judy Kay Cornelison, Kansas City, Kan.; Deborah Sue Telz, Seattle, Wash.; Vickie Lynn Allen, Kansas City, Kan.; Connie Charlene Hernandez, Kansas City, Kan.; Bobbie June Newby, Meeker, Okla.; Margaret Ruth Crocker, Kansas City, Mo.; Rebecca Ann Gosling, Kansas City, Kan.; and Charlotte Jean Burch, Richland; one brother Floyd Cornelison of Ardmore, Okla.; two sisters Frances Martin of Denison, Texas and Jade McClendon of Ardmore, Okla. 39 nine grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren and one dog "Shameless" of the home.
He is preceded by his parents and one son, Charles Evans.
Services were held on Sunday, March 10, 2002 at 3 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mike Hawkins officiating.
Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and DeLores Shadel, organist.
A Committal Service was held Monday, March 11, 2002 at 1 p.m.
Final resting place for Mr. Cornelison is Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kan.

Mary Eileen Johnson
Mary Eileen Johnson, daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Ann (Deedigan) O'Callaghan, was born Feb. 6, 1930 in Limerick City, Ireland.
On July 11, 1956, Mary was united in marriage with Andrew Johnson in St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, New York. Mary and Andrew were blessed with four wonderful sons: Thomas, Andrew, Robert and Kevin.
Mary dedicated her life to the love and care of her husband and four boys. She loved spending time with family and playing Bingo.
Mary was a long time member of the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society.
Mary passed away the evening of March 19, 2003 in Rolla Presbyterian Manor having attained the age of 73 years.
Mary will be sadly missed by her husband: Andrew and four sons: Thomas Johnson of Rolla, Andrew W. and Robert Johnson both of Laquey, and Kevin Johnson of Marshfield. She also leaves one brother: Billie O'Callaghan of Warrington, England and four sisters: Agnes Cook of Plymouth, England; Lillie Hennessey, Phyllis McCarron and Teresa Abbott, all of Warrington, England. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren: Bradley, Katie, Ryan, Callie, Kyle and Kory along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A Vigil service was held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 21 at Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Father John Groner officiating.
Funeral mass was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church with Father Groner officiating. Agatha Douwnar and Charlotte Voudrie were servers and Joan Rosipal assisted with readings. Organist, Evelyn Horine lead the music and sang, "Ave Maria." Serving as escorts were Tom, Andy, Robert, Kevin, Kyle and Kory Johnson.
Mr. Ken Hines helped the family celebrate Mary's Irish heritage by playing the bagpipes as they walked to Mary's final resting place in the Resurrection Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
