Floye Biddle
Floye Marguerite Biddle, 88, died Feb. 25, 2005, in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born Aug. 24, 1916, in Climax, Greenwood County, Kan., daughter of the late Dr. Herschel and Bertha (Tricker) Hendricks.
She was united in marriage to Walter Ingram Biddle Dec. 15, 1938, in Wadsworth, Kan., V.A. Chapel, and Judge Biddle preceded her in death in 1971.
Mrs. Biddle attended Allen County Community College in Iola, Kan., and graduated in 1937 from Research Hospital and Medical Center in Kansas City.
She was a registered nurse in Missouri and Kansas.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Fort Leavenworth Officers Club, Philomanthean Club, Byington Chapter #177 Order of the Eastern Star and served as secretary for the Leavenworth Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for several years.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda (George) Slavik, Plano, Texas; one son, Walter (Sue) Biddle, Piedmont; six grandchildren, Robert, Sherri, Becky, Jenny, Sarah and Jacob; seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in Iola, Kan., at a later date.
Samuel Dean
Samuel Allen Dean, 48, formerly of Des Arc, died Jan. 8, 2005, at his home in Piedmont, Mo.
He was born Sept. 9, 1956, in Des Arc, Mo., son of the late Harry and Ruth (Reed) Dean.
He was united in marriage to Darlene "Dee" Randol and she survives.
Mr. Dean was a security supervisor for Total Security Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Allen Dean, Ironton, Mike Dean, Mill Spring, Stanley Dean, Des Arc; two daughters, Dawn Dean, Warrenton, Dianna Dean, Des Arc; three brothers, Wayne Dean, Jessie Dean, both of Des Arc, Phillip Dean, Barnhart; one sister, Luetta Kasting, Bonne Terre; three grandchildren.
The memorial service was held Jan. 11 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Rev. William Nunn officiating.
Guy C. McMurry
Guy C. McMurry, 81, died Jan. 12, 2005, in Columbia, Mo.
He was born May 16, 1923, in Lesterville, Mo., son of the late Edward and Maime (Bonnie) McMurry.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Bearden, Piedmont, Judy Westmoreland, Mehlville; five sons, Bruce McMurry, Patterson, Roger McMurry, Salem, Steve McMurry, Cahokia, Ill., Kevin McMurry, Plattsburg, Shawn McMurry, Ellington; one sister, Irma Bonnie, Ironton; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Henry Cootes, and an infant daughter, Janet McMurry.
The memorial service was held Jan. 22 at Spencer Chapel, Salem, with Claude Bridges officiating.
Claus 'Kenny' Pauls
Claus K. "Kenny" Pauls, 71, died Jan. 18, 2005, at his home in Versailles, Mo.
He was born Nov. 14, 1933, in Gladbrook, Iowa, son of Rozella (Blandau) Pauls, who survives and resides in Piedmont and the late Claus Pauls.
He was united in marriage to Jane Heider Ratcliff May 12, 2001, and she survives.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Pauls, in 1987.
Mr. Pauls attended school in Piedmont.
He worked several years as a security guard for Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Versailles and Versailles Masonic Lodge #320 AF&AM.
He enjoyed bird watching, nature and woodworking.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Kenneth (Sharon) Pauls, Smithton; three brothers, Elvin and Marvin Pauls, both of Piedmont, Paul Pauls, St. Louis; one sister, Delores Moss, Piedmont; one stepson, Stephen Ratcliff, Versailles, two stepdaughters, Julie Koontz, Versailles, Cheryl Barker, Vinita, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Jan. 22 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Versailles, officiated by Rev. Bill Johnson and Chaplain Bart Lawson at Masonic services. Music was provided by Don and Ellen Gingerich.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia.
Arrangements were under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
Stephen D. Duncan
Stephen D. Duncan, 72, died Jan. 17, 2005, at his home near Clubb, Mo.
He was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Trotter, Mo., son of the late Dallas and Myrtle (Marshall) Duncan.
He was united in marriage to Delores "Dee" Stafford Oct. 18, 2002, in Farmington, and she survives, residing near Clubb.
Mr. Duncan served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He served from Oct. 30, 1951, until he retired as a master sergeant May 31, 1972.
He was a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church in Silva.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Stephanie-Duncan McCord, Jennifer Duncan-Anderson, both of Fountain, Colo.; one son, Michael Duncan, New Hope, Ga.; one brother, Wade Duncan, Fredericktown; five grandchildren, Sarah, Amanda, Katie, C.J. and Stevie; one great-grandchild, Zoey.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Jack, Benjamin and Andrew, and two sisters, Virginia and Delia.
The funeral was held Jan. 20 at New Hope General Baptist Church, Silva, with Pastor Dan Ross officiating and music by Rev. David Mills.
Pallbearers were Harry "Curly" Raglin, Bud Goodman, Hartland Alexander, Gene Vandergriff, LeRoy Bennett and Tim Duncan.
Honorary pallbearers were Dale Inman, Don Peck, Bud Slater, Greg and Todd Allen.
The Missouri Honor Guard provided full military honors at the church.
Cremation followed the funeral.
Arrangements were under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Greenville.
Emery Gibson
Emery Gibson, 78, died Nov. 28, 2004, at Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown, Mo.
He was born March 29, 1926, in Buckhorn, Mo., son of the late Jacob and Sarah (Stevens) Gibson.
He was united in marriage to Esther Stafford Aug. 3, 1946, in Coldwater and she preceded him in death March 4, 2000.
Mr. Gibson served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1944-46, where he earned the rank of corporal.
He was a self-employed logger.
Mr. Gibson enjoyed hunting, fishing and music and played lead guitar.
He was a member of the Oak Dale Baptist Church in Coldwater.
He is survived by two sons, Barry (Darlene) Gibson, Jerry (Shelia) Gibson, all of Coldwater; one daughter, Denise Gibson, Fredericktown; companion, Ruby Fitzgerald, Fredericktown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Gale, Terry and Gary Gibson, one great-grandson, Tommy Earl Shafer III.
The funeral was held Dec. 2 at Wilson Funeral Home, Fredericktown, with Bro. Willis Guess officiating.
Pallbearers were Danny Gibson Sr., Ron Gibson, Lonnie Berry, Kenneth Stevens, Jay Cook and Donald Stafford.
Burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Zion with full military honors by the Missouri National Guard.
Mary A. Wood
Mary E. Wood, 55, died Nov. 30, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born Jan. 11, 1949, in Doniphan, Mo., daughter of Maxine Jones, who survives and resides in Doniphan.
She was united in marriage to Ray C. Wood Sept. 21, 1996, and he survives, residing in Doniphan.
Mrs. Wood was an in-home health care worker for Current River Home Health Care.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two sons, Jim and Jeff Jones, both of Springfield; five sisters, Connie, Joyce and Carol, Glenda Long, Springfield, Joan Kusterman, Hemphill, Texas; two grandchildren, Katlyn Jones, Tyler Ray Jones; one stepson, Sherwin Wood, Park Hills; one stepdaughter, Linda Kindlesparger, Thompsonville, Ill.
The funeral was held Dec. 5 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Larry Sprous officiating.
Pallbearers were Alex Ruegg, Ronnie Street, Larry Plunkett Sr., Sherwin Wood, Raymond C. Wood and David Kindlesparger.
Burial was in Stevens Cemetery, Greenville.
George A. Sheets
George Alex Sheets, 63, died Dec. 5, 2004, in Imperial, Mo.
He was born Dec. 15, 1940, in Mill Spring, Mo., son of the late Harry and Bertha Sheets.
Mr. Sheets was a retired carpenter and operated Sheets Roofing and Siding Company for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Tim (Leigh) Sheets, Piedmont, Gary Sheets, St. Charles; two brothers, Paul (Anna) Sheets, Pocahontas, Ark., Ed (Sandy) Sheets, Florissant; four sisters, Dorothy Montgomery, Piedmont, Betty (Bob) Newland, Imperial, Pauline (Enoch) Thompson, Piedmont, Janet (Ray) Gregory, St. Louis; two grandsons, Hunter and Cole Sheets.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Glenda Garris.
The funeral was held Dec. 7 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont, with Rev. Jack Ruble officiating and music provided by Fran Cassidy, Paul, Doug, Kelly and Anna Sheets.
Pallbearers were Cole Sheets, Doug Sheets, David Brown, Steve Brown, Richard Montgomery and Rick Thompson.
Burial was in Mill Spring Cemetery.
