Nancy Campbell
Nancy Ann Campbell, 73, died Feb. 19, 2000 at Greenville Health Care.
She was born June 10, 1926 in Rector, Ark., daughter of the late John Albert and Lenora (Davidson) Carter.
She is survived by four daughters, Annie Walenda, Poplar Bluff, Ella Wells, Grand Blanc, Mich., Karen Wirtz and Georgia Daniels, both of St. Louis; one sister, Geri Liberatore, Fla.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were one son, Randy Ledbetter; one brother, Bert Carter; three sisters, Geneva Szabo, Lena Murphy and Linnie Harper.
The funeral was Feb. 22 at Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont with Pastor Steve Proctor officiating and music provided by Nancy Proctor.
Burial was at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector, Ark.
Clyde Guess
Clyde Guess, 79, died Feb. 19, 2000 at his home in Piedmont.
He was born July 30, 1920 in Greenville.
Aug. 2, 1941 he married Bernice Tierney and she survives. He worked as an equipment operator and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Marjorie Hite, Maryland Heights, Mo., Beverly Baudendistel and Sharon Thompson, both of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister, Alice Fray, Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Lisa Owen, Brian Hite, April and Michael Baudendistel, Connie Lyons and Christopher Thielmann; six great-grandchildren, Devin and Jessica Owen, Austin and Alexandrea Hite and Austin and Clayton Lyons.
The funeral was Feb. 21 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Rev. Henry Pasquet officiating. Music was provided by Glendell Twidwell, soloist, and Jeanette Turnbough, pianist.
Pallbearers were Ed Lunyou, Carl Lunyou, Ivan Hixson, Lindell Skaggs, Gordon Sanders, Kenny Morris and Enoch Thompson. Honorary pallbearer was Lovis Fears. Burial was at Masonic Cemetery in Piedmont.
Fredia L. Croney
Fredia L. Croney, 71, died Feb. 2, 2001 in Greenville, Mo.
She was born May 3, 1929 in Marquand, Mo., daughter of the late Daniel and Rosie Hale.
She married Elbert Croney and he preceded her in death. Fredia was a homemaker and had lived in Silva for many years.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Bill and Albert, three sisters, Sadie, Vida and Lillie and one great grandchild, Josh Beyers.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas Croney, Manitiwoc, Wisc., Willias Croney, St. Ann, Mo., Timothy Croney, St. Ann, Mo., three brothers, Truman Hale, Piedmont, Troy Hale, Silva and Eugene Hale, Greenville, two sisters, Tiney Jennerjohn, Piedmont, Virgie Holmes Weston, Greenville, fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and her dear frind Earl Weston.
The funeral was held Feb. 6 at the Morrison-Worley Chapel in Greenville with Rev. Daniel Hale officiating. Special music was provided by Bonnie Funston.
Pallbearers were Douglas Croney, William Croney, Timothy Croney, Bryan Croney, Daniel Croney and Ryan Croney.
Interment was in the Twidwell Cemetery in Clubb. Services were under the direction of Morrison-Worley Greenville Chapel.
Rubye P. Blackwell
Rubye P. Blackwell, 84, died Feb. 2, 2001 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
She was born Aug. 6, 1916 in Braggadocio, Mo., daughter of the late William Lewis Gallaher and Lillie Gertrude (Bray) Gallaher.
She was united in marriage to Carl Blackwell on Nov. 2, 1947 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1977. Also preceding her in death was one brother Milburn Gallaher.
Survivors include one son Carl Michael (Mike) Blackwell and wife Jackie, grandson Westley Pike Blackwell and wife, Jodie, great grandson Austin, all of Piedmont, one brother Buford Gallaher, Huntsville Al, two sisters Viola Dawson, Hayti, Mo., Louis Ottinger, Caruthersville, Mo.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont.
Funeral services were Feb. 4 at Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont with the Rev. James Stewart officiating. Music was provided by the First Baptist Church choir, pianist Linda Niswonger.
Serving as pallbearers were David Johnston, Frank McAllister, Mark Keister, Larry Crosley, Jerry Spinks, Dennis Johnson, honorary pallbearer Dusty Burton.
Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery in Piedmont, Mo. under the direction of Ruegg Funeral Homes of Piedmont.
Emil R. Carlson
Emil R. Carlson, 98, died Jan. 31, 2001 in Piedmont, Mo.
He was born March 16, 1902 in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Ivan and Nellie Carlson.
He married Mabel Roberts May 1, 1954 in Chicago and she survives. He worked as a cost accountant in Chicago before his retirement in 1971. He had lived at Missionary Acres in Clubb. He was the oldest living member of the local AARP Chapter and was a member of the Evangel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and his twin, Roy.
The funeral was held Feb. 3 at the Evangel Baptist Church in Clubb with Rev. Virgil Freyermuth officiating, assisted by Rev. Howard Street and music provided by Ken Moon and Marilee Ostrander.
Pallbearers were Ken Moon, Bill Hayes, Dr. Gene Burris, Chuck Nichols, Paul Gauwitz and Dave Kintner. Burial was in Greenville Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Greenville.
Alice B. Borders
Alice B. Borders, 78, died Jan. 28, 2001 at Three Rivers Healthcare South in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
She was born March 9, 1922 in Des Arc, daughter of the late Roy and Bertha (Wheatley) Bess.
She married Jasper Kelley and to this union three children were born, Kelly, Gertie and Butch. Mr. Kelly preceded her in death. She later married John Ellis Borders and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Patterson Baptist Church, baptized Dec. 12, 1993.
Those surviving are a daughter, Alice Bowman, Peveley; stepson, James Borders, Des Arc; stepdaughter, Ruby Borders, Piedmont; brother, Johnny Bess, Tunica, Miss.
The funeral was held Jan. 31 at Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont with Bro. Dewel Smith officiating.
Pallbearers were Roy Stout, Sr., Dwight DeBoard, Melvin Moore and Gary Gramlich. Burial was in Collins Cemetery, Annapolis.
Glenzil R. Nelson
Glenzil Ray Nelson, Dr., 57, died Feb. 1, 2001 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born June 29, 1943 in Torch, Mo., son of Iowa Nelson Pruyn of Farmington and the late Hiram Nelson.
He was united in marriage to Betty Pruyn March 7, 1963 in St. Louis and she survives, residing in Silva. Glenzil was a die caster for Bauman Engineering in Washington, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Glen (Sheila) Nelson, Jr., Silva, Kevin Nelson, Jackson, Minn.; three sisters, Melva Gazaway, Farmington, Bonnie Ladato, Ladue, Kathy Stewart, St. Louis; three grandchildren.
The funeral was held Feb. 4 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel in Greenville with Rev. Kenneth Moon officiating.
Pallbearers were Harry Prouty, Gene Pogue, Dan Pogue, Dave Gazaway, Mike Mobley and T. J. Montgomery. Flower bearers were Don Brinkley, Jr. and Michael Ruble. Burial was in Rowland-Woods Cemetery, Patterson.
Freida V. Miller
Freida Virginia Miller, 68, died Jan. 30, 2001 in Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
She was born Jan. 9, 1933 in Piedmont, daughter of the late Donald and Doreatha (Grigery) Dean.
She was united in marriage to James T. Miller Sept. 2, 1955 and he survives. Freida was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Des Arc, serving as financial secretary. She worked as a secretary for ASARCO in Glover for many years.
She is survived by two sisters, Lola Luten, Delores Wright; two brothers, Carl and Donald Dean, all of Des Arc.
The funeral was held Feb. 3 at Bryson Funeral Home, Pilot Knob, with Rev. Donald Dement officiating. Pallbearers were Don Wright, Doug Bond, Leonard Dean, Shane Tarkington, Gerald Miller and Mark Hester. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery, Des Arc.
