Phyllis L. Wilcox, 79 of St. Robert, a homemaker, passed away the evening of Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Mukwanago, Wis.
Arrangements are under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Wilcox is survived by her daughter; Deborah Dowdal and her husband, Leslie of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a sister; Virginia Schmidt of Waukesha, Wis.; a sister-in-law: Viril Tans of Sussex, Wis.; a nephew; Randy Tans of Kenosha, Wis.; a niece: Bonnie Hilmer of Waukesha, Wis.; a cousin: Jack Luebke and his wife Audrey of Elk Horn, Wis.; two grandchildren: Amy and Timothy Dowdal of Bonita Springs, Fla.
Raymond Oliver Ely
Raymond Oliver Ely, son of the late Luther Ely and Marian (Wilkins) Ely, was born Nov. 26, 1928 in St. Johnsbury, Ver.
He attended schools in St. Johnsbury and Lyndon.
Ray was christened as an infant in the Lyndon Baptist Church in Vermont.
He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1999.
Ray entered the U.S. Army as a young man.
He served in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Germany and several other locations.
In honor of his faithful and dutiful service, Ray was awarded several medals, ribbons and other commendations.
He retired from the United States Army with an Honorable Discharge in 1968.
In 1959, Ray was united in marriage with Jean M. McLeod in Barre, Ver.
Ray and Jean shared four sons: Mark, Gary, Glenn, and John and one daughter, Dorinda who preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 1970.
He worked for Civil Service at Fort Leonard Wood.
Ray enjoyed playing golf and fishing.
He loved and valued being home and spending time with his family and friends.
Ray departed this life the afternoon of Dec. 6, 2003 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, at the age of 75.
Ray's wonderful sense of humor will be missed by his wife: Jean of the home; four sons: Mark Ely and his wife, Linda of Naperville, Ill., Gary Ely and his wife, Sandra of Platte City, Glenn Ely and his wife, Crystal of Owensville and John Ely and his wife, Christina of Rolla; three sisters: Elizabeth Ely Williams, Rosemary and Sharon Ely from out of state; ten brothers: Charlie, Gordon, Richard, Dan, Charles, Gary, James, David and Gaylon Ely, and Robert Ely all from out of state; 13 grandchildren: Tarese Nicole Ely, Paul MacLeod Ely, Nathan Scott Ely, Rachael Ely, Zachary Ely, Joshua Ely, Dorinda Ely, Brandon Scott Ely, Devon Raymond Ely, Lauren Elisabeth Ely, Ryan Scott Ely, Paige A. Ely and Dustin Lane, several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Dorinda and one sister: Muriel Hatch.
Funeral services were held 1p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Dr. Dennis Crowder and Rev. Wilbur Harbaugh officiating. Pianist Kitty Scott accompanied Doreen Horn as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross".
Soloist LeAnn Hackworth closed the service by singing "The Lord's Prayer".
Serving as escorts were John Abshier, Ron Cooley, Harry Horn, Brian Shelton and John Sutton.
Burial with military honors followed in the Main Post Cemetery at Ft. Leonard Wood.
Honors were provided by the United States Army.
Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Barbara Jean Basford
Barbara Jean Basford, 65 of St. Ann, died at 12:10 A.M. Sunday, February 24, 2002 at her daughter's home in Eureka.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 26th at the Calvary United Church of Christ in St. Louis.
Visitation began at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Services were under direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

A graveside service was held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 27th at Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery, Waynesville, under direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Basford is survived by her husband, Theodore of the home; two daughters, Teddie Ries and her husband, Michael of Eureka; and Tracie Dery and her husband, George of St. Charles; and two sons, Troy Basford of Eureka; and Trenton Basford and his wife, Peggy of Waynesville.
She also leaves one sister, Janice Garrison of St. Johns and one brother, James Mann of Overland; 14 grandchildren; one great grandson; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Cliffie Deberry Chalfant
Cliffie Deberry Chalfant, daughter of Francis and Beatrice Jones Deberry, was born April 3, 1919 in Camden County, and departed this life March 7, 2003 in Winchester, Kentucky at the age of 83 years.
Early in life Cliffie professed her faith in Christ and was a longtime member of Elm Grove Baptist Church where she served as pianist for many years.
She enjoyed living in the country and being able to watch wildlife around her home. In August of 1999 she moved to Winchester, Ky. to be near her sone and his family.
Cliffie is survived by one son, George Richard Chalfant and his wife Elizabeth of Winchester, Ky.; a grandson, Richard Michael Chalfant and wife Vonda of Lexington, Ky.; one granddaughter, Janna Lea Smith and husband Rex of Bardstown, Ky.; one great granddaughter, Hannah Lynn Chalfant of Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Eva Bellington of Odessa, Mo., and Chloe Crane of Junction City, Kansas; one brother, Tommy Quentin of Smithville, Mo.; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Edith Embry, and two brothers, Hadley and William Deberry.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Colonial Chapel, Richland, with Minister Bradley Jemes officiating. A poem was read by Richard Chalfant. Escorts were Jim Deberry, John Crane, Larry Bellington, Tom Deberry, Kenneth Deberry and Bruce Bellington. Honorary Escorts were Richard Chalfant and Rex Smith. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at Colonial Chapel, Richland.
Kathleen O'Brien
Kathleen O'Brien passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 25, 2003; beloved mother of Jeanne O'Brien and Matt (Jennifer) O'Brien; dear grandmother of Abby, Madeleine, Paige and Blake; dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
The O'Brien family received friends 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2003 at FOREVER Oak Hill Funeral Home at Pfitzinger, 366 S. Kirkwood Rd.
There will be a memorial service at the Elementary School on Thursday, Oct. 2, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Helen Thomas
Helen Thomas, 77, Springfield, went to be with the Lord and a host of family and friends on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003. Helen was born on May 15, 1926, in Poplar Bluff to John and Lula Crain.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Norman. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Rev. Damon Thomas; son Brad Thomas of Branson; a niece, Jeanne Watkins and family Johnny, Jason, Katy and Elizabeth of Waterloo, Ill.; along with many wonderful family members in Louisiana and Texas.
Helen spent many years as a church secretary for Southern Baptist secretary for Southern Baptist churches in Texas and California, followed by six years working for the Hawaii Baptist Church Convention in Honolulu.
She then served passionately beside her husband Damon as he pastored churches in Missouri, including 21 years at Immanuel Baptist Church in Springfield, and most recently at Homeland Baptist Church.
Visitation is 7 to 8 p.m. today at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Services will be conducted by Fred Lynn at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.
She'd want us to all fall more deeply in love with God, and to give each other continuous love and smiles.
Teddy Gene Waid
Teddy Gene Waid of Dixon was born on October 12, 1969 at Joplin, a son of Robert Waid and Lavon (Cook) Waid Reeves, and departed this life at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2003 in Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Teddy had attained the age of 33 years.
Teddy was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Waid, on May 10, 1980.
Teddy had been living in Houston, Mo., for the past couple of years and moved back to Dixon in April 2003.
Those left to mourn the passing of Teddy Gene Waid include: one son, Michael Werdehausen, Jefferson City; his mother, Lavon Waid Reeves, Dixon; three sisters, Tausha Waid Street, Vienna, April Waid Tatro, Crocker, and Kalee Reeves Beal, Dixon; nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Teddy will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were conducted for Teddy Gene Waid at 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2003 in the Long Funeral Home Chapel, Crocker.
Cremation followed the funeral service under the direction of the Long Funeral Home Chapel, Crocker. Honorary pallbearers for Teddy were Matthew Tatro, Kevin Kelley, Phillip Mooney, Jim Cook, and Jimmy Joe Cook.
