Clyde M. Reed
Clyde Malcom Reed, 80, died Jan. 22, 2003 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington, Mo.
He was born Aug. 29, 1922 in Vulcan, Mo., son of the late Charles and Martha (Hickman) Reed.
He was united in marriage to Eunice "June" Middleton Oct. 18, 1948 and she survives, residing in Vulcan.
Clyde was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army and was a retired foreman for Brown Shoe in Piedmont. He was a charter member of Vulcan Assembly of God Church beginning Dec. 22, 1950.
He is survived by three sons, Clyde Ray (Mary) Reed, Piedmont, Brent Wade (Rita) Reed, Elvin Trent (Patricia) Reed, all of Vulcan; two daughters, Janice Laraine (Gary) Schneider, St. Charles, Ill., Kerry Jalene (Paul) DeGregorio, St. Louis; one sister, Maple Jeans, St. Louis; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Claude, Bert, Chester, Cloyd Lester, Nay, Ray and Woodrow Reed and an infant; two sisters, Myrtle Ruble, Maudie Huff.
The funeral was held Jan. 25 at Vulcan Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jerry Cuneio officiating and music by Trent Reed, Bill Bennett, Guy Stevenson, Terry Dement, Susie Dement, Helen Jackson and the congregation.
Pallbearers were Brandon, Boyd, Trent, James and Clyde Matthew Reed and Neil Schneider. Honorary pallbearers were Sara Schneider, Katie, Ann, Debbie and Emily DeGregorio, Casey Kindt, Jennifer and Britney Reed. Burial was in John Ruble Cemetery, Vulcan.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont.

Hilda M. Swanson
Hilda Margaret Swanson, 89, died Jan. 24, 2003 at Reynolds County Memorial Hospital in Ellington, Mo.
She was born March 25, 1913 in Independence, Colo., daughter of the late Axel and Jennie (Johnson) Swanson.
Hilda was a missionary in Chile for 42 years. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Piedmont. She enjoyed her work and writing letters.
She is survived by one brother, George Swanson, Ellington; two sisters, Alice Carter, Piedmont, Florence Talk, Arlington, Texas.
The funeral was held Jan. 26 at McSpadden Funeral Home, Ellington, officiated by Rev. Charlie Gillenwater and Rev. Pat Fitzgerald.
Pallbearers were Fred Allen, Elvis Hall, Carl Meister, Carl Meister, Jim Lesh and Bill Carter.
Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of McSpadden Funeral Home, Ellington.

James E. Kyle
James E. Kyle, 66, died March 23, 2003 in Des Arc, Mo.
He was born June 27, 1936 in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Willard and Dollie (Eldridge) Kyle.
He was united in marriage to Alma Pauline Wolfe Jan. 15, 1958 and she preceded him in death March 7, 1997.
Mr. Kyle was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a mechanic and owner/operator of a service station. He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by three daughters, Melody Rogers, Adelanto, Calif., Theresa Young, Jonesboro, Ark., Judy Faulkner, Des Arc; four stepsons, David, Rudy, and Randy Dalton, all of Park Hills, Ricky Dalton, Kansas City, Kansas; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Kyle; one sister, Wilma Jean Kyle.
The funeral was held March 27 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Rev. Dewel Smith officiating.
Pallbearers were Troy Silvy, John Griffen, Ricky Hoskins, Paul Strebler, Jason Stout and Andy Houghton. Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery, Des Arc, with military honors provided by the Veteran Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff.

Eula M. James
Eula Marie James, 67, died March 27, 2003 at her home in McGee, Mo.
She was born Jan. 18, 1936 in McGee, daughter of Lillie (VanMatre) Wills of McGee and the late Clarence Wills.
She was united in marriage to Hubert James Jan. 24, 1953 in McGee and he preceded her in death April 8, 1999.
Mrs. James was a homemaker, a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Puxico and the Brush Creek Missionary Baptist Church of Zalma.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a special friend, James Laughlin of McGee, two brothers, Alfred Wills, Patterson, Bill Wills, McGee; five sisters, Mary Hill, Granite City, Louise Lafferty, Bloomfield, Lorene Williams, Wanda Rodgers, Norma VanMatre, all of Advance.
She was preceded in death by one son, David James.
The funeral was held March 29 at Morgan Funeral Chapel of Advance with Bro. Bill Sargent officiating and Bro. Lonnie Clubb assisting.
Burial was in Brush Creek Cemetery, Zalma.

Thomas A. Shepherd, Jr.
Thomas A. Shepherd, Jr., 55, died March 27, 2003 in Marionville, Mo.
He was born Nov. 6, 1947 in Annapolis, Mo., son of the late Thomas and Grace (Casteel) Shepherd.
He married Barbara Hobbs May 14, 1973 in Campbell and she survives, residing in Marionville.
Mr. Shepherd was a farmer. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Glynis Alvarez, Columbia, Ladonna Brown, Fairview; two sons, Jason Shepherd, Holland, Mich., Kevin Shepherd, Marionville; five brothers, Mike and Dathan Shepherd, both of Pullman, Mich., Tyrone Shepherd, South Haven, Mich., Jeff Shepherd, Des Arc, Terry Shepherd, Mineral Point; two sisters, Rita Webb, St. Louis, Pam Buckner, Mapleton, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Amanda and Brandy Hentschel, Nicole, Clarissa, Dakota and Thomas Shepherd and Tyler Brown.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Shepherd.
The funeral was held April 1 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont, with Rev. Clarence J. Casteel officiating. Music was provided by Rev. Casteel, Virginia Dinkins and Beth Francis.
Pallbearers were Jason, Kevin and Danny Shepherd, Jack Elliot, Eddie Champion and Allen Gracia. Burial was in Annapolis Cemetery.

Ollie A. McKnight Goad
Ollie Ann McKnight Goad, 89, died Sept. 18, 2003 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born Nov. 23, 1913 in Piedmont, Mo., daughter of the late Samuel and Alcie (Eaton) Kiser.
She married Charles R. McKnight Feb. 22, 1948 and he preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1974. She was united in marriage to Henry Goad Aug. 10, 1977 and he preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1993.
Ollie taught school for 40 years. She taught at Clearwater R-1, Dale, Big Lake, Shady Nook, Beulah and in Joplin.
She was a member of Missouri Alpha Psi Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, AARP and Lebanon Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for several years. She enjoyed crafting.
She is survived by one brother, Oscar Kiser, Piedmont; one sister, Oval Parker, Des Arc; 11 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Oliver Kiser and one sister, Ona Green, one niece and one nephew.
The funeral was held Sept. 21 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Bros. Tim Adams and Gerald Collier officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were her nephews, Edgar, Ernest and David Green, Dennis and Donald Parker, Orman and Bruce Kiser. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont.

Mabel Johnson
Mabel Johnson, 93, died Sept. 4, 2003 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
She was born March 19, 1910 in Mill Spring, Mo., daughter of the late Frank and Florence Chilton.
She was united in marriage to Kipp C. Johnson in May 1942 and he preceded her in death in November 1953.
Mabel was a retired teacher from the Poplar Bluff School system. She was a member of the First Christian Church and did volunteer work in the church library.
She is survived by her daughter, Loretta (Barney) Icenogle, Dubois, Ind.; three grandchildren, Mabel Friedman, Florence Davis and Hazel Grundin; one great-grandchild; two nephews, Frank and George Ward.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Ward, two stepsons, Kipp C. Johnson Jr. and Charles V. Johnson.
The funeral was held Sept. 8 at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff, with Rev. Todd Allen officiating. Burial was in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Herman E. Wilfong
Herman E. Wilfong, 83, died Nov. 13, 2003.
He was born July 16, 1920. He was united in marriage to Lois Rodgers Nov. 20, 1941, in Jackson and she survives, residing in Wappapello.
Mr. Wilfong entered the CCC camp when he was 17. During WWII, he worked in a gun factory in California. He was a school bus driver in Zalma and worked at the Mingo Wildlife Preserve. He was a member of the Missouri State Highway Commission and initiated the development of Highway Z. He retired from Mingo Job Corps in 1966. Mr. Wilfong served as Wayne County Eastern District commissioner for eight years.
He had been an active member of Bright Prospect Church. He enjoyed singing and hunting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Herman (Becky) Wilfong Jr., Randy (Karen) Wilfong, all of Wappapello; one daughter, Carolee Wilfong, McGee; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral was officiated by Rev. Ray Placher with music by Glendell Twidwell, Daphne Hershey and Jean Placher.
Graveside service was at Wilfong Cemetery with Alvie Richman singing.

Katherine Hamilton
Katherine Hamilton, 85, died Nov. 15, 2003, in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Piedmont, daughter of the late Albion and Velma (Hood) Daniel.
She was united in marriage to Coyle Hamilton May 23, 1937, in Corning, Ark. and he preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2002.
Mrs. Hamilton graduated from Piedmont High School and had attended every alumni banquet for the past 69 years. She was a bookkeeper for W.M. Luna Hardware store for 41 years.
She served as secretary for the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 347 and was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Piedmont.
She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Jack) Little, Wilmington, Del.; one sister, Sheila Lovelace, Piedmont; two grandsons, David (Sally) Little, Mark Little; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Cristiana Little; two nieces, Bonnie Suss and Marlene Cornwall; three nephews, Jim Sutton, Terry McCormick and Joe Wayne McCormick; numerous grandnieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was one brother, Osborne Daniel, and one nephew, Jack Jenkins.
The funeral was held Nov. 19 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont, with Rev. Jack Little officiating and music provided by Glendell Twidwell, Oresta Atnip and Jeanette Turnbough.
Pallbearers were Mark Little, David Little, John Sutton, Houston Sutton, T. J. Sutton and Gary Rose. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery.

Ruby Chilton
Ruby Chilton, 78, died Feb. 5, 2004, in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Deer River, Minn., daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte (Shilt) Burns.
She was united in marriage to Otis Chilton Dec. 11, 1940, and he preceded her in death Nov. 14, 1977.
Mrs. Chilton, along with her husband, owned and operated Chilton Grocery Store in Piedmont for many years. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her twin sister, Ruth Gray, Piedmont.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Harvey, Earl, Leonard and Fred Burns, three sisters, Ellen Barrett, Gertrudy Thompson and Veda Millison.
The funeral was held Feb. 8 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont, with Rev. Jason Abrams officiating.
Pallbearers were Bud Jon, Michael Jamie Pruitt, Jerry Swedeen, Matt Swedeen, Justin Yoakem and Joseph Yoakem. Honorary pallbearers were Kayla Gray, Trebor Gray and Travis Pruitt. Burial was in Gressham Cemetery, near Ellsinore.

Joel F. Livingston
Joel Franklin Livingston, 73, died Feb. 2, 2004, at St. Francois Manor in Farmington, Mo.
He was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Ruble, Mo., son of the late Lyman and Ida (Paul) Livingston.
He married Jane Ford and she preceded him in death.
He was united in marriage to Norwilda Siegler Aug. 17, 1966, and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Livingston worked for McCabe Power in St. Louis as an assembler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was of the Protestant faith
He is survived by one son, Joel Franklin Livingston, Jr., Coquille, Ore.; one daughter, Gaye Lynn Taylor, Ore.; three brothers, Grover Livingston, Emmetsburg, Iowa, Jim Livingston, Piedmont, Gerald Livingston, Arnold; five sisters, Imogene Lucas, Jane Swope, both of Fredericktown, Lorraine Moore, Connie Eudy, both of Farmington, Shirley Luther, St. Louis; one stepson, Larry Siegler; one stepdaughter, Jan Rothweiler, Piedmont; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Leroy Livingston, two sisters, Helen Goodson, Martha Beaty, two grandchildren, Kristina and Michael.
The funeral was held Feb. 9 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Rev. Chuck Lotz officiating and music provided by Glendell Twidwell and Rita Bridges.
Pallbearers were Reggie Montgomery, Steven Livingston, Gerald Livingston, Alan Siegler, John Millikan, Dale Swope and Ted Eudy. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
